To your question; if the calculated risk of ur going to Canada to get a degree outweighs ur current income of 400-500k; what I mean is, if you have a solid long term plan that includes ur studying and getting degree in Canada and what u plan to do afterwards.. and if that plan outweighs ur current salary, then go for it! but if after getting the degree, u don't have any plan on what to do afterwards, then think again and again and again till u have a plan that outweighs ur current salary..

matter of fact, not just a plan that outweighs ur current salary.. but a plan that also outweighs the salary u would get from now till the end of ur degree with the prospects of a possible increase.. simply put::: if degree in pharmacy in Canada + goal afterwards > current 400k-500k + prospects of possible increase, go for it..

Thanks a lot...The issue is that I just wanna leave this country for good...And since am already in the pharma industry I want to simply get a Pharm.D and work as a pharmacist in Canada... You will get a good job soon...

Its not just about leaving the country u know? this is a decision that would directly or indirectly have a say in ur future. Its not just about leaving the country. Its also about what to do after leaving the country.. after getting the degree which is a good thing; what next? get a job. have u looked at the complexity in getting a job over there? if it pays as much as u currently earn here? Think of all these things.. and if u think its worth it, give it a shot! Or u could start up a business over here like u said.. Just think about it.. and then pray.. and seek advice from elderly people! people with grey hair..lol I'm Just 24 years old. those elderly people got wisdom! well, some of them. OP first of all, 400k per month for now is just there and not lucrative considering the purchasing power of the Nigerian Naira.

I am sure you have your 10m ready for the Canada trip, this is what you should do, continue your work in-country for some more time and triple that amount, you have nothing to loose as you would have gotten more experience and more money.

When you triple that amount, you don't need to come to Nairaland, on your own like this, you go just dey get divine inspiration on what to do :- .

You are presently confused now because you do not have more than enough money, maybe all you have now is just enough for the trip hence your fears.

if you have at least 3 years experience, I will advise that you go for an MBA instead of a masters in pharmacy. With a degree in pharmacy and 3 years work experience in the field, you are a good candidate for an MBA. Do not go for another degree in pharmacy if your ultimate aim is to do an MBA later.

Bros, the choice is yours to make as people relocate for different reasons. If you were to ask me though, I'd ask you to stay back and build your career. 400k - 500k in Nigeria is not beans and at your age, you have enormous prospect. Foreign degrees no longer enjoy the edge they used to enjoy over Nigerian degrees now, there are thousands with foreign degrees in Nigeria not able to secure a job.

If your intent is career growth, stay in Nigeria and build. When you qualify for study leave, you can take a study leave from your company and go get a foreign degree if you so crave for it and use that time to study the environment if it'd favour you. That way, you can go back to your job if you find out Nigeria is better for you after weighing options but if your intent is to relocate to a more stable country where you can give your family a more decent life and secured future irrespective of the opportunity cost to you, you can relocate. I've seen senior bankers resign and relocate their families to UK, doing menial jobs just because they want their children to have a better future.

Pharmaceuticals industry pay that much at that level ? I wonder how much seniors with 7 years experience will earn in that your company.

Why you considering traveling abroad sef when you can continue to gather experiences and building your career while increasing your bucks.

You wont be able to earn good money and work in your desired field in canada untill you complete your studies and have a PR.

Keep your job and save your money. Go through the Canada PR route, pharmacist have good chances of getting skilled visa.

I find it hard to believe your industry pay that much at your level.

It's a great Idea and you do have a good plan which is the important thing. But make sure it's a top school in pharmacy.
