Thats really petty coming from sahara reporters. Its a shame, you guys really stoop low to throw tantrums at an old man having symptoms very-very common with old age. IBB is almost 80yrs and if he dies today, he didn't die early at all.

If the result of a muslim stealing his shoes took 24 years since 1993 to manifest, then the result came too late.
Correct. Coming from Sahara Reporters, I feel disappointed

He overthrow Shagari single handedly and Buhari inherited the throne?
Who told you Ekwueme would have stood a chance in being the president of this country?

Let me school u a bit about the 1983 coup which the principal actors, including IBB revealed in many interview sessions. BUHARI was not part of the coup, he was invited in to head the government because he was seen as someone with much respect and follwership within the military, then Buhari was GOC, general officer commanding 3rd armored division Jos. With General Wushishi, out of the way, the army would fall apart if Babangida assumed leadership because he was not strategically positioned to gain the trust and leadership of the entire armed forces. Before the coup, he served in an administrative role in the garrison and he was not a field commander of higher ranking like the nchief of army staff, or a GOC, adjutant or Commanding Officer. that was why when he put Buhari there, he (IBB) became the chief of army staff, and for 20 months, January 1 1984 to August 26 1985, IBB had the opportunity to build and groom his own boys in all divisions of the Nigerian army.

Overthrowing is the easier part of a coup d’etat. Consolidating power and obtaining legitimacy from the very people that coup suspended their right to a constitutional government is the big part. This was the same reason why Major Nzeogwu IN 1966 was successful in overthrowing Alhaji Tafawa Balewa’s governemnt but Unsuccessful in consolidating power, and within 24 hours, Major General Ironsi, Who was the Army Chief of State was made the Head of State when the acting President and Head of the Senate Rt. Hon. Nwafor Orizu pleaded with him to take over for the stability of the country... because as supreme commander of the Nigerian Army, he was believed to have the capacity to establish control and maintain discipline then.

So this answers your sarcastic reply to why and how IBB overthrew and “Buhari inherited the throne”

Lastly, Ekwueme would have been president because OBASANJO Who handed over to Shagari is a Yoruba man, So SHAGARI being Hausa-Fulani would have gone with the flow of allowing his deputy an Ibo man to succeed him as that was the most logical thing then... that was Shagari’s opinion in an interview, which he said their party then, the NPN was in favor off. So I don’t know what u are talking about.

You are 99% correct except for Ekwueme becoming President. There was no hope in hell of him getting into that position.

Has anyone said it would go unpunished? What we are saying is, it is not the duty of the press to scream such headlines. It is simply unethical.

The press shouldn't mock anyone as a result of their health condition. It is totally unethical.

You are one of those that read and believe everything they read without questioning anything.
Now, IBB, Abacha, and the other boys were actively involved in the overthrow of Shagari. Agreed. But do you think that Buhari didn't have an inkling of the coup that ousted Shagari, and that he indeed gave his approval of. it without really getting involved in the practical aspect? If that is your thought, then it's a lost cause arguing with you.
Again, you really believed that Shagari would have handed power over to Alex Ekwueme? Pssst. I don't think you really know how Nigerian politics plays out. The Igbos have a glass ceiling placed above them for certain positions in this country, and unless they are really ready to unite and move with one voice i don't see an Igbo man being president anytime soon. So your theory of Shagari handing over to Ekwueme is balderdash.

I was not a member of the gang of coupists that overthrew Shagari, neither were you... so, if what Buhari, Idiagbon, Magoro, Duba, Bali and Abacha said are all lies that Buhari was not part of the coup, then you are the greatest bigot online. You create your own facts and argue unnecessarily. And how do u know Shagari would not have supported Ekwueme? You seem like someone walking with a chip on your shoulder... talking of speaking with one voice, OBASANJO is a Yoruba man, so was MKO. in 1993, these are the list of Yoruba people who did not speak with one voice with Abiola, when they betrayed him to work for IBB and later Abacha after June 12 was annulled.

1. Ernest Shonekan.
2. Olu Onagoruwa.
3. Lateef Jakande.
4. Ebenezer Babatope.
5. Bola Kuforiji-Olubi.
6. Hameed Kusamotu.
7. Lamidi Adedibu.
8. Arisekola Alao.

Etc. just to mention a few, so did this great betrayal of Abiola with yorubas not speaking with one voice prevent OBJ from becoming president in 1999? SO WHY DO YOU THINK IGBOS not SPEAKING WITH ONE VOICE IS THE PROBLEM?

Don’t worry, Mr. Sabi Sabi, you win, it’s useless arguing with you

Let me ask you again? If OBJ had not won that election in 1999 who would have won? I guess Olu Falae another Yoruba man. So head or tail, A Yoruba man would have been the president of Nigeria in 1999.
If such a scenario were to be presented to the Igbos, then I will believe you that Igbos, nay Ekwueme would have had a chance at the presidency according to your logic.
Moreover Abiola's case is a topic for another day.
