A lot of young men in the world today face a dilemma, do they get married while they're young, settle down and start a family. Or do they use the wild years of youth exploring the world and settle down when they've got age, experience, and finances on their side. As for me I want to do both, without further ado here are seven reasons why I want to get married in my twenties.

1. Couples who marry younger enjoy more sex

Studies have shown that younger couples have more sex on average than their older counterparts, how would you not be active when you wake up every morning with a beautiful woman by your side?. An added bonus is that you can do this without the anxiety associated with avoiding unwanted pregnancies and STDs. What comes with having lots of sex?, I hope you guessed babies because

2. Younger couples are likely to have more children

It is common knowledge that a woman is in her sexual prime during her late teen and early adult years (18 - 24 ), ladies who marry early tend to have more children due to higher fertility rates in young women. It's also healthier for a mother to carry her child young, because the risk of having birth complications increases with age, its also healthy for the child. For example, the risk of giving birth to a baby with Down's Syndrome increases with the mother's age.

At age 20 the risk is 1 in 1,600

At age 25 the risk is 1 in 1,300

At age 30 the risk is 1 in 1,000

At age 35 the risk is 1 in 365

At age 40 the risk is 1 in 90

At age 45 the risk is 1 in 30

Younger couples also have more energy to raise kids, which can be useful when dealing with the sleepless nights that some children are known to cause.

3. Opportunity to reclaim your life's passions(or find new ones)

If you get married in your twenties, and you were done having kids on your thirties, most if not all of your kids would be out of the house before you clock 50 or a little after that. This frees up your time, which you can now use to reclaim your passions or find new ones. This can be anything; playing the piano, art, travelling the world, or starting a business.

4. You get to be a cool grandparent

Since you're younger, you'll probably find it easier to keep up with the grandkids. This will in turn help you build a strong relationship with them.

5. You can get married without family pressure

If you get married early, you can skip the episodes of uncles and aunties berating you and holding family meetings to find out why you're still single. The men won't have to go through two hour lectures with their fathers, outlining why a man at 40 should have a wife and at least two kids. The women won't have to get into rush hour marriages when their biological clock starts ticking. Seriously, get married young and you can avoid a whole lot of drama.

6. It makes you more responsible

First off, getting married young will help you avoid most of the excess baggage that young people tend to accumulate (numerous ex boyfriends/girlfriends, heartbreaks etc). Secondly, seeing as you've got a family looking up to you, you're forced to man up and shoulder your responsibilities. This leaves you with little to no room to play funny games, your wife is depending on you, and your kids are watching you, so you've got to set an example. You're expected to be a provider and cater for your family which is not a bad thing because

7. Married men earn more

Why wouldn't you work hard to make dough when you've got your nuclear and extended families looking up to you. Having a family is a huge motivator for men to be productive, and this leaves no room for idleness. Unless, you want to end up like Karl Marx who had four of his children die of starvation simply because he wouldn't man up and support his family. (He was too busy laying the groundwork for communism).

That's it seven reasons why I want to get married young. Do you agree with my reasons?, or do you think a man should wait longer before he thinks of getting married?. Your comments below.

PS- This is not the end, next week( hopefully) I'll post an article giving reasons why I want to get married in my 30s. So keep your eyes open for the next thread.
