Changing the motherboard of your laptop doesn't affect your files. Your files are stored in your hard drive and not motherboard. Hence go ahead and change the motherboard , your files are safe

I have Dell XPS M1530. Sometimes, when the laptop is powered, it dispays on the screen and sometimes it doesn't display. Any solution to initiate this problem? Also, my battery is dead and it goes off when power supply is cut off

Really funny thing your friend did. You can erase the name by spraying it with the appropriate color. Before that, something like a sandpaper can be use to make it smooth.

From your explanation, your screen is likely faulty or going bad.
To confirm this, when you put the laptop on, press the CAPS button and see if the light isresponding as you are pressing it. if the lights is responding and no display on screen, then your screen is bad.
If not, an engineer is worth seeing.
I also believe your Dell uses an Intel motherboard.... if not let me know

Yes it uses Intel motherboard. I connected it to an external monitor and it displayed but I noticed that part of the display at the bottom right-hand corner (where the time taskbar is) was flickering as if it was in contact with something I couldn't see (the screen is touch) or maybe it's just the external monitor

But am puzzled, it's barely up to three months since I bought this laptop and I always handle it with care. What could have caused it?

Just like other devices, anything can go wrong with it anytime. Buying and using a laptop for a long time without issues has an element of luck attached to it. Some devices get faulty after a short time while others stay much longer.

From my experience as a laptop technician, Dell laptops are usually selective in the charger that is compatible with individual laptops. I advice you try another battery and several chargers before giving it to a motherboard technician for checking.

i believe you meant hp 250. That battery is obviously bad. You are gonna change it.

Update the wireless driver of the laptop from device manager. Dont download using google.

Activate your windows 7 by getting an activation CD from those guys selling softwares. Its cheap and simple to use.
