Some of the major modes realized so far in UTTAM AESA radar for LCA are

1)Air-Air mode

a Target acquisition mode
b Countermeasure support mode
c Performance monitoring
d Multi target track
e Weapon systems support

2)Air to sea mode

a Target detection and tracking-ISAR and RS

3) Air to ground mode

a Real beam mapping
b Strip map
c Spotlight mode
d Air to ground ranging and terrain avoidance
e GMTI
f GMTT

4) Target search and track

All these modes are interleaved that means they are performed one after the other sequentially however since the time scales are in micro seconds it appears near simultaneous to the pilot.

The main constraint to the AESA is the power and cooling requirements from the fighter platform.

The design of X-band T/R modules package also known as "planks" have been realized in the country for the first time and patented. LRDE Bangalore hold the patent.

They have settled with vacuum brazing technology for manufacturing these planks in India.

They're 3 variants of this plank- 4, 6 and 8 T/R module.

These QTRM planks form the building blocks of not only fighter jet AESA radar but also a lot of other strategic AESA radars under design and development at DRDO.

it will take another 1-2 years to completely develop the airborne AESA UTTAM radar.

by that time Kaveri engine should be up and running to its desired thrust level with french help.

it would then make LCA truly indigenous all done at a low cost of less than 3 billion dollars.

Good, this is a more elaborate answer. Much better than the answer you provided in the past.

Moving on, the Iskander missile, I've read a bit on it, but what is it actually, what's it's blast radius and on what sort of targets can it be used?

Your opinion on the Iskander generally.

generally dont know much about it

since it is short range ballistic missile so my POV is based on prithvi missiles which belongs to the same class though may not be of the same capability

such missiles r used to target fixed sites or semi mobile equipment's. during the initiation of a war u want to degrade the logistics and offensive/defensive capabilities of the enemy as early as possible and this is where such weapons come into play.

it short it is designed for both
1.counterforce targeting eg. military command and control facilities , airfields , ammo and fuel depots , staging areas etc
2.countervalue targeting eg. civilian communication and transportation nodes with military applicability etc

if CEP is less than 10m or so then it can be used to target large groups of mobile/semi mobile targets too (eg. armored columns, artillery clusters etc ) with cluster warhead, a fuel-air explosive warhead, EMP warhead or even a nuclear warhead .

Iskander uses inertial guidance, GPS / GLONASS inputs and even optical DSMAC for terminal homing ,so it has high accuracy.

plus it allegedly uses different flight profiles, all executable/inter-switchable in flight ,something which made US take interest in Prithvi missiles too.

anyways blast radius will depend on the type of explosives , warhead types and point of detonation (altitude) etc

this basically serves 2 purpose
1.makes interception hard
2.allows for exceptionally low minimum range (increases utility of missile for a much wider range targeting)

anyways blast radius will depend on the type of explosives , warhead types and point of detonation (altitude) etc

iskander has capability to hit targets from minimum 50 km to maximum of 500/600 km

the minimum range is specially impressive. very hard to achieve in a ballistic missile , as the missile has to expand its huge amount of its energy within a short time.

how they do it in iskander is not known to me.

my best guess is energy depleting maneuvers by the missile, this is serious capability and has huge ramification while designing ABMs where such maneuvers r required if target closes in very fast unexpectedly.

pics energy management steering maneuver / energy depleting maneuvers by THAAD missile

GHATAK PROJECT FOR UNMANNED COMBAT AERIAL VEHICLE

A lead-in project for “Design of GHATAK and Development of Critical Advanced Technologies for GHATAK and AMCA” was sanctioned for Rs.231.00 crores on 13th May 2016.

Major technologies to be developed under this lead-in project are broadly classified under five technology areas viz.,

Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Autonomous flight control technologies
Aerodynamics and Propulsion technologies
Stealth computations, measurements, structures & materials
Technologies for GHATAK systems

Focused advanced design tools for MultiDisciplinary Optimization (MDO) using a HPC computing infrastructure will be developed for flying wing configuration improvement studies. Levels of flight autonomy will be increased through testing of ATOL and FADS on LCA and scaled autonomous flight demonstration of GHATAK. Through 1/6 scaled flight model of GHATAK, technologies like control law for flying wing, fluidic thrust vectoring and stealth materials will be tested and evaluated in a cost effective way. TRLs of critical advanced technologies like conformal antenna, SAR, EO/IR, FADS shall be improved and adapted for GHATAK. Full scale GHATAK RCS model will be tested at ORANGE facility to evaluate RCS hot spots and to enable RCS reduction. Weapon release studies and deployment mechanism would be studied using high fidelity unsteady CFD modeling of URANS. Effective ejector based cooling mechanism for embedded high aspect ratio nozzle will be combined with ECS cooling requirements along with compact heat exchangers.

It looks like the Paris air show is now over.

The highlight been the public flight show of the F-35. Some respindents were all over the bird with glowing reviews of a fantastic flight display, and i was......................... WTF!! undecided undecided undecided

Are those people blind?

The fat bird could do nothing in the air. It is more of a spacecraft than an aircraft.

Russian SU-35S demonstration showed some serious maneuverable skills. This plane doesn't have any moves. Basically, flies like every other planes out there.

not many know there was a time when Norway used to support insurgency in India especially the christian militant groups. they still do ,but limited in scope nowadays.

NSCIM militant group leadership used to operate from Norway, also surprise surprise LTTE was provided considerable support.

they also used to fund evangelist groups to convert Hindus etc

so in the 1980s Indian intel orgs got a small payback , they vanished a Norwegian cargo ship , loaded with Norwegian heavy water (used in nuclear reactors) from European waters.

the Norwegians were clueless at first but later satellite pics of an Indian salvage yard gave them hints to what might have transpired with their ship.

they went to ICJ against India , but nothing happened as there was no hard evidence only circumstantial ones .

what happened to the crew nobody knows ,maybe sea food ,but i aint shedding tears.

note: all this was not only limited to making cargo ships disappear ,their air cargoes used to vanish too lolzz

this is how to a small extent Norwegian interference in Indian state matters was curtailed

I'm aware Norwegian Peoples Aid was shipping SAMs to the SPLA in aid shipments but what I wonder in all this is:is it their own agenda or someone else's? Why would a small insignificant country in Scandinavia of all places do this ish?

@newafricaken254

this is why i had my doubts..............

every MRAP has V shaped hull which deflects the blast force outwards or atleast tries to inorder to mitigate extensive hull damage.

that is why MRAPs tend to loose their suspension and tires in a IED blast,
unless a EFP based IED was used , which due to imperfect machining of the liner and due to loosing its energy via penetration of the hull would find it hard to inflict damage to the roof . plus EFP based IED blast effects r localized at point of impact only as it simply cuts through Armour , not blow doors and shatter the whole body/hull.

also i tried to google about the blast ,came up with non official twitter link only

u have photos of the surgical gloves and cloths etc on site ?

Isn't it also possbile this was a GIANT FVCKING IED bigger than everything else previously?
IJS.

Yes,supposedly the Vatican elite tied up with international high crimes and finance. What do you know?

one of the most effective and ruthless intelligence organizations of the world,

all becz nobody can tie them with any of its operations and they r literally invisible since all of their ops r executed by other intelligence orgs / elements of them.

CIA/NSA , FSB/SVR , MI5 , MI6 , CSIS , PET, DGSE , AISE , NIS etc r feeder to this Opus Dei

even the dreaded VKR soviet counterintelligence had ties with it. ******* vouch for it since *********** documents relating to this.
the main aim of Opus Dei was to keep alive Russian orthodox church during communist rule and for that they enlisted elements of both VKR and Norwegian NIS (Norway shared border with USSR).

from what i know vatican (Opus Dei) helped LTTE in the hopes of establishing a independent "catholic" land in the northern parts of Sri Lanka.

i have info that Opus Dei targeted 3 countries among many other countries which i am not aware of

1.India partially successful till date, cant predict what happens in future grin
2.South Korea successful
3.Sri Lanka partially successful
