Dt was wt some pple said abt Hitler when he 1st rose 2 power. Personally I wld love 2 join d IDGAF crew bt dt wld b foolish with wt history has shown, wt happens in d US affects d whole world. D global financial crisis of 2008 in which over 8 trillion naira was lost in d NSE had d USA as ground 0. Do u know hw fragile d relative peace in d world presently is? A nut job lyk Trump can precipitate world war 3 or any oda world crisis wt his unguarded statements. Do u know d fraction of D world population dt died in d last world war? ⅓!!!. 1 in evry 3 persons in d world. Nw note dt d atomic bomb was only dropped twice & dt was long afta Germany had surrendered so majority of d casualties weren't 4rm nuclear warfare. Nw think of all d advances dt hv bn made on warfare technology since then. If world war 3 happens (heavens forbid), do u know hw many pple wld die, hw many coun3s wld bcom nuclear wastelands? Trump is inexperienced, egocentric, petty & has a false notion of hw d world works, which is terrible combo 4 d world @ large. He thinks he can outplay Vladimir putin in d game of wits by pandering 2 him 2 try & lure him 2 a sense of false security. He is wrong. Putin is ex-KGB so he's isn't a fool. It's funny how topics like this make the front page, but the news that has been everywhere for weeks, like how Putin had planned to blackmail Trump with videos of him sleeping with prostitutes and corporate bribery in order to influence his decisions don't. Things like Trump is the only US president to win an election but lose the popular vote so badly. Things like 73% of Americans actually think Trump will fail as a president. Things like Trump is trying to make Americans pay for his stupid wall.

Nigeria is the only country in the world with people who applaud Trump. The rest of the world is horrified and astonished by him. Mexico's president actually insulted him on twitter. China has been insulting him daily. The U.K. Ireland. Canada. EVERYWHERE. But you come to Nairaland and see idiots cheering. Why is Nigeria's own different? It's embarrassing.
because most nigerians hate anytn truthful or factual. Dey dnt lyk thinking deeply. Dey love divisions & attaching unsavory labels to pple who r nt lyk dem. because dey r gullible pple who hv bn & wld continue 2 b deceived by bad leaders nt only in their country bt in oda coun3s. There has never been evidence that Clinton or her campaign started the birther rumors,” said Ben Smith, editor in chief of BuzzFeed, who as a POLITICO reporter in 2011 linked the origin of the “birther” movement to a fringe politician in Illinois. Some hardcore Clinton backers circulated the rumors in 2008, but the campaign itself steered clear.

“As we reported, some of her supporters flirted with the idea in 2008 — but it has its origins in the fever swamps beginning in Illinois in 2004,” he said.

In fact, birtherism, as it’s been called, reportedly began with innuendo by serial Illinois political candidate Andy Martin, who painted Obama as a closet Muslim in 2004. That spiraled into a concerted effort by conspiracy theorists to raise doubts about Obama’s birthplace and religion — and essentially paint him as un-American.

Martin, who briefly launched a little-noticed presidential campaign last year, has disavowed the movement he’s often credited with starting, though he still foments similarly discredited doubts about Obama’s religion.

Clinton’s 2008 hands are recoiling at Trump’s revisionism about their role in propagating the lie about Obama’s citizenship. “The suggestion that the Hillary campaign was pushing birtherism in 2008 is bunk. It's fiction,” said Phil Singer, who was Clinton’s 2008 press secretary.

Much of the insinuation that Clinton had a hand in birtherism traces to the role of her then-senior strategist Mark Penn, who issued a memo in 2007 suggesting that Clinton emphasize Obama’s upbringing in Hawaii and Indonesia and paint him as fundamentally un-American. The memo never questioned Obama’s citizenship but did suggest highlighting his “lack of American roots.”

“[H]is roots to basic American values and culture are at best limited,” Penn wrote. “I cannot imagine electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values.”

The Clinton campaign never employed Penn’s strategy, and to this day it provokes sharply different perceptions among those who remember discussing it. Two sources with knowledge of the deliberations say Penn’s memo caused a “near-staff revolt” at the time it came up and contributed to factional infighting that would later hobble the campaign.
actually a little fact checking research has proved to you that the liberal lie you stated initially about Trump 'starting' it is actually a lie. but you are still reading from a liberal site who's trying desperately to shift the origin of that rumour away from Clinton. but whoever started it was definitely not Trump. if her campaign weren't promoting birtherism. why circulate Obama's pics in Muslim/Kenyan garb

Nope, the debate is that can a leader so fatally flawed as this one ever be great. Big difference. Not all flaws are equal and in leadership there is no flaw as bad as Trumps. The fact that some of you guys are not afraid that someone as thin skinned as this guy is the most powerful man in the world really makes me wonder how blind the people are.

First of all, in terms of national security you need a leader to be calm and restrained not a thin skinned loud mouth who is so easily provoked.

Secondly, you need a leader who is level headed and has a first rate temperament and who has the patience to work with his party and those on the other side of the aisle. Not someone who divides.

Finally, you should ask yourself why it is that someone with Trump's fatal character flaw has never been elected to the highest office in the land before? Do you think this man could ever be elected in 1932, 1980 and any other election in U.S history

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it, my opinion is that he is not the first flawed president and he won't be the last! He is the president and there's nothing you can do about it, so you can continue with your message of doom or give the man a chance to govern. With all his fatal flaws he defeated seasoned political opponents, with all his fatal flaws he picked those with tremendous experience to make up his cabinet and finally with all his fatal flaws he is putting America first once again, like I said greatness does not mean perfection as even flawed presidents have done some of the greatest things in U.S history!

It was Ghaddafi that plunged his country in chaos by staying in power for too long and refusing to stand down when his people started protesting for freedom and liberty. This is a man who decided to unleash the armed forces of his country on his own people. So it would have been unconscionable for the world to standby and let the massacre happen. The united states and other world powers decided to set up a no fly zone prohibiting the Ghaddafi regime from bombing his people.
Secondly, Hillary Clinton did not create ISIS in by moving the US out of Iraq. It was President Bush that invaded in the first place and signed the troop withdrawal before he left office in 2009.
Lastly, stop following Donald Trump on twitter, the man has been proven to tweet so many lies. The man is hardly credible so if you like keep listening to him.

Hahahaha, chei! You call Scott Pruitt (E.P.A), Rick Perry (Energy), Betsy Davos (Education) people of "tremendous experience"?!?! Hajahaha chai! Wetin person no go read for nairaland. Scott Pruitt has been a notable enemy of the EPA for years. The man even filed 14 lawsuits against the EPA during his term as the attorney general of the state of oklahoma. Rick Perry has also been an enemy of the dept of energy for years also. The man is even on record saying that the dept of energy to be done away with. And don't even get me started on Betsy Davos and Jay Clayton (SEC). Talk about putting the wolf in charge of the hen house.

He might not be the first flawed candidate but hopefully he is going to be the last ill tempered populist demagogue to ever run for office. Talk about someone not meeting the minimum threshold of temperament to even be qualified as the most powrful man in the world. But hey, he got elected. Just dont forget that the Nazi party too were voted into power and were embraced by the populace.

Such poor education! You might want to pick up Trump's book on the art of negotiation and realize why these picks are meant to champion deregulation, a concept many Americans especially business people like myself are so much in love with. Enough of that, now back to Trump. Where were you when Arnold became Governor or let's go backin history, have you ever heard of Nixon, Buchanan or Jackson? You've called him every name in the book and now he's Hitler, seems the liberal media are really good at educating you. Get that idea out of your head that America will never elect someone like Trump again, Americans are themost unpredictable set of people on the planet. Anyways, Trump is the president, he's going to be the president for the next 4years minimum so chill back and enjoy the ride grin grin grin

Ha! Everybody is always quick to hark freedom of speech, but forgetting about freedom of the press. Trump demonised himself by saying, doing or in some cases blatantly avoiding in places where it could eventually be revealed. He appears to not understand that he is going to be POTUS and all the things it entails. One of the questions he was trying to avoid during that disaster of a press conference was his inability to show his tax returns (still... dey go fear this man). It also appears the man still wants to profit from his businesses during his tenure as the POTUS. Claiming that his businesses will be run in a blind trust by his sons. grin grin Or were you one of those gullible folks fooled by his stack of folders? Look, when the US Ethics committee is publicly complaining about the blurred lines of this arrangement, one has to take note.

At the end of the day, we shall see, when some misled folks will finally realise that Trump has literally been dodging and blowing smoke up their arses. The man is a skilled knave at misdirection & lying. I applaud him for playing to his strengths. He should spend less time on his Twitter account and start carry himself like an actual President and not a petulant child. 70 is not the new 12. This is the same man that during his campaign, helped the weird rumour spread - Ted Cruz's father being JFK's assassin. Plus, he was one of those who kept going on about Obama's birth certificate. Amazing, how he can't show his own tax returns. He wants people to be held accountable, as long as it's not him. Let's hope he surprises us all by being competent. These are interesting times.

It appears you messed up the quote system. You say one man, one vote. While, by that logic, Trump should not be president, since he didn't win the popular vote, but that's the way it is. Draining the swamp, that's proven to be ironic, since he appears to still be using its residents. And I loved the fact that he basically opened his own yash about it during his victory tour. Saying how he thought the phrase was hookey (sp?) and cheesy, but kept using it when he noticed the audience liked it. His audience kept smiling and clapping, while I kept laughing. The guy will lie and then tell you he lied. Kudos to him.

So you think US isn't corrupt, my guy every country has its corruption, some even covered by loopholes in the law. The same country that ran an illegal war, remember? Everyone is always quick to call Clinton, the mother of ISIS. Err...riddle me this, who was in charge of the US during said illegal war? Bush. The same war that helped cultivate these terror groups. Let's not even start talking about how the US has messed up some countries for their own interest. The continent of South America can attest to some weird ish from the US over the years - seriously, they overthrew Guatemalan government in the name fruit (either bananas or oranges. Oh and apparently communism. You can read up on United Fruit Company). The whole tax returns thing is simply to show himself accountable to the people. It's one of the main things every western politician does.

Did you just say show me the book on presidential carriage?! Now I know, you ain't serious.
my guy every country has its corruption, some even covered by loopholes in the law.

It appears you messed up the quote system.
Quote system?
You say one man, one vote. While, by that logic, Trump should not be president, since he didn't win the popular vote, but that's the way it is.
You know what I mean
1 electoral college 1 vote etc
Their rules
He didn't make them
Draining the swamp, that's proven to be ironic, since he appears to still be using its residents.
That's what I'm sayin
He said what ''majority'' wanted to hear
Clinton didn't

says who
You hire and you fire.
Not rocket science

Lolol.... its more to it than just "you hire and you fire"... this isn't the apprentice (which the "boss" who we think "hires and fires" will quickly learn soon enough)... far different from a boss or board of directors at some firm single-handedly making decisions... just because he's president doesn't mean he is above what we call checks and balances... its funny because this very statement depicts I believe the very mentality Trump walks around with... "oh how hard could this be I just wave my big stick, point and boss folks around, and tell them what to do as I did at Trump Towers"... those "checks and balances" are what we call the job of the House and the Senates.. the gov't sector it is VERY different, my friend... I could be here all day explaining why there are vast differences but theres no need to I just know because I live and breathe it daily... don't take my word for it... however each and everyone is entitled to be as aware or as unaware as their heart desires wink

my madam at the top. It is just as easy as hiring and firing. It's just I hate writing so I may not be able to convince you. Checks and balances only comes with writing bills and spending money. This is where the art of the deal comes in. Believe me Trump towers took lots of deal making (give and take) to go up. Forget what left wing media wants you to believe he didn't become a billionaire by being incompetent
Are you a politician or political aide

And the right is ALL over it abi? LOL...

Im not concerned with how he got there and the team he put around him to have gotten there... that time has passed, no sense in crying over spilled milk but im concerned about his and his team's level of awareness and competency as to what it requires to be in such a role...

Additionally, checks and balance applies not only to law making but also applies to the fact that for example he can't make an executive decisions/order to go an blow somewhere up unless placed in front of Congress all because someone looks at him wrong OR has an opinion or point of view different than his OR do and undo because he feels like it... there is a process... this is far different than Trump towers...

We can agree to disagree... hey its what makes the world go round, abi? im neither left or right or even independent for that matter but AWARE! The beauty of an opinion/pov is that there is no convincing needed, its yours.. chile, I wish my salary denoted OGA at the top, LOL... Cute title I'll hang on to that... again just aware... We should all be! Just sharing my pov just as I believe you are doing so as well! wink

First of all, I think you mean The Art of the Deal not the "art of negotiation".

Secondly, if you think putting someone who is an enemy of public education in charge of education good policy then good for you.

Thirdly, if you hate deregulation so much why don't we get rid of the FDA, FDIC, SEC and the EPA. Let's go back to the 20's where the wealthy and the powerful can get away with alnost everything. Let's get rid of the clean air act after all breathable air and clean water is bad for business. Let's remove the checks and balances that were put in place in the 30's to prevent the excesses that wrecked the economy. I guess that will please you people.

They say those who refuse to learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them. Trump would be wise to learn from that but hey the man hardly reads books.

So says the person who believes in pizzagate (a pathetic conspiracy theory that has been debunked).

How old are you again? I need to know the kind of person who believes in conspiracy theories from fringe websites cos its hard to take people like you seriously when you seem to be one of the people that believe things are true as long as they are on the internet or as long as Donald Trump, a long time purveyor of fake news tweets it.

Another fallacy! Deregulation doesn't mean getting rid of them, it means reducing their power so that businesses can run as free enterprises. Go back and read about Jimmy Carter and his policies and why he is considered one of the worst presidents in U.S history in terms of economic policies. I'm done with you!

I am sure you think that NASA faked the moon landing and that the govt knows the whereabouts of those who killed Tupac and Biggie right? I dont think i had ever encountered anyone quite like you on nairaland before I tried to give you a chance but when you mentioned Alex Jones I simply just gave up. Have a nice life.
