Hello, Please I, and two of my colleagues are working towards further study in SA, we were told that we need to do one year honors program because our certificates were obtained after 4 years, that said, we are planning to apply for honors program now, so with this please I have a few questions.. How much does it cost to process SA visa from start to finish, also what are the necessary requirements though I have read the stuffs on their website, because an agency asked us to bring 400 thousand naira each which I think is outrageous, also an agency (sisa) claims that they can get admission within 48 hours without we doing saqa, is this a reasonable thing to do. I will really appreciate your response(s) because the content here have been really helpful, and eye opening most importantly, thanks
These dubious agents are out to exploit you and they might as well land u in a hot pot of soup cos many of them make use of false and doctored documents..there are many universities in SA where you can further your studies. Just visit their websites download their brochures and get first hand information..cheers.. besides most schools have closed applications for honors programme beginning in 2017..

My agent did that for me. I paid an agent 50k to arrange all documents. I only got my bank statement and reference letter from my bank also I did a yellow card with 1k at the Lagos airport I paid visa fee of #28,250. My bank statement of 6months add a closing balance of 2.2m and inflow of about 9m. And am a first time traveler.
i think you are right nduka, its like they know they want to give you already, so they just wait for when your date is close, my departure date is 28th though.

One of the requirements is to get a letter of recommendation from my employer. I for one would rather keep this personal till I secure my permit

So my question is , would it count against my application if I don't get a letter of introduction from my company?

Also my dad is supposed to be my sponsor but he doesn't have an international passport. Must I present that even when he has other identity documents.

Thanks to everyone contributing answers

U don't need any letter of introduction from any employer for study permit..all u need is your letter of admission, proof of accommodation, recent bank statement from ur Dad and a letter stating he is gonna b ur sponsor .he doesn't need to hav an international passport, any form of identification such as national id card is fine.

Why don't you contact the school's housing department? If you applied for accommodation as part of your application you should be able to get a letter from them stating your residence.

Good evening house.
I want to apply for a Ph.D in Capetown, Stellenbosch and Kwazulu Natal. Specifically, Stellenbosch catches my fancy but all I have read points to the fact that the school and the community is racist. This is making me have doubts about it.
Are these doubts unfounded? Do I really have nothing to fear?
I await your enlightening contributions. Thanks in anticipation.

Check for the hotel booking per day and multiple it by the number of days you're gonna spend multiply by btw 24-34(rand to naira conversion) depending your bank charges. , plus your visa application fee (28,800 I guess) plus your ticket amount to and fro, (200,000++) depending on your airline you're going by, plus your miscellaneous expenses...feeding and all sort of..., if you are a big time spender, increase your wallet. No amount is too much depending on your taste and your luxury lifestyle. But u can't spend less than 350-450k naira.
Just my little cent.

Yes Stellenbosch is racist, considering the fact that it was the intellectual bastion of Apartheid as a theory. However, racism here doesn't stop you from achieving excellence or getting what rightly accrues to you. Believe me, no one will victimise you - but if you are looking for a place where you want to be the darling of the whites, then choose another school. As a Nigerian in search of excellence, I presume, you should focus on what the intellectual environment offers - plus it is way safer than the Zulu enclaves grin

Cheers!

Contact the Nigerian Embassy at Pretoria. I am however not sure if they have resumed issuing passports as they stopped a few months back due to lack of materials. Do give it a try.

Please do not let that fear get to you. You will not have any problems as long as you do not involve yourself in unnecessary drama but rather focus on your study. In the case of Stellenbosch university, it has an active Nigerian community in addition to lecturers who are Nigerians living and working there. It is a good university.
