this your post speaks jealousy and fear of been pursued from lagos. u said one of the things lagos enjoys is population that's quite funny. one of the major problems lagos faces is overpopulation. it would be to the advantage of lagos is the seaports in other states are fuctioning because the presure on lagos roads would reduce and it would never reduce the inportation of goods from lagos. infact if lagos is less populated this would really help there are alot of people that come into lagos daily just to do illegal things and this would stop.

Lmao. I've read through the thread and hardly will you see ibo talk about their province but they are quite concerned about the SW. Na so they love us reach? Lol.

The op only wishes.
Here's what wll happen:
The southwest will probably be the least unsuccessful since at least they don't fight much and they have lagos.

Biafra will be a gangster territory where it will be "shoot me, I shoot you". Nnamdi kanu will quickly be overthrown, robbery and kidnapping will reign.

The south south people haven lost the "nigerian protection" will be exploited more by international conspirators in order to loot their oil and this will lead to a "blood diamond" type of country. Oil doesn't mean they will be rich. Equitorial guinea has loads of oil and a very tiny population numbering in their thousands but yet the citizens are still poor.

The north will be invaded by all those madrasas, terrorist and you will have an afghanistan type of country. Boko haram will be given hope by the restructuring idea that they too can one day have their own breakaway caliphate. Do you think the saudis will love the north just because they are muslims? Do you think they care about black africans?

The middle belt will just be poor.

Beware of posters like this, it was posters like this that created false write ups that encouraged people to vote for change.
And now the change has come. I used to buy a kilo of chicken for 500 naira in jonathans time, now it 1000 naira, is that not change?
You want to breakaway because you believe the economic situation is bad right?
Don't worry, you will go from frying pan to fire, people will be buying cars with chickens instead of money after you do your so called restructuring. That's how inflated your economies will be.
Lol!

I won't be surprised if the mantra for 2019 is restructure.. Na so we go dey hear... Apdp... Restructure! Lol..

Most of these politicians, if not all are thieves.. However, if they are really serious on restructuring, then I think it's a great step to make Nigeria a better entity..

what most of us dont know is, if Nigeria is restructured properly, Lagos would go down. Lagos would be more affected reason i believe is as follows.

Lagos is the only Major seaport currently being used in Nigeria. If the country is restructured, other states that has sea would make there sea useful eg Warri, PH, Calabar even Anambra would dredge river river and whether you like it or not little ships would operate there. With this, revenue generated for Lagos via seaport would be reduced.

International Airport: With restructuring most states would have international airport. If you remember during uncle Jona regime, one regions was opposing the upgrading of Enugu airport to international airport. Now people from the east dont need to come to Lagos anymore, they can now fly out of Nigeria from Enugu, so because of this, revenue for local flight and international flight operating was reduced and it would lead to reduced tax paid to Lagos.

Courier: I dont think DHL, UPS Fedex etc operate in Ekiti. Even if they operate, they would be very very small. But if ekiti has for example has international Airport, UPS would not need to land goods meant for Ekiti in Lagos first before it would then be transported to Ekiti. So if goods are transported to Ekiti directly via flight, it means people would need to build more houses to house this workers, by building more houses development would grow in the state.

Transportation: One thing Lagos enjoys is Population. Lagos generates alot of revenue from transport. remember that the more other states develop, people would be moving out of Lagos. for example, If i work in Lagos and am paid 100k, now i need to wake up 5.am daily to get to work on time, i have a rent of 300k to pay yearly, school fee per child 45k average. but if i get joy vacancy in Ekiti and i would earn 80k and am a native of ekiti i would go there because am sure of free house and also am sure of building my own house because land would be cheap or even free.

One of the benefit of proper restructuring is, it would encourage almost everybody to go back home and make ends meet because there would be development everywhere in the country. know region and state would want to be left behind. i would stop for now because am tired. Anybody can also add positive argument.
For an economy the size of Nigeria and where we'll be(in population terms) by 2050 according to reliable projections, 1 or 2 ports shows unseriousness on our part. The US and the UK has more than 20 busy seaports each. Lagos status as a commercial capital will hardly change though.

If such restructuring is done in Nigeria it may nt favour the West that much because why the population of Lagos is this much is because of the functional Port there. If this happens the Calabar, warri, and rivers port will pick up and migration to Lagos will reduce drastically, intact some people will move back to their regions.Lagos is economically viable because of its large population.
If this happens the source of revenue generation of Lagos will reduce too.
My thoughts though.
Whatever has advantages has disadvantages.
Yeah, you're right. People are attracted to where opportunities are, and Lagos will still remain viable. The advantages still far outweighs the disadvantages, so let's do this. Overpopulation is a big headache for Lagos as it is and with a population of about 350m by 2050, it's not really gonna go away.

You are more than a dreamer if you remotely think that above listed craps are the main stay of restructure. Every bit of Lagos and Abuja must be located in defunct eastern region and midwestern region including every federal government presence in defunct western and northern regions. Every military academy situated in the northern region of Nigeria must be equally situated in the southern provinces.
i tend to agree a bit with your point.

There seems to be a problem with this system.
Centralization of power will be a stumbling block here. Someone out of one of the 6 regions will be the president, rebellion is bound to occur if there is perception of cheating/bigotry by the other region

Thank you, nothing wrong with the system the people are call corrupt minded and wishing for an utopia which they don't deserve as homeboy said there is a reason why we shifted to Federalism copying the Americans,America fought their own civil war when the south wanted to secede,Abraham Lincoln and the Republocan party won the election and subsequently won the war,USA is still one till today even though California will be the 6th richest country if it were an independent state,Nigeria's Federalism is one of the best because it is copy and paste, the people who are to pilot the plane are just bad people since 1960 till date, people like Buhari that want to change they chase them away in 1985 by babaginda mr maradonna and today the evil minded citizens wishing him dead but nothing is new under the sun, even Moses was despised by the people that had been in slavery for 400 years, the same people that spoilt Nigeria are the ones shouting restructuring, not more than 8 states in the Federation send money to the Federation Account, people in states that depend on federal allocation are shouting restructuring and no one has stopped them from tapping into their resources,no one has stopped the Niger Delta states individually or collectively from building a refinery(s)or petrol chemical industries,if they built any industries when the governors are leaving power they will sell it to themselves like midwestern oil, then they will say it is the Hausa people that is the problem, maybe it is Aminu Kano that stole the money in Delta State or it is Waziri Ibrahim that stole the money in Bayelsa and Rivers State? the truth is that you can't give what you don't have, just a misguided race of the most populated black nation in the world. No matter the system, region(zoo) an animal will still be an animal. There is nothing to restructure people like the governors, senators and local government chairmen that have not rendered account to the people,we want to go and give more powers to them, the number one problem with Nigeria today is hate for Buhari,we do not want change corruption will fight back like it did in 1984.
Our present 'federalism' is a very warped one sir and very different from USA's. It was instituted by the millitary to suit the millitaristic approach of a few robots micro-managing from the centre, to weaken the ethnic nationalities and control them as they see fit. American states, as the federating units there, control their own destinies, utilize their resources, have their own police force, and pay 'tax' to the Fed. Reverse is the case here; if you have gold in Ilesha or Gombe, you can't mine it at will for your own good but wait for FG, so some the FG take the oil for example, sell it and give you 'allocation' each month. It has not worked, it is not working, there's no indication that it will work tomorrow.

I asked a question which obviously threw u into confusion.

So u think Nigeria will have one seaport wen we restructure n operate as regioan, lmfao ooo. Lagos revenue will fall massively because middle belt, SE, will have ports n Delta, Rivers, calabar, edo n akwaibom will have their own ports as well.

oil companies will have no option than to take their offices n HQ to niger Delta.

Lagos is only successful because of the unitary system of government, nothing more.

The real cool petition will start by then.

If igbos leave the SW, it will fucking fall so always remember that we are not afraid of being chased out of SW(though impossible)
I do not disagree with your point about a drop in revenue in the short term, and of some companies moving back to PH. But the drop won't be 'massively'. Most have admnistrative HQs in Lagos and not production factories. When you're in a commercial capital like Lagos(like New York, like Tokyo), you get access to other support networks, like the audit and accounting firms, legal services, consulting, talents, etc. The goal here is to see us doing well as a whole though, none of us is greater than all of us.
Re: 10 Positive Things That Would Quickly Happen If Nigeria Restructures... by Amberon11: 3:02am On Jul 13, 2017
So all the looting and carting away of our resources by y'all isn't enough already? You want to completely suck us dry this time right? In other news ,you want to totally milk the ND of more of its resources in other to be used in developing the other regions before they can be self sufficient. And you people still have the nerve to utter all sorts of derogatory words against ND right?
freshest4live:

Restructuring would reduce the appetite for political positions because they would have to think of ways to develop their regions with the resources they have. It would make these political positions less attractive, and help us diversify faster. However before we go into restructuring, Abuja(Federal Government) should not be totally fuelled by oil money, and we must reduce our dependence on it to an extent or at least make the Niger Delta contribute a larger percentage to the federal Government for the first few years until we diversify properly.
Oil would soon be less relevant anyway.

Exactly!
beamtopola:

The bolded is where i m confused. If you talk about the ss province, I no they have the capital to run their province and they even have gas for 24/7 power generation. Where will the sw generate this money to Carter all these? Cos I no ,if Nigeria is restructured, so many of those company in the west will relocate to ss cos this region has the money because of the the oil, and revenue in Lagos will reduce due to more seaport that will b build from the south. How will sw generate 24/7 power when they don't have gas.?
Re: 10 Positive Things That Would Quickly Happen If Nigeria Restructures... by Amberon11: 3:12am On Jul 13, 2017
Facts!!!
beamtopola:

If sw can buy gas from ss, why do you think they can generate power than ss that will sell them the gas? Remember ss is also surrounded by water apart from edo.
Re: 10 Positive Things That Would Quickly Happen If Nigeria Restructures... by Amberon11: 3:24am On Jul 13, 2017
So this land grabbing has not stopped? Are Efiks and ibibios Igbo's? Why must they be in the eastern region with you? Do you own them?
Noccerino:
In the event of restructuring, I expect our South East leaders to refuse the current map of the south east, its glaring we were cheated during the creation of regions, the whole regions is not even up to single states in other regions, our leaders must insist on adding Anioma, and cross river to the eastern region, anything aside this won't favour us.

PrecisionFx:

So u really think in a restructure that igbos will allow demselves to be added to SS u must be a joker. The SE is inseparable with SS because the most populated tribe in SS is still the igbos.

U can't dig a well or borehole in enugu without striking coal 70% of the times. Coal in enugu is pure n also proven, ur taraba story could go either way.

LOL about ur oil production projections. Abia, IMO n anambara are already oil producers(though the FG intentionally avoid much mining in these states based on the usual "pull igbos down". in a confederation, the igbo states will fully go into crude oil production and massively take it to it's peak. Anambara also has the highest gas deposits in Nigeria, untapped....... by proximity with oil communities in Anambra, Enugu has oil as well......... SE oil is untouched, unlike SS whose oil have been bastardizes for over 50 years.

Don't share regions with ur head, we are not going to have 6 regions, there's no discussion on that.

I'm from the Niger Delta myself. It was just a suggestion since oil is our major source of revenue and we haven't diversified properly. A larger percentage could mean slightly larger than the rest and hardly equates to milking ND dry, l also said for the first few years. Twas just a suggestion.

Be enlightened, mister. There's something called Exclusive list in Nigeria.

Exclusive list details areas that state governors must not dabble in. Natural resources like crude oil, natural gas and coal fall under the Exclusive list, meaning that no state government is allowed by Nigerian laws to touch it even if it's in the backyard of their state govt houses. Learn!
