Did you tell the Visa Officer that you were pregnant and plan on having your babies in the U.S.?

You do know that every statement you tell the VO during the interview will appear on your passport and once the CBP officers scans your passport at the POE every statement you have told the VO officers appears on the CBP officers screen at the POE.

I had my First Visa in 2014 and I was asked then if i was pregnant and i said no... I used my visa for the purpose i got it for and I renewed it last year.

When you have used your visa for the intended, whatever happens after doesn't matter.

congrats sir, just what I'm waiting for, I want to believe you applied for tourist visa and your wife applied for medical, what documents did you present? what about your statement of account? hospital correspondence? and DW is about how many weeks presently?
Our Visas are both Tourist visas because we had our first in 2014 and renewed it last year.

oh, thanks... don't know if we should apply now or wait a little longer, DW is just 12weeks, I intend for her to go by January cuz EDD is March ending. I think we will both apply even though I don't intend to go until she delivers. also, do you know of any affordable hospital in Baltimore, where we can get everything below 8k. thanks and congrats in advance

Dear All, Good day. I have been a silent guest on this forum for a very long while and it has helped me tremendously. I really want to give back a little from my experience so far.
I am currently in the US to have my baby and I would like to share my POE situation at the Houston POE which I arrived last week.
First and foremost I want to inform us all that the immigration officers are on this page and read it all the time. They specifically mentioned this page to me and asked me to inform the house that they are with us. Not to scare anyone as I presume they may even be amongst us giving some input and guidance to us. He laughed at the change I intent letter we talk about here. I had it handy based on what I read here but i didn't even need to show it to him especially since he had laughed about how silly he thinks it is. My saving grace was that I had applied for the visa for vacation when I wasn't pregnant and I mentioned when asked that I will use it for child birth in future if I get pregnant. He saw that in my record. pls note that i was specifically asked this question and sincerely i thank God i was otherwise i may not have volunteered the information myself. However the Immigration officer at the POE says some of us will say we were not asked and it doesn't really matter we should have declared from the onset.
Secondly please always say the truth. No matter the cost. When you lie it apears like you are unscrupulous and can't be trusted.
Thirdly, let's not be scared of saying we want to give birth in the US. Both the consular officer and the immigration guy told me it's very legal to give birth in the US of you can pick the bills. All that is required is that you demonstrate that you know the bills and can comfortably pick them.
Finally please always always pick your bills and have your itemised receipts and zero balance handy. it's really unfair for us to use the Medicaid or other health insurance in the US. The citizens are taxed heavily for these services and getting it is like stealing literally. pls let's not do that . Sometimes we can be cohersed and tempted to do that even by some hospitals and doctors but don't fall into that trap. And as the nice guy I may at the POE adviced pls don't sign anything while in Labour. you may not be cordinated enough to read through properly. God bless.

I'm also interested in NJ hospital. My brother actuallt lives in Longisland Newyoyrk, but NJ Hospital close to his place will do me real good. Tnx

Newark hospitals aren't too far from New York and they're cheaper, however in case of a labour that progresses fast, you need to be able to get to the hospital quickly. I used St Peters and it's not close to NY at all.

Good morning all

In the spirit of giving back grin

After a rescheduled Tuesday interview, DW and I went for our Visa interview on today Saturday

Early morning favour. Atleast our VO was smiling and apologizing for the rescheduling.

VO: good morning

DW & I: Good morning

VO: And how are you today

DW & I: fine and you

VO: What brings you to the consulate/ why do you want to do in the US

ME: for child birth & vacation

VO: What is your budget for the travel

ME: bleep dollars

VO: That is an expensive child birth

DW & I : Smiles, yes it is

Vo: How do you intend to pay for this

ME: i have been working for bleep years with bleep company as bleep. i have been able to save up over the years

VO: So based on the job i do, he asked what is the recent incident you have had to resolve

DH&I: i sha gave one answer like that of the what came to mind

VO: Asked DW, what do you do

DW: i work with so so and so

VO: what is the recent project you have had to handle

DW: so so so project

VO: Have you traveled before

DW & I: Together to the UAE, and listed others i have been to

VO: We are good, when your child becomes a citizen, collect the birth certificate and visit a site (don't remember cos i was looking at the white paper in his hand) to renew passport. Take care of your wife and baby.

VO: pick up ur visa in 3 business days at the address on the paper

DW & I: Thank youu (smiling and laughing inside)

All these questions, the VO typed all the answers while looking straight into our eyes.

No document was looked at.

Oya o where can we get cheap ticket cheesy

Congrats, I was there this morning as well for the rescheduled interview with DW and we were given too, VO scrutinized all the documents thoroughly though, to the extent that he was matching the outflow out of my Naira account to the inflow into my USD account and asking who is this person depositing cash into your account, had to explain to him that i buy dollars in the black market and the mallam deposits the cash in my account. Guess the lesson is to have all relevant documents complete and be honest, never can say how the interview will go

But how did they allow you pass, I mean Yankee immigration. Meanwhile I kept calling their customer care number, and they were updating me. They sent to everyone on Thursday, we received ours too. Saved about 220 bucks on visa. VOA is more convenient and simplified abeg.
Pls what documents did you attach for visa on arrival. Was it your own travel itinerary or you will have to buy ticket for baby and attached it there.

OK

Documents we went with - account Statement (Naira and USD), correspondence with doctor and all that, budget, letter of introduction from work, Court affidavit (my name is Oluwaxxx, some documents have oluxxx and others have oluwaxxx; the court affidavit shows that they are one and the same person)

VO - Good morning

Us - Good morning

VO - Why do you want to go to the US

DW - To have my baby

VO - types...which state?

me - Texas

VO - What do you do?

me - I work with xxxx, its a blast bla bla bla and i do bla bla bla in addition to bla bla bla, i have a letter of introduction from my office confirming i work there and stating my annual salary

VO - Collects letter, reads throughly...types then asks; do you have any correspondence with the doctor?

me - I hand over correspondence, budget, hospital bill breakdown etc.

VO - collects everything and start reading 1 by 1 like its a novel

me - notices that VO is now looking a budget, I cut in and say 'i have my statements of account here also to fund all the expenses; i have $xxxx and Nxxx.

VO - nods, collects statements and start going through...says 'i see you do lots of own account transfers'

me - Yes, i don't run my salary account actively, so i have to first move from that account to this

VO - Why is the name here different

me - my name is commonly misspelt, i have an affidavit here that confirms that they are the same person

VO - collects affidavit, reads through, goes back to statements and asks; who is this person that deposited $xxxx into your account on bla bla bla

me - i buy the dollars and then the person deposits it into my account while i transfer the Naira, if you check my naira statement, you will see a corresponding outflow on the same day equivalent in Naira

VO - picks a particular inflow and asks me to show the corresponding outflow in my naira, coincidentally, i made the cash deposit myself from some USD i had at home so i didn't have an outflow in the Naira account. I explain this to him and he nods and continues to type. while he was typing, i picked out other transactions that had corresponding inflows and outflows and show it to him, he looks at them and nods..continues to type then says 'Your visa has been approved bla bla bla...'

the interview probably lasted 10mins, which was long by the usual standard...so there it is

Bottomline, its good to be prepared. Some people just want someone to do everything for them. How will they face the interview. Some say they cant burn data to go through old posts here, yet they want to go and spend dollars in America.

Thanks for sharing though

Cs bill would definitely be higher than vd. You can use vd bill for your budget sheet, but bear in mind that you are suppose to have more funds in your account than your budget,in case of (God forbid) emergencies.

I wanted to find out your experience using Dr Fares Diabarkeli and saints Francis hospital. They seem to be the cheapest option in New Jersey and I wanted to make sure I get feedback before I make up my mind.

Appreciate your response.

Good Evening All,
First post Alert: I want some clarifications about giving birth in the US
I have read many threads on this but havent really seen one where this was dealt with
I have a B1/B2 visa for vacation with my family which I got a month before I got pregnant.
I intend to send an email dro change of intent and go and give birth next year after which my hubby will join me for a month. My question is, hope I wouldnt be denied visa when I want to renew if I take this route or must I travel with my daughter first and later go to give birth(cost is a constraint) but I really want to be well advised so I wouldnt be denied visa next time

Then is it compulsory that my child must travel? She's just 2 plus. If I take the first option (which is cheaper) if I want to do drop box, hope it wouldnt be an issue if she doesnt travel?

If there's (are) anyone who sent change of intent and werent denied subsequent visas at renewal, kindly enlighten me on how you did it, thank you
