Did you present enough money to take care of the listed? Was it beleivable? Are you been sponsored by a third party bearing little or no relationship to you? Anything could be a problem. Order Gcms notes which is pretty revelatory on the state of the mind of the VO. I look forward to your answers too to these questions.

Thanks for the response,

But my hubby is my sponsor and we only paid 2300cad for us to get my admission letter ,he presented his treasury bill worth over 14m,landed property, he works with a bank his reference letter too. The one year tuition fees is 15,000cad so we had like 13,000cad balance.I have fixed deposit of 2.5m in my personal account which we submitted too.But there was no money in my account. So what is the way forward please

Expecting your response please

Good evening house. I'm having problems with the affidavit of support as I don't know how to go about it. my sponsor - my uncle - lives in the Netherlands while I live here, I don't know if the form should be the one gotten from the Netherlands or Nigeria?

thanks for your support!

Have you ordered your gcms notes? If you haven’t, please do because this would reveal more than the generic letter you received with the ticked prongs of denial. I am guessing you won’t even need to reapply, you will need to do a motion to reconsider. I am thinking you didn’t explain your financial standing well in the previous application. Why did you submit an account with no money in it? I am thinking the VO’s attention focused on that. Did you make it abundantly clear that your husband is your sponsor? Did your husband enclose an affidavit saying he would be your sponsor and how much he would be doling out yearly for support and when this treasury bills can be cashed? Did you enclose a SOP explaining all that? Order gcms notes. I am thinking all you have to do next after you get your gcms notes is ask them to reconsider the evidence that you already submitted which points to 14m in treasury bills and your own 2.5 in fixed deposit. Looks like those were overlooked.

Ps: if you are going with your family (depending on number), 14 million in treasury bills and 2.5 million in fixed deposit may not be enough. You will need to show more money.

The affidavit of support is simply a letter sworn to by your uncle and stamped at a court, averring to sponsor you and stating how much he is willing to spend every year for your support. It is usually attached to the letter of sponsorship, which is another letter from your uncle detailing your relationship and why he wants to pay such a hefty amount for you. It needs to come from the Netherlands since that is where your uncle is based!! You can find a template for this letter by looking on page 0 of this thread. You can draft it yourself, there is no rule to follow as long both documents states the pertinent information I mentioned. Some people even combine the affidavit of support and letter of sponsorship as one document.

Good evening everybody,
This is my first time and I am really impressed with the dissemination of information, big thank you to the contributors
Ok, I graduated with a 2.2 in geology from uniben and I sought admission in Canada for a masters degree but I realised most of the reputable schools don't accept anything lower than a 2.1 ... so I am thinking of applying for a diploma in petroleum engineering technology, SAIT (not post graduate diploma) to augment my 2.2 and to help me secure a study visa ... my questions are;
- is that permitted?
- will the visa officer deny me visa because I already have a B.Sc?
- on the school's website o level is required, do I still tender my B.Sc and give credible and truthful reasons why I want the diploma program?
- my uncle (a citizen, with a wife and 2 kids equally citizens) has agreed to sponsor me, what steps do I need to take to show he will sponsor me? He also agreed to shelter and feed me, do I still need that upkeep domiciliary account is?
- the school also requires English foundation test, who knows any good centres and how much and how long does it take?
- the school say acceptance goes on until Sept 4, 2018 (when the program starts) is it possible for me to complete the English foundation test and apply before the date?

Thank you if have answers for me
I wish everybody applying to study good luck

You got to do what you got to do.

1. Anything legal is permissible. If you feel going for a diploma to augment your 2.2 is the route to go, go with your gut instincts. I think it’s a good strategy. Make sure to explain that very well to the VIsa Officer, why a diploma and not a masters. And why study in Canada and and not in Nigeria?

2. The visa officer would not deny you visa just because you have a bachelors degree and going for PGD . The onus is on you to convince the officer that you are a genuine student and not one using a diploma program as a means of facilitating entry to Canada and absconding from Nijia. Another good reason for why a PGD, apart from the one you stated to augment your 2.2, is because of the specialization and vocational training a diploma program can offer.

3. Yes tender your OLevels and degree. The truth shall set you free.

4 If your uncle has agreed to put you up in his house and provide living and room and Board, showing funds in exportable form in a dorm account is not needed. Present your uncle citizenship papers. Show that your uncle lives near the school, show his bank account and affidavit of support/sponsorship letter. His account should be buoyant enough to support you, taking into consideration how many dependents he has.

5. Do you mean ENglish proficiency test like TOEFL and Ielts? For English Foundation courses, you can search online. They are offered online by several Canadian colleges. You can register and take them online at your own schedule and complete before the September date you stipulated . Check with the school first and make the courses you found online and want to take will count towards fulfilling the conditions of your acceptance.
Best Wishes!

Are you on the wrong thread? Is this school in Canada? Did they specifically require your sister to take the SATs? Cos most schools in Canada at the undergraduate level do not require SAT and at the graduate level, absolutely not required. Is your sister going for undergrad or grad? When you answer these questions I can tell you.
thanks for the response. It's for undergraduate.

Thanks @Jnyuwa,

In the first place no family member is accompanying or coming with me. Also we have planned on replying again but now my husband liquidated part of his treasury bills to pay all tuition fees (only one year program 15000+cad)and I have also liquidated my 2.5m fixed deposit into my account, I have now to the tune of 3.4m in my personal account as my husband will transfer 600k to me also for other expenses.. Currently my hubby should be having up-to 10m in treasury bill and some other things. I have two small kids too as my home ties. My current SOP is now detailed on how we fund the account,We got the rejection February and plan replying April what is your take please.....

1. Trent University
2. York University
3. St. Thomas College
4. McGill

First two have full scholarship for undergrads. The third one has 80 percent scholarship that you seek. Fourth one has full scholarship, always asks for SAT and extremely selective to get into. Best wishes to your sister!

This is great!! Who taught you how to do this? Only be careful now of lump sum. Explain every lump sum in your account in your SOP or sponsor reference letter! Your refusal note talked about you not having funds for your dependents going to Canada. That is where I got the idea that maybe you going with your family. It looks like they had no problem with your home ties. Congrats in advance!! Paying one year fees after been refused based on insufficient funds, is a great stride to take. Open a dorm account and transfer 10k for first year living expenses. Order gcms before filing anything.

I know a year school fees is about 11,159 CAD,paying per semester is based on the number of credit units.check the school fees schedule. I only speak for UofR.

@All

I have called out Frankrobben1 on many occasions here before regarding the issue of coaching people how to lie on visa application but surprisingly two days ago he typed out half a paragraph of made up lies for someone for visa application.

How low can you sink when you have to tell somebody to claim that his brother/sister/mon/dad was murdered so as to change the mind of VO? And that the experiences of loss and grief contributed to temporary academic failure as a result of depression and anxiety?

This thread will do much better without this sort of advice, yes Frankrobben1 has been helpful here but i have given him numerous chances to avoid a ban and he blew it.

Good morning All.. I've been extremely confused lately concerning my GPA. My school runs on Canada GPA scale. However when I compared the grade point of my school to Canada scale.. The GPA point of my school seems more higher compared to all unis in Canada.. My school GPA goes thus.

90-100. 4.0. A. 65-69. 2.33. C+
85-89. 3.67. A- 60-64. 2.0. C
80-84. 3.3. B+ 55-59. 1.67. C-
75-79. 3.0. B. 50-55. 1.0. D
70-74. 2.67. B- 0.49. 0.00. F

My final GPA is 2.62/4.0

My 300 level was 2.77. My 400 Level was 2.60.

I graduated mass comm student from Houdegbe North American university, Benin. My question now is Do u guys think my 2.62 GPA will fly for masters preferably course based.. Help a brother pls..

Yes your gpa is good enough at most school for admission. Some schools only average out your gpa for the last two years and anything above a 70 percent is good. Look at the Unversity of Saskatchewan and University of Regina. If you are looking for scholarship though, in most schools, to be competitive in the pool, you have to have a grade point average above of 3.7/4.0. Best wishes!

Ps: you might want to use the Wes Canada GPA calculator for a more accurate comparison of your grades with the Canadian system.
