I really want to know who is the advisory to purchase.
As far as the 12 tin can birds would do a fine job of wiping out those infidels I have no problem with it.

You think you can win terrorist groups ??

The USA which is the strongest country on earth woefully lost their fight in Vietnam, Japan, Iraq and Afghanistan

Keep on dreaming about the fight jets

USA does not sell weapons to foreign countries they don't have control over
Like you rightly said, the U.S does not sell weapons to countries they have no control over.
But then again, they have money to make here, secondly it is way of keeping us from running to the East, precisely Russia or China which the U.S would not want to happen.

In my opinion, if the U.S is not ready to sell the likes of F18 to us, they should keep these ones because we can get them with a cheaper price from Russia or China.....

Breaking: Trump agrees to sell $600m arms to Nigeria for fight against Boko Haram.

When the civil war ended in 1970, the best thing Awolowo thought was to steal all the money in Igbo people's account and replace it with 25 pounds. While at that, Nigeria suspended Chemical Engineering at UNN (till date) and other SE tertiary institutions.

Nigeria didn't bother to ask Biafrans how they made their arms, ammunition and tanks that helped them wipe 300,000 Nigerian soldiers during the war with little or no foreign help.

Today, as South Africa is making war planes, the gullible Zombies are celebrating the shipping of a whopping $600 million (247bn naira) hard currency to USA for buying simple arms they could have manufactured for themselves if they weren't ethnic bigots and psychological idiots.

Tufiakwa. Nigeria is cursed.

Lordsocrates:

he Trump administration will move forward with the sale of high-tech aircraft to Nigeria for its campaign against Boko Haram Islamic, The Washington Post has reported citing U.S. officials.

Congress is expected to receive formal notification within weeks, setting in motion a deal with Nigeria that the Obama administration had planned to approve at the very end of Barack Obama’s presidency.

The arrangement will call for Nigeria to purchase up to 12 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft with sophisticated targeting gear for nearly $600 million, one of the officials said.

The officials were not authorized to discuss the terms of the sale publicly and requested anonymity to speak about internal diplomatic conversations.

Though President Donald Trump has made clear his intention to approve the sale of the aircraft, the National Security Council is still working on the issue. Military sales to several other countries are also expected to be approved but are caught up in an ongoing White House review. Nigeria has been trying to buy the aircraft since 2015.

The Nigerian air force has been accused of bombing civilian targets at least three times in recent years. In the worst incident, a fighter jet on Jan. 17 repeatedly bombed a camp at Rann, near the border with Cameroon, where civilians had fled from Boko Haram.

That bombing occurred on the same day the Obama administration intended to officially notify Congress the sale would go forward. Instead, it was abruptly put on hold, according to an individual who worked on the issue during Obama’s presidency. Days later, Trump was inaugurated.

Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, said this past week that he supported the A-29 deal to Nigeria as well as the sale of U.S.-made fighter jets to Bahrain that had been stripped of human rights caveats imposed by the Obama administration.

Once Congress is officially notified of the sale, lawmakers who want to derail it have 30 days to pass veto-proof legislation. That’s a high hurdle given Corker’s support. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., chairman of the Armed Services Committee, also said he backs the sale.

In Trump’s first phone call with Buhari in February, he “assured the Nigerian president of U.S. readiness to cut a new deal in helping Nigeria in terms of military weapons to combat terrorism,” according to Buhari’s office.

Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, said in mid-February he was “leery” of the sale because of the Nigerian military’s impunity. Cardin said this week he’s not trying to block the deal.

“Ultimately we hope that the sale goes forward,” he said. “But there is progress that needs to be made in protecting the civilian population.”

This is all about idiocy that has taken residency in Nigeria and means to loot. Why would USA sell A-29 Super Tucano aircraft built by Brazilian Corporation called Embraer. I had rather buy WWII era P-51 fighter than this so-called A-29 Super Tucano. Nigerians tend to association the Daura Dumbass aka Muhammadu Buhari with the fight against corruption however Muhammadu Buahri is the twin brother of corruption. A plane with a list price of $14m...

Even with ammo and spares it shouldn't exceed a unit price of $30m each...

And Nigeria wants to buy 12 units for $600m each... Or $50m each...

Why is there a padding of circa $20m on each plane?

Issokay...Kontinu...

I no be fighter jet pilot I, but IMHO, even the Chengdu J-10 or JF-17 fighter jets are better than this turboprop crap. And they are way cheaper than the price Nigeria is gonna pay the USA for the useless A-29. Those are Chinese fighters of better capabilities than the Embraer nonsense...

And if we must spend $50m a pop for each fighter jet, then buy us the Sukhoi T-50 which is one of the best you can get right now it if you wanna be modest buy us the Sukhoi SU-30 which is a very capable fighter that even the US respects. But those and see Boko Haram flee line the dogs that they are with their tails between their legs!!!

what is your point exactly? all these sad youth on social media that cant make a straight argument. Why would you rather buy a WW2 era plane? what do you know about the A-29 super tucano? is it inferior? is it prone to faults? do you have facts or you just louding off senselessly? i initially thought you were coming form the angle that the Brazilian version of the same aircraft though manufactured under a different name by the same company in brazil was purchased by other countries like Ghana, mali at about 14million dollars each as against this american built version we intend to purchase at about 50million dollars each. That would have been a reasonable argument.

Russia can sell better planes at lesser price than these. Am interested in my country having the best air power. Even if we should get stuffs like these, just 6 is enough not 12, maybe use the remaining money to get 2 or 3 better and stronger machines, China do produce very good fighter planes. To me these planes look like what I can bring down with stone.

We can get the su 25s, a flying tank or even the a10 wartog since we love wwII planes.

I disagree.

You mention the SU25 but it might interest you to knoe that nigeria has an equivalent on order which is the J10 Thunder. The warthog is a heavily armoured jet which is used against armed radar ad entrenched ground forces. It is useless againt ambulatory forces.

Nigeria has made an excellent choice in the super tucano. It has the loiter capabilities of a helicopter, good avionics and decent mix of weaponry. Its exactly what is needed against mobile insurgent groups. You buy weapons for your range of influence and your battle field scenarios. You dont buy best of breed just forvthe sake ofbit. . Nigerias aerial surveillance planes; the ATR42, the new Tucanos, the J10 Thunder , CH4 armed drones and its Mi series helicopter gunships are adequate for its regional influence.

By the way there is a good reason nigeria doesnt buy US weaponry. The Leehy Act can stop countries receiving resupplies and parts simply on the basis of an amnesty report. No country wants its inventory tied to an amnesty international report! This sale has initial authorization by the US government - third party licence - but the actual sales will be by Brazil.

Equiptment wise, the armed forces are on the up.

I will agree to some extent because am not an authority in military planes especially in the wartong aspect but that our drone is still packaged in nylon bag and parked away in one hidden hanger, it is not armed at all maybe it has some camera now the j10 you talked about, brother have you heard that plane do anything recently, are you sure it is even still operational.
Am not against we buying those tucanos but 12 is too much, six is okay.

I think Nigerians are rightly dubious about any claims by the FGN. They have been repeatedly lied to and abused. However we should also ensure that we do our research so as obtain a picture that goes beyond our prior experiences.

1. The Nigerian CH4 drone is active and has seen extensive action in the north east and even Eropo in Ògun state. Here is a short video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abOJ-TbViuU

2. The NAF has taken part delivery of the J10. It is a 4 generation aircraft and pilots are in conversion training.

3. The NAF engineering is doing great. Together with innoson it has refitted rockets on abandoned alpha jets and overseen the upgrading of several aircraft

3. TheATR surveillance planes can identify hostiles snd bring in drones, aircraft or helicopters while maintaining air surveillance over the AOI.

I think the NAF has come a long way and we should recognize that while encouraging them to do more
