Also heard that in the abroad LOs are encouraged to start taking puree at 4 months. Anyone try this before?

I live abroad and we are encouraged to do exclusive for 6 months although i know some people who started giving purees at 4months cos they felt baby was ready(good head control, can decline food when satisfied, can sit upright etc) and not satisfied with only breast milk but all in all exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months it is.

LholarB search creche on this thread, you'll find solid advise from sabi mamas who have gone through the same thing, only thing I want to add is, why don't you try formula before going straight to AS? Introducing solids and separation at the same time strikes me like too many changes, do formula for creche and test solids at home during weekends for now, my thoughts sha

Lululuv I agree with Jazzyjazz, straws are complicated for a baby, my boy just got the hang of it a few weeks ago at 13 months.

Mamas that have their Babies at the crèche, How do y’ll deal with this separation anxiety.... I have been having headache since yesterday.

I got an Email to resume work on Monday from an organization I had an interview with since early March .. [s][/s]already taken my mind off the Job sef [s][/s] and we have been on exclusive since, I don’t even know what to do or how to start .. I have been crèche hunting since yesterday and at the same time , being have diff bad thoughts about crèche cos of the stories I read about some wicked Nannies, it’s just doing me somehow

I dunno how to go about the food cos I have not being expressing for her , the last time I did it she didn’t take the bottle and I just got tired with trying since we are always together but now dat I have to start work on Monday , dunno how to go about the food thingy.

Gave her Aptamil creamed banana porridge earlier today , she took it , then I also bought August secrets food since she is close to 6 months ( we are 5 months 9 days already) , not started with the purée foods yet ... she eventually threw up the whole food , tried giving her again but she kept on pushing it away ( I know I have to be patient)and I have just 3 days till Monday , mamas Biko what’s the way forward here cos I have being having headache since.

PS: where can I get that Haiers flask, saw the reviews about the flask here , plus asides putting packing hot water for her , do I still need to put cold water in another flask? Sorry for my confused state, am new at this, thanks!!

Do not beat up yourself about it.

It's annoying that the notice is so short, a week extra would have helped tremendously to make sure she is settled ok in the new environment and for you as well. But hey we are where we are.... so, let's ace this!

At this age, milk is still their primary meal! So that is a good thing!

Go and buy formular and pack it for her as back up.
You can start expressing for her from today and freezing so you have some bm to take to the creche on monday.

When you pick her up in the evenings. You can start offering her other solids and you continue at the weekends with the new food introduction. These can then be added to the creche food.

You can also give her cereals for them to try in nursery, give then only things that just need them to add water or milk.

With new foods for babies just a few spoons initially is considered a success, we mums sometimes expect them to finish a whole plate/bowl. Consider also that they are learning to take food off a spoon and swallow things that are a new texture for them. So it will take time.

Pre-pack each feed plus like 2 extra portions,. Pack your flasks of hot water and a bottle of normal water. Pack your nappies and a few extra clothes.

The next few weeks may be stressful but You will be fine.

you mean you took him to a doctor and laid your complaints yet nothing was said? not even advice on how to handle him going forward.

request to see a pead and allow tests be conducted to ascertain the reason for the recurring boils.

Is it not same abroad that i was giving similac second day after birth because she eat much? Please, exclusive is not a die affair. If you can do it good, and if you cannot don't kill yourself. After all, i breastfed my DD successfully for 15 months. If you have a child that eat, you will know that even doctors would recommend you to intervene with good formula product.

Please what can I pack for my 23m daughter to school. She's very selective, she don't like yam and beans even potato porridge or yam or plantain.

Do I put extra plate for her? How many do I pack(she prefers cereals to food? Fruits nko, hope it won't spoil.


Please other mama's should help,don't mind my plenty questions.

Since she is a picky eater, i guess you should try and use saturday and sunday to try new food for her.

What about oat? Have you tried that out?

Bread.(slice bread, those soft ones)
Noddles without spicy but you add pinch of pepper, ginger,fish, spring onion and small oil?
Okro with soft swallow nkor? Have you tried that? let me know sup

It is highly recommended to start any form of puree at 6 month because that is when your LO intestine can process some food to some extent. You may give your child formula or water during the six month if she is a heavy eater. Also, if you can do exclusive good but if you cannot, mix with formula. Once you introduced formula you have to start giving water.

By vomit, what quantity comes up? If it is all the food, Please go back to the hospital, ask to see a paed, in fact go to another hospital

If it is a little quantity do you burp your baby after meals? Also try not to lie baby down immediately after eating

Please go to the hospital for the boil. Another hospital because i dont think that doctor knows his job. Ask to see a pediatrician. For vomit, make sure your burp after every food

I'd advice u make a lil quantity to avoid wasting and since she is still new to solids.

Check any baby shop or big supermarket for Haers flask... If u don't see it, there r other brands dt work well too

Yes mama, I did search and it really helped with clothings to pack, it’s just cos have been doing exclusive with no bottles, dats why am really concerned...I will do just dat at the bolded, can I try Aptamil formular or which formular do you think exclusive fed babies like .. just so we don’t waste money again!!
