You guys are just too quick to anger and abuse at the slightest opportunity. Why on earth would you start abusing the dude in such circumstance that you have captured ? Please learn to be patient when you disagree with others....

When I was on 2go I met a guy on 2go international bearing Chibuike, but his location was Equatorial Guinea, by then I thought Equatorial Guinea was very far country/not even in African,
I asked the boy where he from and he said "IMO State", I asked where in IMO state and he said he didn't know,
I told him where I'm from in IMO state and asked again thinking he didn't want to tell me but my guy man no know, I became agree and started insulting him, he was 21yr old, I said how can person who is 21yr old not know his local government area talk less of community. He didn't tell me any thing about Igbo people their, he only told me he was born there so deleted him from my friend list.

Later when I was making use of world fact book.2011
I discovered that Igbo ethnic group in in Equatorial Guinea.

This thread is so skeletal, the information therein is so shallow.
Igbos have always been known for their concentrated population across sub Saharan Africa.
Igbo shares no historical relevance in Equatorial Guinea.

Same here. I first learned about them back in the late 90s during a Christmas visit to my maternal hometown. My uncle (mother's brother), had a factbook in his room which I was going through and saw 'Ibo' listed as a language in EG. I couldn't believe my eyes. This my uncle also used to lovingly speak of a far-off place called 'panya' which he visited or would visit and even told us then that he would take us to panya. I'm guessing bioko is the very panya he was referring to. Tekno also sang about going to 'panya' in one of his recent songs.
All the while I have been hearing about "panya" from way back in my primary sch days..I never envisaged any relationship between that and my ethnicity but I had this strong feelings that "panya" must be somehow a part of Igbo history..Then recently I travelled home for grannies funeral and in the brochure they said something about them migrating to EG and then panya, that caught my attention..anyways nice one OP, I will make more enquiries..

Actually they have been there long before the Civil War.

They started arriving there in the 1920s, if not earlier, to work as labourers on the Spanish Cocoa Plantations.

Why are you people so quick to insult others? Its really terrible.
VERY TERRIBLE. What happened to taking your time to ask questions? If he wanted to deny his roots, he wouldn't have claimed to be from Imo State.

Throwing insults around has always been your greatest undoing as a tribe. Go figure.

According to wiki

334,463*0.07 = 23,412 Igbos in Bioko Island, circa (2015)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioko

Joshua project on its part says there are 36,000 Igbos in all Equatorial Guinea (Bioko plus the Mainland) in 2017, ranking fourth after Fang (545,000), Bubi/Fernandian (63,000), and Yoruba (72,000)

As regards the language, Igbo is a recognized official language in Equatorial Guinea and it has been confirmed that the people still speak the Igbo language which has some form of deviation from the modern Igbo spoken in Nigeria. Some people who have seen them say they say, 'bia ikaa' for 'come here'. Anybody who has been in contact with these people as regards the language?

Finally I think that Igbos of Nigeria do need to reach out to our people in Bioko to re-strengthen our ties and the language.

Yes. Bia Ikaa sounds so much like bia ukaa in Nnewi dialect. They both have the same meaning. I have also seen a picture of the Gabonese president as a child in the midst of other refugee biafran children flown into Gabon during the civil war. His igbo origin was also part of the political topic debated by the oposition during their last election. Sao tome and cote devoire also have a population of biafran children who can no longer trace their families in Nigeria.

acussing the writer of been indigene of oshogbo seems be neutral to you, isn't it? Your response is joke sister, if you think your initial post was truly neutral

As a matter of fact, English is a universal language and it is not uncommon to find people from non-english speaking countries speaking and writing in English perfectly

Furthermore, have you truly done a quick research on the points he raised to dis credit them as propaganda

Wow! This is intriguing. All my life I have never heard anything of such. It feels so good and relaxing reading this. Let's share this on all social/cultural platforms especially that consisting Igbos, I believe many more Igbos are like me, no idea of such. And you never can tell who will be interested. We can actually extend more hands of brotherhood and friendship to these our umunne.

I smell FRAUD! And an alternative moniker.
How can you be living in Ogbomosho your hometown and be claiming to be from equaitorial guinea?
Fear God o.

Well permit me to differ in this line of thought, let's say he is indeed what he claimed to be, and has been reading posts on Nairaland as a guest (of course many people does) now suddenly this afternoon out of nowhere such topic graces the front page and he really want to comment. (you can never comment as a guest in here you know) this is what I think anyway, could be wrong shaa. But then, for an imposer to go to that length writing such long text with seemingly verifiable facts just to discredit a post and claim, Hmmmmm. I wonder, to what end anyway.

Something too needs to be done to strengthen ties with the hundreds of mal-nurished igbo children that were taken to Gabon and Cote d'ivore during the civil war.

No I do not know much about them at this point, but from all indications, they do not seem to be suffering from a hostile/anti-Igbo environment as obtains in Nigeria.

You appeared to be a reasonable fellow but now this comment of yours is distasteful.
