I could remember a piece of advice a woman in Diaspora told me. If you are earning more than 300K in Nigeria, you better sit your a*s down and don't bother yourself of travelling for greener pasture. Instead of you to find a way of investing the money in different businesses. You want to run away. If you want more degrees do Distance Learning courses or go for MBA at Lagos Business just like someone said before.

Hi nairalanders please I am currently about taking a decision regarding my future. I am a 26 years old single guy. I currently work in a company where I earn between 400-500k monthly( salary, allowance and personal hustling)... Now the issue is that I am contemplating on travelling to Canada to study pharmacy with the intention of staying there permanently after school or do a professional MBA here in Nigeria with the aim of growing through the ranks in the pharmaceutical industry. Please I need your contributions...

NB; cost of obtaining a pharmacy degree in Canada is about 10M...Should I invest the money in a business?

500k is an incredible salary.think twice b4 u leave..besides, who degree EPP.I hope ur village pple are not after you.

That is a lie. I schooled with many people who now have useless MBAs. Most MBA graduates do not come from Ivy league schools, but I will agree that those who do are likely more employable. What you are forgetting is that many of those attending the Ivy league schools are already well connected to the wealthy or make those connections through school, thereby creating a pipeline to well paying companies. Let the op not be deceived. I've seen some Nigerians who came for MBAs and Masters of Public Health, only to end up in nursing school later. The MBA path is a dead end for him (at least in the US).
What exactly is a lie? Please let me know so that I can address that point.

To your question; if the calculated risk of ur going to Canada to get a degree outweighs ur current income of 400-500k; what I mean is, if you have a solid long term plan that includes ur studying and getting degree in Canada and what u plan to do afterwards.. and if that plan outweighs ur current salary, then go for it! but if after getting the degree, u don't have any plan on what to do afterwards, then think again and again and again till u have a plan that outweighs ur current salary..
bro with this kind of wisdom you exhibited in this post why cant you create a job for yourself ? abi ya wisdom only finish for keyboard ? why are you begging and groveling for a job ?
Re: Quitting My Lucrative Job For A Degree In Canada by OzyMigrant: 9:57am On Jul 20, 2017
It's a good idea to leave this visionless country for now and come back at a later time when you would have made name for yourself and family. Imagine loosing that job(God forbid) and having to wait for God knows how long to get another one.

But...........why not follow the skilled migrant route and obtain a permanent residency since you seem to have the fund - you can then start your study at a lower cost (compared to the international tuition fee) after settling in as a local student.

Do that and thank me later!

Bruuh go school study hard get employee does not work again.
The money 10million you want to waste in education better invest in in real estate and reinvest reinvest while still working here in Nigeria. Beside is there no online pharmacy degree you can do from here.
Bruu use Your head

Let him keep hearing the high pay in the America's. He will learn what's attached to it when his in the system.

May be he meant 50k and not 500k cos someone that earns 500k should be able to do thorough research and weigh options.

Hello I am sure you have heard of study leave...its better you apply for a study leave with your company rather than quitting,so by the time you are through with your programme if you chose to come back to Nigeria..you still have your job, On the second thought you can chose to stay there as well..maybe be a welder,or other jobs you can get to make you cool money. But if you resign ...my guy if God is not on your side you might not get another better paying job as that one when you finish you programme.

Let me just clear the air GUY you are just making this story up so the gullible females would fall for you....which job you dey do? at 26 yrs you earn 400k - 500k...oya begin confess. grin grin grin grin grin grin

God tears just dropped my cheek I never knew someone else in the same region and age mate has the same dream as me too.

Everything is all about dreams and having helpers it has been my dreams I even have to send my documents to the school for assesment they required topics taught on each of those courses for my eligibility from my school since then i stopped but will continue with what i saw you post.

Am a graduate of Pharmacology &therapeutics working as a pharmacist assistant am not comfortable with my job am all about increase also in that field Pharm D mainly

As for helpers my greatest fear has been sponsor who will sponsor me with tuition of $17,000 tuition but I conquer it now following up to this goals.

Believe me this is the best decision you can make being this age hence your 30yrs this dreams might be difficult to come true not just the Dr of pharm also many job opportunities for you in canada,Australia,Usa and many developed industries/countries working on improvement of healthcare with researches.

Bro
if you got the money go for it"
If you got helpers go for it"
If you got the dreams not just the money go for it"
You inspired someone this morning next week am going back to my uni to ask that they requested.

Note:500k is nothing compared to the recent exchange rate when you change the $$ currency to naira even a fruit picker in canada within a month can earn more than the 500k people see as big money here.

Thanks a lot...The issue is that I just wanna leave this country for good...And since am already in the pharma industry I want to simply get a Pharm.D and work as a pharmacist in Canada... You will get a good job soon...
nigga you are a pharmacist in naija and you are trying to go abroad ? do you know pharmacists with their own pharmacy make as much as 5 million naira a month ? expand your mind bro. people who want to run abroad dont have what you have which is a solid degree that can bring independence. people who run abroad are the ones who studied yeye courses like law lol. you better recallibrate your effort and start making 5 million naira a month here and then you can buy a vacation house in canada and go and be visiting every 3 months. this way you have the best of both worlds. abroad is for young people. once you are past a certain age you get homesick because life abroad is boring. and at 26 you are wayyy past that age

This is a typical problem encountered by every successful youth.

You are tired of the RAT RACE. And you don't know where to go from there.

You are not yet seeing MARRIAGE as an option. Because you want to make alot of money and be very comfortable before doing that at 30.

Well i wont advice you to go dash oyinbo N10m abroad. Nigeria is in a recession and companies are folding. Also note that doing profitable business in Nigeria in 2017 is far more difficult than it was 10 years ago. What you need now is a MENTOR. And a very sincere one.

Calm your head down and imagine that you have agemates that are still searching for N50,000 jobs.

So appreciate what you have. No assuarance that you will get a canadian job after schooling there. So you don't end up being a lecturer in Nigerian university. READ WIDE to choose the next step of your life.

Because DILENMA is the first step to losing money.
Chai.... Bros you are too much. Truth can also be found on nairaland.
Some of us are still looking for that 50k job

What exactly is a lie? Please let me know so that I can address that point.

The lie is that you need 3 years of work experience before schooling for an MBA. Should 3 years of work experience at McDonalds qualify for admission into an MBA program? I know what I'm speaking of because I was accepted into one, then later turned it down because I realized none of my associates were able to obtain jobs with their degree. The requirements for Ivy league schools may be different, but be assured those jobs are given primarily through connections or to those who went back to school after obtaining the job.

Most peopelle here are foolish. So having money automatically means your quality of life is better.
Living in Canada your quality of life is better. Here in this shithole the more money you have means more wahala.
More looking over your shoulder
Increase in the rick of you getting robbed/kidnapped( most likely by the security operatives.
Anywhere you go peope tax you
Plus you spend huge amounts of money to get your basic needs what you will normally get almost free in foreign countries.

I can't speak on Canada but MBA degrees are almost worthless in the US without strong experience and the right connections. A pharmacy degree almost ensures a job.
It depends on the school where you get the MBA from. An MBA is totally worthless if it's not from a top 10 business school.
