Lesgupnigeria:
One important thing to know before starting is that knowledge is rated above finance in this business.

No knowledge of the business with billions of naira at hand will lead you to failing except you leverage on the expertise of knowledgeable people.

Rules for starting a profitable Plantain business

No 1: Get knowledgeable idea about the business

You should know what the business is all about;variety to cultivate, spacing, operational techniques etc before even thinking of starting.

No 2: know what will cost you to start the business.
Be sensitive to every small detail of the cost.
There is nothing that kills a farm business than having no cash to complete what you have started; once started a good cash flow is needed to complete it and inability to complete means all your effort and resources expended at the beginning is a waste.
Do proper cost-returns analysis

With the current high demand for plantain products, its production must move away from small backyard farms, expand to bigger areas, and be able to effectively reach markets and end users.

One good thing about plantain farming is that once you are able to get started, the farm can be sustained for over 2 decades without sourcing for new suckers. Plantain grows rapidly and they reproduce without stress once they are planted in a suitable land.
