Did you bother to read d reply i gave to d person wch u eventually quoted? Vatican city, a city of just 800 people has a jet for the pope and Rccg cannot av a jet in Rccg for d pastor? And who says it isn't a property of the church? I hope u can now see ur double standard. The catholics av a city for themselves, if it were the protestants, u guys will be d first to cry blue murder. The number of ppl living in Rccg compound alone is more than the whole of ur vatican city.. Nd den again, why are ur Reverend fathers paid? Where do their pays come from?

The Pope - infact, the Vatican itself - doesn't have a private jet though. They charter Alitalia flights when traveling. And the privilege is only accorded the Pope himself as an elected sovereign ruler with international diplomatic privileges: a privilege he loses if he abdicates the office, like Razinger (Pope Benedict) did when he stepped down, or if the Pope dies. There is no sense of "ownership" of these properties. You're kidding yourself if you think Oyedepo's jets don't belong to him and his family. His son is already being groomed to take over the family "business".

The reverend father point is a strange one. I'm aware Priests live off the generosity of their parishioners, but the Catholic situation is hardly as obscene as their Pentecostal counterparts. The modern Nigerian Pentecostal movement are money-grubbing extortionists that pervert the salvation message of the gospel to fleece the flock.

The 500 naira people u are trying to insult, are they not better than you? You sound like someone that cannot even raise 500 even if you use all your family and do ritual. It's just a pity that brain dead people like you have somehow found a way to access Internet. sad

Don't think we are the same. 500 is obviously a big deal for you with the way you have been calling it with reverence and respect. You really like this brain thing. It is a pity that yours is boxed up and unable to think of other words and intelligent ways of disagreeing and arguing, rather than throwing shallow insults.

Try to upgrade your vocabulary...learn new words and be intellectually engaging. You sound really really shallow. I wont blame you though. This young generation have really allowed their smart phones and devices to become smarter than them.

It's jist like in the bank. The people that make the most noise and criticize the bank are the ones with 3, 235 naira if you know what i mean. The ones with the small amounts make so much noise and threaten to close their accounts. The ones running the bank with their money are usually quiet..
you are a very big fool for making that bank example. How much do I think u have?? Pride will kill u sooner

"""Malachi 3, "bring ye all the tithes into my storehouse that there may be meat in my house"""

Go back to ur Bible and read it, the worse problem in Christianity is gross ignorance.

The meaning of the word Malachi - Malakhi in Hebrew means ""The Prophets"". The book of Malachi is a warning to Levites/Pastors n priests who refused to bring In ALL the
Tithes given to them. Pls respect ur self n read the whole book of Malachi to understand the book before u spew Trash.

Deuteronomy 26 vs 12 - When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.

Deuteronomy 14 vs 28 - At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

I'm waiting.

You have just shot yourself on the foot after trying to play smart with God's holy words; now you acknowledge from the scriptures you quoted that it is the Levites who were commanded to receive the tithes, and they are to use the tithes received to do the work of God which includes having food available for the poor and helpless in the midst of the children of Israel.

Does that not corroborate with Malachi 3:10 where it says to bring in all the tithes into the storehouse of God so that there will be meat in God's house? Is it not from what people have brought into God's storehouse that the Levites who were commanded not to work will use and feed themselves and also take care of the orphans and helpless? Was it not clearly stated in Malachi 3:10 that the place to take ALL YOUR TITHES is the storehouse of God? Who are the people in charge of God's storehouse? Are they not the Levites (today's equivalent of pastors). Where did God explicitly contradict Malachi 3:10 by saying you should pay your tithe directly to orphans and the helpless?

yes! the orphans and helpless are meant to benefit from the tithes that people pay because the church is meant to help the orphans and helpless in their midst, but without a doubt, it is the work of the Levites to see to it that orphans and helpless in church are taken care of after ALL TITHES HAVE BEEN BROUGHT INTO THE STOREHOUSE OF GOD as it clearly states in MALACHI 3:10.

If you don't like Malachi 3:10, then go and tear it out of your bible!

good. Am glad u acknowledged dat the pope travels in a private jet. If traveling in it (cos of the luxury) is a sin den it is a sin for d pope to agree to fly in them. Wat differentiate the pope from a pastor? Aren't dey both servant's of christ?

Errr...no. I "acknowledged" no such thing. I said the Pope charters Alitalia flights. Despite the Pope's limited traveling schedule, I'm sure booking the chartered flights are expensive at around $1,200 to $5000 an hour, but still nothing like the cost of Oyedepo's private jets ($30m for his Gulfstream V alone - not to mention the other 3 including 2 other Gulfstreams and a Learjet that together cost about $60m), plus maintenance ($700,000 to $1 milllion yearly for each), parking and demurrage and fueling and paying the flight crew. It's not remotely comparable.

And Oyakhilome exploiting legal loopholes says nothing about his ability to transfer legal ownership when he wants. None of us knows the legal details. But I'm talking specifically about Oyedepo here who has been grooming his son to take over the church like it's a personal family business. His kids are going to reap his "harvest" whenever he kicks the bucket. If he can transfer his legacy to his own family, then he is the owner of the church and its property.

I just pointed out similarities between two sets of people. I am not saying people should not complain. It has nothing to do with pride or having too much more or not. It is a mentality thing or a thing of the mind.

tithe is 1/10 of what u genuiely gain which will be taken to the priest who will bless it what you bring is meant for the upkeep of ministers since they don't have any source of income and also those in need will be helped. yours is just to give if the pastor like to divert the tithe to his pocket that is not your issue the sons of eli(the preist) stole from oferings they were punished. and also those complaining that pastors don't help, have you ever taken your request to the church and you were been turndown(pastors are men also they have problems do you care) surely thier are false prophet test all spirit and follow the true one

As for me... I pay my tithes. It is definitely more than 10%. usually up to 35%

And my "pastors" are somewhat accountable. Unfortunately, I don't really have a say in what they spend it on.

My tithes are called TAXES.

PAYE is about 19%。so you pay 60% from your stipend.

Tithe has well specified structure in the Bible, U can only Argue it, U can't change it. The book of Malachi is advise n warnings from God priests and the LAW - Deuteronomy n Leviticus is where the rules of tithing (For the people) is clearly stated.

U can't change it.

There are people in Olumba Olumba obu, do you think they won't have stopped if the are not blessed?

Most people that produce what you use are not Christians and don't tithe. They are far better than you the tithe consumer times 1,000 . Go to Japan, China, Korea, USA, India, etc and you will see them.

God is using them to bless your life and make things easy for you and that is why you give testimonies in church. How many people around you have you blessed?

1. Have you really given anything to Christ(God) yourself according to Mt 25:34-46?

Matthew 25:35-37
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

Or are you going to be among those that will ask, ''when did we see you thirsty....and did not minister to you?

Tithe payers have abandoned the love for neighbour because they think they are giving to God.

TAP is freeze trying to let you guys know you are missing it.

Now respond to ur post, firstly it reeks of ignorance. The Christian population in USA is 230,000,000 according to Wikipedia. 71% of Americans are Christians. The Christian population is more than the total population of the entire Nigerian population undecided. Orthodox and Pentecostals tithe and America has the highest amount of Pentecostals. The number of churches who believe in tithing are more than those who dont.. The first American billionaire John Rockefeller was a tither and his family still remains one of the richest in the country till date. Let me help u with a list cos am sure u are unaware...

SOME TESTIMONIES OF SOME TITHERS

QUAKER OATS COMPANY
Does the name Henry P Crowell sound familiar to you? How about the company he founded-Quaker Oats? While yet a young man, Crowell heard a sermon by Dwight L. Moody. He made a remarkable commitment to the Lord. He said ‘ I can’t be a preacher, but I can be a good businessman.’ He prayed ‘if you would let me make money, I will use it in your service.’ He bought a little run-down mill called Quaker Mill. Not only did he faithfully tithe but it is reported that he gave far beyond the tithe and funded the Lord’s work for over forty years.

COLGATE PALMOLIVE COMPANY
Who hasn’t heard of the Colgate Palmolive Company? Do you know that a tither found it? William Colgate left home when he was just a teenager. He felt that his father was too poor to keep him. With his only belongings tied in a bundle, he met an old canal boat captain. He confided to the captain that he was leaving home to lessen the financial burden on his parents. He explained to the old man that the only trade he knew was soap and candle making. The old captain knelt and prayed for the lad and then looked him in the eyes and said, someone will soon be the leading soap maker in New York. It can be you. Be a good man, give your heart to Christ, pay the Lord all that belongs to Him, make an honest soap, give a full pound and I’m certain you’ll be a prosperous and rich man. Those words apparently made a strong impression on him.
He tithed from the first dollar he made as an employee. Soon he was made partner of the company he worked for and ultimately became the owner of the business. He, like Henry Crowell gave far beyond the tithe. It is reported that his giving grew from 20% to 30% to 40% to 50% and finally he was giving all his income. He gave millions to the Lord’s work. Think about that.

JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER Sr
Some of today’s well known wealthy families initially gave their wealth when the patriarchs of the family committed to tithing. Take the Rockefellers as an example. Listen to John D Rockefeller Sr’s own words.
Yes, I tithe, and I would like to tell you how it all came about. I had to begin work as a small boy to help support my mother. My first wages amounted to $1.50 per week. The first week after I went to work, I took the $1.50 home to my mother and she held the money in her lap and explained to me that she would be happy if I would give a tenth of it to the Lord. I did, and from that week until this day I have tithed on every dollar God has entrusted to me. And I want to say, if I had not tithed on the first dollar I made, I would not have tithed on the first million dollars I made. Today’s the heirs of many of this great industrialist may have wondered far from the principles that created such enormous wealth and influence. Many of their companies are now publicly held and the stock holders don’t have a clue that they are still reaping the harvest of the righteous acts of their founders. To sustain such success and blessing, there need to be a rediscovering of the principle of putting God first and building a business as a way of seeking the kingdom of God.

R.G leTourneau (INVENTOR OF CATERPILLER MACHINES)
My father was actually impressed by R.G leTourneau. R.G leTourneau was the creator and manufacturer of giant earth moving machinery. As my dad will receive the offerings at the church he pastured, he was fond of referring to R.G leTourneau as a man who could not out give God. Before the end of his illustrious career, this manufacturer will reverse the percentages and give God 90% and retain 10% for himself.
I remember that my parents receive regular publications from the charitable foundation R.G leTourneau started and funded with 90% of the stock of his corporation. Each month the publication will show pictures of the monster machines, some weighing as much as 200,000 pounds and each newsletter incorporated tithing because R.G leTourneau contributed his great success to it. Before his death in 1969, he had contributed millions and millions of dollars to the work of God worldwide.

OTHER NOTABLE TITHERS
We could go on and on and list names like J.L. Kraft Cheese Company, Wallace Johnson, the founder of holiday inns, or the founder of welchs grape juice. Each of these Godly businessmen was committed to tithing and I firmly believe that was the key to their outstanding success and legacy.
When the issue of tithing as applied to the small business is raised, many opinions abound. Often the small business operator is left in a dilemma. Should he or she tithe on gross revenues, net profit, salary taken or taxable gain?

Kenneth hagin once shared a testimony of the depression how a christian farmer went to his pastor because his coton farm refuse to bud even though it was ripe , they needed to harvest it before the rain that was coming. If it rains .the whole farm would be destroyed . it was like that allover the town but the pastor asked him " do you pay your tithe ? the man said yes, The pastor asked him for the tithe card, those days they use cards in churches and the pastor signs in when they pay. So the pastor went with him into the middle of the cotton farm he raised the tithe card up and said "lord you promise to rebuke the devourer, this card is the evidence that this man is a tither.the pastor was not done speaking when they began to hear cracking noise all over the farm! the whole farm turned white! . the cooton budded. other farms were destroyed by the rain.

If u want to be a Christian, be a Christian. Ifu want to serve d devil, go ahead and serve him. D devil also can give u riches, he once tempted Jesus with riches nd said he will get it if he could just bow down to worship him but my savior didn't bow... The most developed nation in d world today is Norway and it is a Christian nation but i wonder y u didn't add it to dat ur list undecided Christianity has been a compulsory subject in Norwegian schools for the past 200yrs and didn't stunt their growth. Is Nigeria even a Christian nation? Wat population of the Nigerian population is Christian? Do u see the progress the churches are making? Do you think Nigeria wont be a better country if the church model is replicated in the country? Now lecturers from government schools go to these schools owned by churches just to use their equipments for research purposes. Ur government budgets billions every year for electricity, u don't av stable light. Where as light and water has been stable in canaan land (housing about 17000 people) since 1999. Even the government cant deny the impact of these churches. Let me stop there

Wat make u think i tither would find it difficult to help the poor around dem? Do u think itseasy to remove 10% from ur salary monthly? It takes absolute surrender to do dat. If a man can give 10s of thousands from his earnings monthly to further the workof God denu think he will findit an issue togive just few thousands to help his neighbor in need? If u can accept to tithe cos u read ur Bible and were convinced itsd right thing to do, same Bible said whosoever give to d poor lendeth to God. Its thosewho would argue with the bible dat would still find it difficult to give to d poor. Ur freeze guy displayed his rolex watch on social media nd wen he was asked to sell it to give the poor he saidhe worked hard for it. And who told you dat pastors do not work hard undecided..

What are your references that shows that all these notable achievers paid tithe?
Perhaps it is simply the fact that these achievers were christians, that's why you are writing all these?
Keep lying and deceive yourself grin
Do you think it is all wealthy christians that pay tithe?

In that case, I can easily write out all the achievements of Obama saying that Obama is from my home town simply because Obama is a black man, without one reference to show for?
Am i not deceiving myself like that? grin grin grin

How could I av jumped and passed what i didnt even see? i responded only to my mentions nd only saw ur post after u mentioned my moniker.

You've kept stressing the prerogative of individuals to pay tithe which few, if any, people have a problem with. I don't really care if someone commits 10% or more of his money to his pastor or plays Baba Ijebu with it or drinks and whores with it. It's a personal choice. The main targets of the ire against tithing are the con artists in the pulpit who appropriated an alien Jewish custom (that most practicing Jews don't even observe today since the destruction of the Levitical order) for their own greedy, venal ends. They are not entitled to anyone's tithe by the scriptures since they are neither Jews, nor disinherited Levites (same way neither Christ, nor the apostles and early christian leaders were entitled to collect a mandated tithe) and they add insult to their con and deception by living in the opulence reserved for corrupt politicians in an impoverished country. No man who rides private jets in the midst of poverty all around him is worthy to be a shepherd of the flock.

What I also personally find disturbing about the mentality of many tithers is their aim. When I keep hearing many talking about how "tithing works for me", I see people who are less focused on what should be the charitable objectives of their money, and instead a self-absorbed, self-serving outlook on their tithe like some kind of MMM scheme where they expect returns on their tithes and offering investment. This is why even thieves, crooked politicians and contractors and civil servants and drug barons are faithful givers with front seats in churches. This perversion of the Christian faith is contributory to why Nigeria, despite being probably the most religious nation on earth, is a moral cesspit of corruption.

Who says I'm a Catholic? I'm agnostic, but I spoke from my experience growing up as a Catholic. It doesn't mean I'm one. Before I lost my faith, I had converted from Catholicism and I was a Pentecostal for years. There is much that is unbiblical about the Catholic church, but they are less driven by the avarice and materialism that has twisted the Nigerian Pentecostal movement.

I'd like to know what is so flamboyant about the Pope. Sure the modern Papacy inherited the legacy of over a millenium of Papal and Vatican excess when the church wielded immense power in European politics. But the modern Papacy has been reformed to live a life of moderation. Popes and cardinals and archbishops don't cruise around in private jets. They would get ripped apart if they did. In Western society, especially Europe, those who preside over tax-exempt non-profits and charity organisations (what churches are supposed to be) aren't expected to live opulently. This is why the likes of Oyedepo and Ashimolowo have got in trouble with the UK authorities before for violating the spirit of the law guiding the running of non-profits.

ur feigning ignorance huh? Does d pope travel in a regular airline? U accuse Nigerian pastors of having security when the pope has the pontifical swiss guard protecting him? How did pope francis get the Lamborghini gift he eventually auctioned (just his preference), if he had decided to ride in it wat will happen? The past popes dat lived extravagantly, has their names been deleted the hall of fame?
