Op, in this case you don't have to outcast the view emanating from religion and tradition. Marriage is a union instituted either by tradition or religion guidelines therefore we must view your query from the two points and other(s) if any. Man is ordained to be the head of family, the wealth of a woman can never turn her to man, remember marriage is not all about the financial aspect of it, it has more like respect and control which is an embodiment to man. 2 Likes |

To start with, husband/wife/maeiage/home matters can't be complete without going religious. Simply put, that your hair full and rough doesn't mean you can wear the cap on the knee. All u have to do is have a nice hair-cut to wear the cap or manage the cap on ur hairy-bushy hair tintingz: |

I think you set off on the wrong foot if you think head of household depends on financial income. If you are earning N100K/month and your wife N90K.... does that make you head of household? If yes... what happens if the wife is promoted and her salary is raised to N105k?...does she then "call the shots"? The man is supposed to be the head of household regardless..... and that in my opinion has to do with a lot more than income...regardless who earns more...he is supposed to be the one to lead his family through this life.... ensure that they have food, clothing and shelter.... protected from human predators....and be a role model to his children. Wife earning more money.... becomes head of household... bandits about to break in.... should she hide the husband and kids inside her wrapper and fight them off?...as head of household? |

The truth is on paper the man is supposed to be the Head. but when he is financially handicapped leaving his responsibilities to his wife Reality takes away that head and confines it to the woman. So on paper (Theory) = yes Reality (practical) = No |

Originalsly:The question doesn't say if the man earns less, he asked if the man is not earning stall and the woman is the one bringing all the money, can she be called the breadwinner. you are confusing yourself. No matter how small a man earns, he will always be the head of the house. Who says ones wife cannot be richer after marriage? The crux of the matter lies if he doesn't earn " shi-shi" 1 Like |

Even the atheist turns to religion when the issue of man and wife is mentioned. I like the Ops question- talk and comment from a logical view and not because the bible told you or they (the society and your parents) told you. My own question: is there suppose to be anything like "head" or "tail" logically?. What is the duty of a man and woman?. What did the always quoted bible say about a man who can't provide for his family? 2 Likes |

anybody could be the breadwinner of the house/Family it was never a title for the male folks alone.. the definition of "breadwinner" is that simple "a member of a family whose wages supply its livelihood" so to the OP anybody that caters for the livelihood of a family at any point in time is a BREADWINNER. 1 Like |

Flame4chi: Are you a christain? If yes, what did the bible say about a man who can't provide for his family. Most men only remember the bible when they want to talk about " wives submit to your husband". I know you will accept the bible once it will favour you. |

when you come from a Christian home, a man will always be the head when you work with "tradition", a man will always be the head when you guys are neutral, no one is head shikena, it all depends on you guys 2 Likes |

God has made a woman to be under a man and no religious group has so far been against this. So even if the man is a drunkard, lunatic and not working, that respect should be accorded to him. A woman needs her husband's nod before taking certain decisions no matter how rich she is. If she ain't married, that's a different case. |

LOL. A man is the head of the home. Get a good head and stop dragging power and authority with your husband. ...but if the couple involved, decides to make the woman the head, good for them. 2 Likes |

Sounds more like a woman claiming to be a man on a faceless forum or a man indoctrinated from a young age perhaps due to reality in his home and milieu while growing up. |

Gustavo404:Why? Are you shocked?. Men should marry women who're resourceful so that if anything happens with their finances in the future they would have someone who they'd look up to handle the bills while they're incapacitated. That doesn't make the woman the head 'cause God already placed the man as the head of the home which can't change irrespective of a man's condition. I'm not in the school of thought that if a woman pays bills then she's the head. She has to submit to her husband being the head without loosing her identity. 1 Like |

lilmax: I agree, it depends on the people involved, the problem comes when people refuse to leave it up to the people involved to choose what works best for them and starts forcing them to choose the man as the head of the home simply because of religion or tradition which is not what the couple want. As far as I'm concerned, the neutral home where the man and woman work together and no one is ruled is best, everyone is equal, Everyone should do what works for them and also find a partner who agrees with their views and stop trying to impose their views on others. So therefore if a woman doesn't believe that a man should be the head of the home, if a woman doesn't believe that there should even be a head of the home, it should be respected instead of people trying to change her views becuasw of religion or whatever, Cc tintingz 1 Like |

[quote author=Prognose post=61287435] It appears you're not actually seeking an opinion here but rather trying to defend your own. How can buhari not do his responsibility and still be responsible in character? If buhari was not responsible in character but stole billions of dollars to carry out his responsibility as president would you vote him in next election? [why not mama peace be the leader of the house if Jonathan fail to take care of his responsibilities in his house as he failed 2017 election ] |
