I perceived the familiar cologne and i turned instantly. Even before i turned, i knew it was her. No one else - Kainene.

I wasnt sure she had seen me as she was busy picking her favourite cereal. She had grown robust, more rounded and wider hips than i knew her to be. Evidence of good living, i thought.

She still looked beautiful as usual, dressed in a casual pencilled, body-hugging, shape revealing sky blue jean with a black short front, back long chiffon blouse. I wondered why she really loved chiffon. A simple yet elegant gold coloured sandals graced her beautiful feet coupled with her nails which was polished red. Her weave was long and free, though i wasnt really seeing her face, i knew her make-up was light and simple, she looked exotic. Behind.

Just when i noticed she was about turning towards my direction, i returned my gaze to the perfumes i was purchasing.

'sorry excuse me there' i heard her voice, i knew she wasnt talking to me, an attendant nearby i guessed 'sorry, i cant seem to find Lucky Charms, i've picked my Cornflakes, but the Lucky Charms, it seems you guys ran out of it, yeah?'

'so sorry ma'am, i'll just check the warehouse' and he was gone.

I stood where i was wondering if i should just talk to her. My mother's words kept ringing in my head "love isnt perfect, you learn to make it perfect".

I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. I turned and just then, we bumped into each other.

'hello' the guy came forward and stretched his hand 'i'm guessing you must be Nathan? The guy who broke her heart and abandoned her when she needed him the most, right?'

I looked at his outstrectched hand and i scoffed 'nice meeting you too. I never knew you were the childhood friend she told me about who seduced Kamsi few weeks to her wedding thereby successfully ruining her wedding. I'd always wanted meeting you wondering what you had that made Kaka go gaga'

The dude actually smiled 'i'm a pretty cool guy'

'its okay now both of you' Kainene said coming between us 'Moses, i actually dont like the way you addressed my...Nathan. Its uncalled for. That was rude'

'well, i just wanted to be honest' With both hands in his pocket, he shrugged nonchalantly.

'and i appreciate honesty really' i said with a smile, then i held Nene's hand 'can we talk?'

She was about opening her mouth when MozB beat her to it 'Nene? Do you have time for that? Remember we need to stop over at the interior decorator's for your new apartment? Its almost 2 O'clock, there's no time for chitchats'

'you're moving?' i asked.

'uhm...i'm...actually i sold the house. I'm about relocating to one of the houses in my mother's estate'

'why?' i frowned.

'asks a runaway boyfriend' MozB said and i warned him with my eyes. He didnt get it but Kainene did and she in turn warned him with her own eyes.

I reached for her hands and i made her drop the basket containing stuffs she was holding 'sorry, but we've got a lot to talk about' She looked at MozB, then back to me, then we both left the supermarket.

I got into my car and she climbed over the passenger's seat.

I looked at her 'what happened? Why are you moving?'

She looked down 'i cant live alone in such a big house. It would have been better if i had to live with someone else'

'what about Kaka? Why dont you get her to live with you?'

'she's not in town presently'

'what about when she comes back?'

She shook her head 'i already sold the house'

'where's your new address?'

Then she looked at me and this time, i saw something different in her eyes. Something close to defiance 'why do you care?' she threw at me.

I was suddenly suprised.

'Nathan, you made it clear to me that you werent interested in me right? Why then are you suddenly asking me questions about myself?' she scoffed 'do you know why i was actually playing along? Because i wanted to know where this your so-called attention and niceness is going to lead us to. You made it clear that you didnt want to have anything to do with me? Then fine! Stay away from me!'

JOLADE.
Getting married to Kelvin was the happiest moment of my life. It was a small wedding, something my mother wasnt happy about. Infact, throughout the small get-together wedding ceremony, she wasnt cheerful at all and i knew it was the presence of Bidemi that made her come.

All along, i never knew what love entailed.

I finally knew what it felt like to love and recieve love in return. I finally understood that love doesnt judge you by your past. That love stands by you no matter the circumstances.

The past few months had been interesting for me. I was due soon. Yes, maybe Kelvin and i rushed things but we had to. The first reason being our love and the second being the fact that the baby was soon to arrive.

Mum wasnt happy. And i knew she wouldnt have agreed had it not been for Bidemi who was close to her heart. Bidemi had shown up few weeks ago. And though she hadnt stated her reason for suddenly coming back, Folake and i knew she was running away from her husband. She came with her kids also.

Folake gave up a furnished apartment for us to reside in while Bidemi bought us a car. Folake used her connections as a senator's ex-wife to get Kelvin a job in a reputable company since he was a graduate.

Qasa relocated to the states and i never saw her again. Even though i told Kelvin about the relationship between the both of us, i was glad she left my life for good.

It was a month now since we got married. And even though i still thought of Nathan once in a while, i knew that whatever i felt towards him had long died. Kelvin was my everything now, my hero, my champion, my all.
The man who stood by me throughout the most trying times of my life.

'honey?' his voice jerked me back to consciousness.

I looked up as his hands circled my face from back. I smiled 'you're back? Welcome'

'what were you thinking about? I just stood here watching you for a while but you made no movement. I was scared you died while sitting' he joked.

I smacked his hands playfully 'you're not serious. You know if i die, you'll suffer as well. And i will die with your child' i placed my hands on my stomach.

'please oo. Even if you must die, make sure you drop my child first' he came over to my front and squatted just before my bulging abdomen, then he kissed it 'how's my baby doing over there?'

'your baby is doing awesome' i replied. Then i suddenly felt like asking, the thought just came to me 'Kels, i just felt i should ask. If..thats when i finally give birth to this child. And...after him, i give birth to yours, i..will he be your first child or your biological one...'

'what are you saying now Jolade?' he cut in immediately 'do you think that when my own child comes, i'm going to bypass our first child for the second? Is that what you're saying?'

'Kels, its not...'

'Lade, please dont ever mention that again. I love you and i love our child as well. I could never, i repeat, i could never bypass the first for the second. I will love them both equally for they are both my children, Lade please dont mention that again'

I just smiled. I thought i saw something in his eyes. Something i couldnt place, but i waved it off 'your food is in the kitchen, should i serve it?'

He nodded and i stood up. I turned to leave when he grabbed my waist and pulled me to himself, he kissed me on my lips 'i love you Jolly. Never you doubt that, no matter what'

I nodded and wrapped my hands around his neck 'i love you my darling' Our lips locked in another kiss.

sometimes, the way people talk gets me wondering if God actually gave everybody he created common sense.
U see those times when i actually say i wont update till it gets to so and so page, i'm just using that as an excuse becos i know i wont be available at that particular time. So i'll use that to keep you guys busy till i'm less busy. That doesnt mean that when i'm less busy i wont type even if it hasnt gotten to that particular page.
