Just take an example, Northern Nigeria was seized by the British simply to prevent the French from grabbing it first. No other reason. Niger Republic is over 70% Hausa speaking. Most of the Kanem-Bornu empire was in Chad. They then turned around and merged it with the southern part of their booty because it was "administratively convenient", while continuing to rule each half using totally different systems, again because it was convenient.

In all these, there was no consideration for the indigenous people. Their needs, wants and aspirations. After the Second World War, Britain was broke, her industries whose requirement for raw materials necessitated the colonies in the first place were now in terminal decline. So she dropped the colonies like so much excess baggage.


It's therefore quite amazing that after so many decades young Africans claiming to be Afrocentric want to maintain these unworkable colonial relics as though they were created by God himself rather than abominations crafted for the convenience of your enemies.

Why adopt the English Language? A new Africa should be looking to shed colonial connections, not reinforce them. Not sure what you mean by abolishing ''tribes''. Some of those ''tribes'' as you call them, contain up to 50 million or more people.

Look at this lovely thread and the dignity it bestows on black race. But it saddens my heart to see some black people condemning and refuting the evidences without blinking an eye. These people are the "do no good", saboteurs and haters of their skin. There were many of them during slavery era, they were known as house niggas. These people will fight with every drop of their blood to make sure black people remain inferior to their white "mastas". These house niggas during slavery maltreated their fellow blacks more than white mastas did for them. An example is Samuel Jackson character in Django. Every race has haters of their skin among them but the number of self skin haters among black race is beyond imagination. I saw that thread sometime ago. Problem is I have personal issues with the Moors. By 710 AD when they conquered Spain, Europe was still in total darkness, instead of taking them to slavery they were busy teaching them ancient African sciences. The moors had to show Spain how to make soap, medicine, and dress, e.t.c and were able to develop their cities giving them their first township in Barcelona and Madrid. Fast forward to about the 1500's, only God knows what they were doing when Spain over-threw them. Not just over-throw them, but took them to Slavery. Most black historians said the moors were the first people to be shipped to slavery in the Caribbean by a certain pope to Haiti. When Europeans saw slavery was profitable, they later began the scramble for Africa to source for more slaves and eventually took over our lands and governments which brought us to where we're today. So, the moors despite their initial achievements, it didn't end well. The moors brought us slavery!!.

This is why I hate it when you have Africans believing the cooked up lies by Europeans that Africans were savages enslaving each other. If slavery was an established industry in Africa, the moors would have taken Spain and Portugal to slavery!!. But, they couldn't because the concept of buying and selling human beings was alien to us.

If history could be rewind, the moors should have just remained in North Africa without venturing into Europe.

We have for too long lived in the image and likeness of other races and other cultures. We have accepted their dress, their diets, their languages, their gods, their customs, etc. And what has it done for us? Nothing but inequality and hatred.

Africa is the cradle of mankind.

The ancestors of all modern humans on this planet had a black skin.

Modern humans started migrating from Africa to the rest of the world.

Earlier civilizations like the Sumerians and Egyptian (heavily influenced by the Nubians) had significant black populations. As the times progressed, multiple civilizations cropped up in different parts of the world--from the Mayans, Incans and Aztecs of South America to the Indians of the Indian sub-continent.

Black Africans thus MUST have traveled to these civilizations, like we do in this day. In them days, exotic was welcomed and cherished not discarded. As such blacks and whites were slaves in societies just as blacks and whites existed as free men.

But it is very important not to translate this to black superiority in the Ancient world. Of course, the Moors were blacks, and of course Spain was their footstool. But that was not the beginning of black involvement in European culture.

Black individuals were already part of the European culture even as far as Scandinavia (which is why there were some black Vikings, note black Vikings, not black Viking clans) before the Moors invaded Spain. Evident by the names they bore. These are like the current black British or French citizens (minus the slavery part). Blacks as individuals (note not as groups) traveled far and wide, and many of them assimilated to the respective civilizations and were accorded the right of free men.

Which is why you'd find a copious black population in the Indian sub continent even before the beginning of recent slavery.

And therein lies the major problem. Blacks as individuals left Africa to other magnificent civilizations, while civilizations in sub-Saharan Africa barely progressed in a revolutionary way.

Of course, you can talk about the Tuaregs, the Binis, the Dahomeys, Timbuktu et cetera; but you can never compare any core African civilization to the Egyptian (mixed civilization of blacks and whites), Babylonian, Assyrian, Persian, Indian, Aztec, Greco-Macedonian, Roman, Mayan, Incan, Han, Japanese empires. Even the Carthage empire founded by the Phoenicians in today Tunisia that rivaled the Roman Empire was miles ahead of any core African civilization of the time.

The wall in Edo may be the largest man-made structure, but it pales in comparison to the Great Pyramid of Giza, Great wall of China, the Taj Mahal, or the Aztec city of Gold sacked by the Spaniards. There is nothing in the Entire sub-Saharan African sub-continent that rivals any of those civilizations.

Which is exactly like it is today. Black individuals excel elsewhere in the world, but African countries where black individuals congregate are wastelands. And while you can have select places like Lekki, high brow parts of Kigali, high brow parts of Nairobi look like decent conclaves, the vast mass of the African continent is sh*t. That's exactly how erstwhile kingdoms like the Oyo Empire et al may have looked like decent conclaves but did not rival the peak of human civilization while the vast mass of the African continent was sh*t.

We have to look past the European civilizations. Earth had known far grander civilizations before the Roman, Greco-Macedonian, and the Holy Roman Empires. Sub-Saharan Africa has no answer for these grander civilizations. There is now evidence that some civilizations in sub-Saharan Africa may have used written language, but there is ZERO doubt that this written language is closer to an hieroglyphic than a written language like was used by the Babylonians, Assyrians, Indians.

The Indian sub-continent halted Alexander the Great in his tracks. A sub-continent supposedly locked away from the known world at the time was ravishing in beauty, wealth, astronomy, arts, medicine, and military strategy than even that found in the known world. Ditto for the great South American ancient civilizations. Why is the case of sub-Saharan African civilizations different?

The Egyptian empire was the second most prolific empire in chronology after the Sumerians. It was in close proximity to the rest of sub-Saharan Africa, why did it not have any rival in all of sub-Saharan Africa? Even the black Sudanese Nubian civilization was inferior to the Egyptian empire and was eventually assimilated into Lower Egypt.

The leader of the Moors that conquered Spain had an Arabic name. The richest person to have ever existed was a black with an Arabic derivative name Musa. He was a Muslim. The Moors were muslims. So before the Arabs conquered black Africans, why didn't black civilizations rule the Europeans?

If we are to go by the Moor account to prove black superiority, then we should call the Arabs superior because they colonized and influenced the Moors (berbers and other black North African populations).

Black individuals already had an identity in Europe, Arabia, and the rest of the world before the Moors attacked. They found their place in these civilizations and were able to rise to the pinnacle of society because the host societies welcomed exoticism. Black, Caucasian, Asian; it was like the color of the rainbow.

When the Moors attacked and for the next 900 years, it simply continued the status quo for black individuals in Europe. But when the indigenous white population took back their lands, the Moors had nothing but empty desert to flee back to. They did not even build a comparable civilization in their home land. How could they, the Arabs gave them their identity, and still dictate to them to this day.

You cannot claim to be superior when your lands were at best average throughout history. All our civilizations we like to yap about are all younger than Indian, South American, and Chinese civilizations yet they were all lacking in sophistication than civilizations that were older than them. And while the Europeans quickly revamped their newer civilization, black Africans stayed dormant like zombies virtually changing nothing about their newer civilization.

The Egyptians had advance boating technology. Yet, there is no African kingdom or Empire that had advanced boating technology like that of the Egyptians much more the Babylonians, Persians, Vikings, Indians, or Chinese. All we had was canoes. And you want to call that an advanced civilization because roads were paved? Roads were already paved in Egypt at least 2000 years before the Bini or Ife Empire was conceived. The Appian Way of the old Roman Empire is more advanced than any road network in all of Ancient Africa. The Babylonian built walls on which chariots rode. And you call the Edo wall a marvel. It's just a pile of earth that cannot even match the complexity of the Pyramids not to mention the Great Wall of China that can be seen from space.

As individuals, many black Africans are like every other human being--creative, hardworking, intelligent, able to assimilate and aspire for greatness. As a group, black Africans are the most backward filths to have ever walked the Earth.

That is why individual blacks became poets, knights, noblemen in non-African ancient civilizations (at least one Pharoah is black). But could not as a group form a civilization that was not a bunch of marauding simpletons with only very basic organization. You can never compare the organization in Oyo or Bini to that of the Sassanid Empire that existed hundreds of years before the Oyos and Binis built a kingdom.

And it is why even with people like Martin Luther King, Mandela, Achebe, Soyinka, Emegheali, Obama and many other individual blacks of extraordinary intellect and worldwide acclaim; black Africans as a group have fared worse than every other indigenous people given Independence.

The total number of enslaved blacks transported to the New World was approximately 12.5 million people. Hitler killed 6 million Jews in less than 5 years. The Jews were killed, hunted, and banished severally in several regions of the world including North Africa for over 3000 years. You don't see them with an entitlement mentality like Africans. And let's not forget it was black Africans that sold black Africans to the Europeans before the Europeans eventually colonized sub-Saharan Africa.

Tell me, what has been sub-Saharan contribution to the sciences, mathematics, philosophy, languages, astronomy, medicine et cetera in the ancient world? Don't name the Moors. First they're not sub-Saharan as they've been a minute part of the Nubian, ancient Egyptian empires, and were again rebranded by the Arabs. But Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, Indians, Chinese, Mayans, Incans, Arabs contributed in more ways than one before the Europeans super-charged everything during the Renaissance period.
