Lol!!! I knew you would post this.

We all know about this is a man made pond or well that was dug long ago and we all know the source.

The term OLOKUN is not Yoruba but Benin. Olokun Shrine is located at Urhonigbe, take a picture and it will come out blurred.

The Shrine of Olokun in Benin located at Urhonigbe and d source is the now River Ethiope which was once refered to as river Olokun and till date the name of the river in our dialect is Ezeh Olokun meaning Olokun River but the colonial masters decided to name it River Ethiope and the source of River Ethiope is Atlantic Ocean.

Now be sincere cos I know you are a reasonable guy unlike that imp Oluu whatever. Which of the two story sounds more credible? A River which its main source is Atlantic Ocean or a Pond with no source?

Before I proceed with any back and forth with you.

First of all tell me/us how 'Olokun' an ellison of Oni Okun is a Bini word or has its etymology in Bini.

- If you can do this, I willgo further to debate this Olokun matter with you.

- If you can not, then Olokun has its source in Ife QED.

Man made well seeping water with sea qualities?

Man made well that researchers from Europe have tried to study and accede to it having a sea source from underneath wherever?

Okuk is not river, you cannot worship a river and call it Okun.

Okun in Yoruba is sea.

You see how Benin takes Yoruba stuff and misinterpretes it then lay frivolous claims over it?

First it was Oba which is a term for Chief here but became the title of leader over there.
cheesy
Then Oduduwa with a clear meaning of a vessel bringing existence to Izoduduwa.

Then Oranmiyan with clear meanings similar to that of Orangun his older brother to Omanonyan.

Now Olokun is a river? cheesy grin

Lol, just state you want a photo-tour of Ife.

I hope you show us whatever is the source or is attached to Olokun in Bini.

Google Olokun festival & have fun.

Oh, see the center of the fenced pool? That is the source of the sea water that has refused to dry up for many eons, way before Ogiso, Igodomigodo, Bini or Eweka. cool

There are a lot of things such as this in Ife but mostly protected/kept from public.

You do have a point sir but as long as they are clowning they will keep distorting Yoruba history. A number of Yoruba are stupid and of course they are thinking in line with Benin revisionism instead of researchinf their own History.

1. All the words in the emboldened are Yoruba words borrowed by Benin. We do not speak the same language, similar words in the same language having the same meanings are either that both groups were one and the same but separated at a point in history or One group borrowed words from the other.

- If we go by the first theory then this means the Idanre history of Bini migrating with them out of Ife is correct.

or

- Bini borrowed words from Ife/Yoruba.

It is like saying Alubosa, Gafara etc which are Arabic words found in Yoruba langauge were developed in Yoruba land independently when we know it developed in Arab world first.

2. The part about Obaluaye being imported is a fabrication or the author's imagination. Obaluaye was Ogun's brother in Ife and he is known universally amongst the Yoruba to be the patron of those with charms in ado (a very small vessel like material). This is strike one.

3. The excerpt below is not history but a mythical account of God, ekhalederhen & Olokun. Leo Fobrenius in is 1910 work detailed discoveries made at Igbo Olokun (which is still in existence) and the materials excavated from Igbo Olokun date way back before the time of Oduduwa. You can find Leo Fobrenius (1913) The Voice of Africa Volume 1 London: Hutchinson & Co.

Let us keep this debate within the scope of:

i. The etymology of the term Olokun. What is thr phrase for ownership in Bini and what is Sea in Bini language.

ii. The physical history of Olokun as a person who existed and links to artefacts related to her/him in Bini.

I am glad you're now citing written works and not memes, this is a step towards proper discussion.

Unfortunately, this is all myth and does not point us to physical materials attributed to Olokun and studied by independent researchers who gave concluding opinion.

If we have to go by myth then there are hundreds of Ifa verses I can find referencing Olokun (note: Ifa is not even completely mythical).

For a good read on Olokun, the mythical side, read: http://www.anthroserbia.org/Content/PDF/Articles/3975a152135844548a6bed249719f6f6.pdf

If Olokun originated from Benin then it would have a Benin name.

As far as this goes, there's no debate to be had.

You can not start a trend in your family and then the trend gets its name and its mechanisms from another family.

Two Origin of Olokun Worship by Bini people.
Benin is widely accepted as the home or origin of Olokun worsip. While most Olokun initiates in Africa are female , the legends that mark the beginning of Olokun worship feature stories of men being their initial worshipers .

The Hunter
There was a hunter that resided in Urhonigbe
( near Benin City ) in Edo /Bini Kingdom . One day he ventured off into the woods on a hunting expedition , while chasing a bush pig he was attracted to the river Ethiope where he was taken to the bottom of the river. It was here that he was introduced to the deity Olokun . He stayed in this underwater abode for three years and , in the course of that three years he was encouraged to participate in spiritual rituals that went on all the time . Equally , during this three year period he learned the spiritual sciences and worship practices associated with Olokun.
Back in his home town , his family and neighbors assumed he was dead after being gone so long. They were surprised to say the least when he returned mute and dumbfounded ( without the ability of speech or general sensibilities ) carrying a water pot on his head. His only response was to dance to the shock of townsfolk. Eventually the crowd that had gathered began to mock his dance and it started what was to become a 14 - day tribute of ritual dancing to Olokun. At the end of this period the hunter began to talk again and chose to share some of his experiences. All skepticism about his story were eased as his began to do spiritual work that created positive results for those around him . He was named chief priest of Olokun at this point. Even until today, hunters re-enact this famous prodigal son ’ s life with the annual festival and Ekaba dance . Urhoniigbe ’ s Olokun temple sits on the spot where he rested his Olokun pot /shrine on the 14 th day .

In Evboesi , there was a boy named Omobe ( rascal , troublesome child ) that had great physical ability and was trained to be a wrestler. As he grew older his wrestling abilities grew stronger and before long he was considered the greatest wrestler in the world . At his birth the local priest /diviner warned his parents to not allow Omobe to climb palm trees. But one day while his parents were away he decided to climb a palm tree any way . From high up he could peer into the spirit world and he noticed that several divinities had gathered for a fantastic wrestling match ! He immediately climbed down and made his way to the spirit world to test his own luck amongst a variety of spirits . He beat every opponent . Ancestors, Gods and all others lost at his hands , even Ogun. Finally he prepared to wrestle Olokun. While he summoned all of his physical strength , Olokun drew on His spiritual powers

During the match Omobe attempted to throw Olokun to the ground , but instead Olokun ended up firmly attached to his head. All attempts at removing Olokun from his head failed and Olokun declared it His permanent abode as a sign of Omobe ’ s arrogance and disrespect towards the other spirits . When Omobe returned home the local priest /diviner advised him to appease Olokun or die . So for seven days Omobe made sacrifice . On the last day Omobe was initiated as the first Olokun priest. After this Olokun loosened his grip on Omobe ’ s life .

It is said that Omobe ’ s lack of respect for his parent’ s , and spiritual elders and the divinities had landed his in such dire straits .

Other Version:

How did the matter of Olokun come about, if not from what is described in Edo mystery of rulership known as God 's intervention for the affairs of people of the world , that they may have God' s representative

It was said that God decided to help the people of the world by sending his first son Olokun, to come and rule the people on earth. From across the sky and heavenly oceans God sent Olokun as King to cross the the oceans together with his beloved queen and six other co -wives to sail down to earth. They filled a boat with all needed earthly . treasures and comfort and got a paddler ( Ozigue ) to transport them to the earth. But God told Olokun that until Olokun arrived on earth, He should not enjoy any of his wives carnally . Owing to the fact that King Olokun and his first wife the Queen , were so deeply in love, they could not hold themselves from having sexual intercourse , while the other co-wives tried to cover around them and fanned them singing beautiful songs , that may cover up every nuptial sound .
As we know , God could not be deceived . God halted King Olokun 's journey to the earth right in the middle of the ocean, and made Olokun as the king of the oceans . God then promised to send his second son ( omo ) to cross the sky and directly come on earth to rule. God advised the new king from the sky that he must not forget to pay tribute to his senior brother Olokun in the ocean and seas . Moreover God advised the new sky -king on earth to plead with Olokun to be giving him fortunes and material things , because God had earlier given the power of treasure to King Olokun when it was first intended for him to be King of the earth. The Sky -King ( Pharaoh, Ogiso ) and all descending Obas used to go to the Olokun Priest at Ughoton near the sea , giving tokens of love as small leather boxes ( Ekpokin ) ( as treasure representative ) , cowries ( money representative ) , fruits ( food representative ) etc and ask the priest to plead on their behalf to King of the sea Olokun , to sympathetically release treasure to them. This is said to be the beginning of pleading to Olokun and the religion around it in West Africa !

THESE WERE THE TWO OUT MANY VERSIONS YOUR SENIORS CREATED FOR OLOKUN AND YOUR OWN VERSION MADE IT THIRD. HOWEVER, THERE ARE OTHER VERSION TOO CREATED BY YOUR LYING BROTHERS.

EDO PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS OOOH.
EDO AND LIES ARE FISH AND WATER....

Lol, some of my people in SW are very pained that despite all dubious academic attempt to rewrite history that Yoruba were always this big homogeneous group that was all powerful and dominating others fails every time they try to disparage Benin. They also forget that in appreciating others, you make yourself a bigger man.

They forget truth will always catch up with lies. Every time no matter the craftiness of the liar and the delay.

I am very patient because I suppose that nobody is incapable of overcoming their ignorance if only they want.

He claims to be a historian but I have to wonder the history he's talking about.

Some of these people come here with the condescending attitude of "we are the more educated and large in number, who are these inconsequential minorities to tell us anything about history?". But when we get into the nitty-gritty, they quickly fall off their horse, throw caution to the winds and begin cursing & swearing in frustration like agbero. The mask of dubious education & scholarship falls off easily. And then they disappear. grin cheesy grin
I have seen many come & go over the years.

This attitude is predicated on the tribal tripod system of Nigeria. Where SW like to see themselves as deal breaker & maker. But sadly such deals have always led to their brightest and best being hounded, emasculated & frustrated by the North that they think they can slyly hoodwink. Awolowo & Abiola come to mind. Tinubu probably heading same way.

That is where their attitude comes from and has been for a while now.

On January 7, 1952 at the opening of the Western House of Assembly the Alake of Abeokuta said this:

On my right sits the Oni of Ife;
On my left, the Leader of our Government,
Obafemi Awolowo.
The Voice of the West is complete.

This careless utterance & neglect of Benin & Delta province by the Alake highlighted their tribalistic disposition. Oba Akenzua II and other Benin & Delta province members of the house walked out. And momentum to create MIDWEST region gathered from there. Midwest was the only democratically created region in Nigeria through a popular referendum vote.

Another Alake went ahead just over a year ago to claim Benin was part of Yorubaland and tried ranking Oba of Benin among their Obas. Even having the audacity to put himself just under/lower than Oba of Benin and above Awujale of Ijebu. cheesy grin grin

He was roundly lambasted and put in his place.

We are very used to dealing with their attitude squarely.

That list made by the Alake was supported by evidence. it was a legit ranking in the Colonial era

Africans are just too bigoted to grow a healthy society, smh

Wrong.

Check your facts.

Ooni of Ife was ranked very low under British Colonial rule. Way under Oba of Benin. Alaafin was ranked first.

So why do many Yoruba people like to rank Ooni higher than Alaafin & Oba of Benin (even though Benin is not politically in SW since 1963) today?

Mind you that in the North in colonial times, after Sultan of Sokoto, Shehu of Borno was ranked second, even ahead of Emir of Kano & Emir of Zazzau (Zaria).

So Alake's utterance was far from legit historically, not even colonially. Though I couldn't give a rat's bum about colonial ranking.

Go & read it. It's fairly recent history, under 100 years old.

Who told you olokun is a yoruba word? Hahahaha

Yorubaland a landlocked land with no access to sea!

God forbid that Bini would use ifa....what useless stupid dirty ifa..
I spit on it.... Wat trash...

Keep peddling lies pray u dont drown on it

Hahahahaha grin grin TRASH!!

Olu- Lord or Owner
Okun- Ocean or Sea
Hence Olokun means Owner/Lord of the Sea

In regards to your claim of Yorubaland being landlocked, go take this interesting theory to the Ilaje, Ijebu, Awori, Anago or Ohori people.
Lagos State was not a desolate, uninhabitable place before the Benin rulers came. Just because the Benin Empire ruled Lagos does not mean that the people's identity changed. Similarly, just because the British ruled Nigeria, does not make Nigerians British. The Awori, Egba, Ijebu, and the distinct Egun/Ogu were the original inhabitants. The Egba in Otta, Awori in the center, Ijebu in the East, and Ogu/Egun in Badagry. Edo and Yoruba people have a historical relationship, so there is no need for divisive tribalism.

I do not give a rat's bum about Britain's ranking because an Imperialist country that came all the way to attack Benin Kingdom, Jaja of Opobo and others who defied them while rewarding those who meekly obeyed them cannot be trusted to rank anybody objectively. You even using their ranking (even wrongly as you did) is even more ludicrous.

I will tell you another funny thing in British ranking. Money awarded as stipend did not necessarily correlate with the order of ranking. Where they could not smuggle a stooge higher up in the ranking, they rewarded him in monetary terms. grin cheesy

Opal, I just decide to be looking at these people sometimes.

They claim that virtually everything Benin comes from Yoruba land.

These words are very archaic Benin words, many even taken away by migrants from Benin area like Isoko/Urhobo people around 500 to 800 years ago.

What is happening is that SW people are using early educational advantage & numerical size to try to claim everything Benin has ever achieved.

Olu317:

EDO EDO HA EDO HAA EDO I DOFF MY HAT FOR YOUR ETERNAL LIES....NONSENSE

Loooooooooool @ the emboldened.

You are one funny person yo! Really though, the story the Opal guy posted and the ones you posted goes to show Olokun worship lacks a strong role and system of worship in Bini. It does not seem like he deity is woven into the foundational system of Bini kingdom.

If they are not claiming Benin Bronze as coming from Ife, they are claiming Benin ancient religions as theirs.

1. No sir, you kept quiet because there's not so much you can add in the face of incontrovertible citations from my last post to you.

2. Archaic Bini words LOL! I see you guys are prope twist-artists. Unfortunately, all those Yoruba words you all use are nothing but borrowed Yoruba words. Isoko/Urhobo had took your archaic terms away 500 years ago and Ife had been existing 350 BCE, can you do the math of the period between 350 BCE & 15,000 BC? cheesy

3. There's nothing like numerical & educational advantage. The popularity of Ife is owed to Clapperton, Lander, Fobrenius and a whole lot of other Europeans. Are there no Bini historians too?

4. We are not petty like y'all. Festac mask is Bini and yes, we recognize what belongs to other people and respect it not approproate it like y'all do for relevance.

5. It may hurt you lot to have to deal with the fact that Yoruba gave you Oba, Bronze casting, Owo ivory, language & deities (Ifa, Ogun, Olokun) but you'd just have to live with it.

God bless Ile-Ife, the trend setting land and the whole of Yoruba land, the life giver to other groups in need of relevance cheesy

AreaFada2:

AreaFada2:

So you have not seen that list as shown here on NL MANY TIMES over the years yet you came forward to boldly claim nonsense as the truth or history? Wow!

Where they could not smuggle a stooge higher up in the ranking, they rewarded him in monetary terms. grin cheesy

Use your mb to search for it.

You Bini folks have a problem with history, honestly. Yet, when other people take the pains to construct proper history you begin to play victim card of numerical and educational strength.

Ooni may have been ranked second to Alaafin but never below Oba Bini. Oba Bini wey dey the same group as Oba Lagos, Olubadan and co? cheesy

Note: The first group to rate Ooni (Oghene) as the almighty were the Bini, they said this to the Portuguese themselves.

The problem with Bini people is they do not read.

2.With the colonial system in place, the Bini realized their mistake of rating Alaafin as the supreme king. Hence, their corrective measures since 1900s to correct this. The colonial area officers assigned to different Yoruba towns learnt of an Ooni who is the head in Yoruba land & I think excavations and datings of excavations done in Ife also played a major role in the reversal of British's ratings. Now, does the invitation of Ooni (not Oba Bini nor Oba of Lagos) to Lagos to settle crown dispute come to mind?

3. Sadly, Ijebu & Abeokuta revolted and went to war with the British as well as a host of other Yoruba towns. Again, you do not read and this is where your problem lies. Bini & Jaja revolting is nothing new, it is not some type of achievement or an exception.

4. In the proper ranking of Kings, in Yoruba land excluding Oduduwa's throne: Orangun Ile-Ila is the first and the eldest & Oranmiyan (Osile, Bini & Laafin) is the youngest and the last.

You lot do not read, you do not question the veracity of what you are fed from home - you just come here and operate with 'beef' and emotions.

To back up my theory that Bini history is based on twisting data from history of others and their ginormous level of ignorance to formulate their own history - see:

For instance, the one they call the Oba of Lagos, these are recent adaptations. In the 50s, there was no Oba of Lagos, what we had was the Eleko of Eko. That is the title of the King there. In Ibadan, you have the Olu Ibadan. You come to Abeokuta, you have the Alake of Egba land. You come to Oyo, you have the Alaafin of Oyo. In Ilesha, you have the Owa-Obokun of IIesha. So no Yoruba monarch had as part of his titles the word Oba except the Oba of Benin.

That word Oba is indigenous to Benin. It is only in recent times you find everybody bearing Oba.

http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/198255-benin-kingdom-edo-yoruba-territory-ooni-ife-adeyeye-ogunwusi.html

Coming from one of their monarchs, it is obvious the level if ignorance for the Bini starts from high places.

Oba as a term in Ife was originally for Kings who lost to Oduduwa and became Priest-King or outright compound Chiefs.

For example, in my family compound there are two ancestral lines:

Ilesu under Obalesun & Ilale under Obalale

Some of the chiefs of each line are: Obanunrin, Obalepon, Obaluru, Oba'le, Obaoro, Obarogbo, Obalato, Oba Akala, Oba Iwe to mention a few.

The 3 out of the 6 cheifs that ruled with Olofin of are: Obalufe, Obajio & Obalaaye

The head of the Ugbo people before they moved to Ilaje in Ondo is Obawinrin.

The head of Ugbo when they left was Obamakin.

Then there are very numerous Obas pegged to each deity/clan & each section of each clan; too numerous to count.

All have been in existence before Oduduwa & before Oranmiyan was born not to then mention Bini being founded.

How recent did Oba surface in Bini history, with Oranmiyan/Eweka but the dumb Esogban claimed Oba to be a Bini word. grin

I see similar problems with the Bini people on this thread & everywhere when it comes to history.

One can see the claim to Oba that Bini has is the need of Yoruba kings to latch on to unnecessary appellations thereby putting them on the same platform as their own chiefs.

I've seen situations where Ooni is introduced as Oba Enitan Ogunwusi then Obalufe as Oba or a very junior orisa chief introduced as Oba & I'm always like this does not make sense. Oba as a term is for chiefs and should be expunged from cognomens used for supreme monarchs.

It should be Ooni Ife, Babatunde Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

Alaafin Oyo, enter his name Lamidi III

Awujale Ijebu, Adetona, congnomen&number.

And so on.

What Stupid relationship!!

Hahahaha see them forming attachee

1. When Oyo held sway over the entire Yoruba (except Ife) land to as far as Togo, the British visited her in 1821. This same problem happened between Olugbo and Amapetu, the former seniors and came before the latter meanwhile during British visit to their parts, the latter was discovered and rated as proper king equal if not senior to the former.

Chai!

Your lies na wa o.

Benin rating Ooni as Oghene? Which weed do you smoke? Kwale abi Ekiti weed?

The Europeans rated the capital of Benin Empire as a "City" when no other Sub-saharan Kingdom town had that title. That was back in 1553. Even before that, Oba of Benin had been exchanging gifts of Bronze crucifixes & rosaries with the then powerful King of Portugal. The Europeans had observed Benin fighting in Eastern Yorubaland already centuries earlier (centuries before 1821).

How can the British now be rating Alaafin or anybody higher only in 1821, many centuries later? Did this ranking even become possible until after 1897 defeat when Benin was still a sovereign empire?

Nigeria needs to disband and let people go their separate ways. The lies peddled now are becoming infuriating.

Europeans favoured stooges in Colonial divide & rule system and punished stubborn and determined ones. Simple.

You still have not explained why Ooni of Ife was rated very low even by colonial masters since he had no history of any significant tussle with the Europeans.

In Yoruba land age is hardly any reason for seniority in royalty. The father of current Ooni is still alive, an abomination in Benin culture. So depending on individual connections, wealth, politics & prowess, any of Ododuwa child could have been higher in hierarchy. Except of course he (Ododuwa) used his native Benin tradition of seniority to give his children positions.

Don't tell me it used to be by age, that it only changed later. I know you guys to speak from both sides of your mouth.
The rise of Oyo was simply based on slave trade. Benin had already outlawed slavery and finally banned sale of anything (even pepper) to Europeans when they insisted on Benin supplying slaves. Oyo made plenty of money from slavery. Hence the large Yoruba slave diaspora that Yoruba kings go to visit with pomp every time. A shameful thing in my opinion.

Till today Benin has no slave diaspora. Something quite unique. Aside the very few raided & stolen while trading into foreign lands. Enforcing slave ban shaped the history of my own family. Because just like narcotics today, a few people tried to flout the law in cahoots with outsiders.

When I first argued that Benin banned slave trade well before it became very lucrative from 1650s & 1700s, people here on NL were shouting lie, lie, lie. That was 6 years ago. Soon after a document showing origins of all slaves supplied from Sub-Sahara Africa was posted by someone.

Lo & behold, Benin was not even recorded by Europeans as a slave origin place, for they meticulously recorded everything then. But European records abound on how no Benin slaves or Benin slave traders were typically among slave people/sellers even in the fringes of the Empire. Both sellers & slaves were listed as Igbo, Yoruba, Igalla, etc

One was such record by A French slave trader, called Landolphe in February 1778. He visited Benin & met Chief Ezomo, leading field commander of Royal Army. A man with a standing army of 10,000 under him. Landolphe thought he had found easy cargo but Ezomo refused to sell a single person..

But none of those who initially shouted lies was civilised or man enough to apologise.

Benin has only always highlighted kinship with their son Ekaladerhan (Izoduwa/Ododuwa) while all we have had with Oyo is business & mutual respect such as the Treaty of Otun (Northern Ekiti) between Aare Ona Kakanfo of Oyo & Iyase Ekpenede of Benin. Kankanfo planted date palm while facing Oyo & Iyase planted Ikhinmwin tree while facing Benin. That demarcated Benin & Oyo Empires.

Try to read widely first, not just those ethno-centric pseudo intellectuals whose work you read.

Read for example Alan Ryder's book: Benin & The Europeans-1485-1897.

Stop giving them what they dont have!! What education are you talking about?

I served in one village like dat called ogbomoso IN OYO (albiet in thier eyes na town grin grin) cheesy

Them nor sabi speak pidgin english TALKLESS OF ENGLISH!! grin cheesy

I had to literally carry a small yoruba boy along with me anytime i went to the market and give him money to eat later...

Thier girls always frolicked around me i had a steady supply of **** translators to translate numerious gbagaun and such grin cheesy haha

THAT WAS THE MOMENT IT DAWNED ON ME HOW FAR AWOLOWO LIES AND IBADAN PRINTING PRESS BUILT WITH COCOA AND RUBBER MONEY FROM BENIN REALLY HELPED THIS PEOPLE!! grin grin grin
Lol.
I am not even talking of general literacy as it is today. I mean they earlier had higher education and got into govt positions, seizing the civil war to occupy positions Igbo formerly dominated.

So when deciding what to teach in schools as history or curriculum, they have that edge. Now is Nigeria essentially WAZOBIA. If FESTAC was to hold today, tribalism would never allow Idia mask to be used as the face of it. Simple fact.

Osogbo is too far sef. Within Lagos there a large number cannot even speak pidgin. I remember kids around fifteen who could not say "I'll be right back, I do not have change right now" and similar simple stuff in pidgin.

One day I saw a group of Igbo guys, apparently new in Lagos. I was passing by on my street around 9 am that day. The shop boy kept saying "ma pada wa". The guys kept asking where are you going with our money na? grin cheesy cheesy I was shocked that I needed to tell those guys what he meant.
So very common, seen it.

So you have not seen that list as shown here on NL MANY TIMES over the years yet you came forward to boldly claim nonsense as the truth or history? Wow!

Where they could not smuggle a stooge higher up in the ranking, they rewarded him in monetary terms. grin cheesy

Use your mb to search for it.
in order words you cannot defend your claims. unless you have decided to turn yourself to a waste of time, you should provide evidence to support your claim when asked, i cannot hold to your words by faith

the Alake provided his own evidence, and in a gathering of intellectuals, evidence ends the subject, mad people and intellectually challenged fellows can keep arguing but what is - is!

Actually, I am even trying to think of popular prople with Awo in their names right now, And Awolowo is the only Remo man among them. The others are from Ekiti, Osun, Ondo Etc

The guy does not know Ifa and names that has Awo prefix. Awolaju, awoyeku, aworeni, awotinde are all names from ife.
