Hello Gurus in the House.

I'm applying for an MSc at the University of Stavanger.

I have some questions for you;

1.Kindly advise me if I can also apply for my wife (no kids yet) to accompany me to Norway once granted admission. (pls note: I already have equivalent of NOK103,950 for living expenses in my Nigerian account)

2.What's the pay like for part time jobs on the average in Norway as a student.

3. Kindly confirm if it's true that you need to have NOK 238k in your account to apply for a job search visa in Norway once your are done with your masters.

4.Did you have to do medicals or get police clearance to apply for Norwegian visa.

5. What's the possibility of applying for PR in Norway after my MSc programme or wld you advise applying for another masters just to extend my stay there.

6. I read somewhere that another option to explore is to apply for skilled immigration in either Canada or Australia while pursuing your masters in Norway... What do you think?

Your response will go a long way in helping me decide on my next line of action.

Thanks.

Job no dey Norway oooo...

1. You can apply for your wife as well, but her visa will most likely be approved after you have arrived Norway.
2. Get the job first. Any job at all in Norway pays well enough to live fine.
3. True. I already said so earlier. Check udi.no for more.
4. No need for any of those, visa application is very straightforward. Submit required documents as seen on udi.no with no mistake and go home.
5. I answered that question recently, check previous pages. Anyhow you choose to stay back is possible. The choice is yours, just have the supporting funds.
6. You can immigrate to those countries even from Nigeria, people do it steady. Though some opine it's easier from a developed country.

SO SPOT ON! THANKS.
Bandeco:

First, Congratulations on ur excellent CGPA.
You stand a great chance to be admitted in any relevant masters program in any country not just Norway. You might even win a scholarship with that cgpa..

Second, your first degree in international studies and history cannot avail you admission to study MSc international business because u need a business or economic related BSc degree with strong mathematics background to do MSc international business . And No. As a Nigerian, It's not compulsory to do toefl or ielts to be granted admission in Norway. Norway recognizes Nigeria as an English language spoken country.

Third, now bad news for you. If you are looking forward to stay in Norway to work after graduation please look elsewhere. Student residence permit does not form a basis for permanent residence/long-term residence in Norway. This means that Norway does not grant post study work permit to international students. Norway like Britain expects you to return to ur homeland after studies. Even tougher now that immigration is big issue in Europe cos of the influx of large number of refugees.
If you want to comfortably stay on and work, look towards Germany, Sweden (tuition applies), Finland, Canada (tuition applies), Australia( tuition applies)

wud lyk to apply for undergraduate studies in norway..bt i heard d embassy dnt giv visas to undagraduate, plz hw true is that?

JagaJaga1:
You need to provide an account statement to the school at this initial stages of application but you have to pay the money to a norwegian bank when you get admitted. Just note that most nowegian varsities admit students once a year [Summer session]. What program and school are you applying to? Note that Norwegian embassy doesn't give visas to applicants going for undergraduate studies.

~One more question: Why are you using an agent when you can do it  yourself? That agent doesn't know anybody in the school or at the embassy.

@effizy NTNU is one of the best universities in the world and there is a possibility of you getting a job before you graduate as oil coy come for career fair in the school. But first get application form to enable you send in your documents before you start bothering.

congrats.when did you apply and did they waive d tuition for u?
Re: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by chaiks: 7:03pm On Mar 24, 2017
Bandeco:

Sorry you can not. In addition to your o-level you need atleast 100 level University education.

You can look at neighboring Sweden. With just waec you can get admission. But know that Sweden charges TUITION FEES. The least you get is SEK90k~3.1million per year.

Canada too offers BSc admission for Nigerian waec holders. Tuition also applies
hello bandeco.pls can Sweden still waive tuition for masters even due they v imposed tuition payment?

Yes only if you are awarded scholarships.

Nearly all Sweden's University offer partial or full tuition waiver if you are awarded.

Government institutions like Swedish Institute and visby offer full tuition waiver and gives stipends for living expenses.

NO SCHOLARSHIP IN SWEDEN AS A MASTERS STUDENT..
Re: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by phermi: 9:27pm On Mar 25, 2017
Congrats to uchboggy. I likewise just got admitted to USN to study energy and enviromental technology.
However, my major concern is definitely the fact that I may not be able to stay back after my msc because for now Naija is not an option for me after 8 years without a reasonable job.
But if anyone has an idea of what I can possibly do after my studies to remain or other practicable options to relocate to another country that I would gladly appreciate.
Thanks for helpful suggestions in advance.

NO SCHOLARSHIP IN SWEDEN AS A MASTERS STUDENT..
There are plenty scholarships for masters student .. Swedish Institute, Visby scholarship, Lund University global scholarship etc etc

My own prospective university in växjö has its own scholarship(of which I have applied to) and so do many other universities.
.
it is worthy to note that you will be competing with so many other candidates from around the world. With luck, great academic performance and great motivation letter, you might just be awarded a scholarship
