Buhari has ordered our immigration to keep the border open for his kinsmen from Niger, Chad , Sudan and Mali. we now have them in every state riding okada, picking trashes and selling stuffs in the wheel barrow, they all claim they are from kano because they see Nigeria as America. they even have our voters card that some Nigerians do not have.

And you don't know that has been happening long before Buhari? And represents a long term failure of the Nigerian state

Of course she was an abysmal failure. The so called coordinating Minister of the economy just watched as her colleagues looted the country dry. An overrated imperialist stooge. That’s what she is.

Does she consider herself a failure or success in her assignments under Jonathan? She recalibrated the economy to capture previously hidden industries. Big deal, but that's not the job of growing the economy. The oil fueled economic growth of almost 7% had tapered down to about 2% by the time her government handed over power with huge debts and deficit.
But on the other hand she coordinated the signing away of money to shady uses by writing a letter to wash off her hands like Pilate did in the murder of Jesus. She looked away while her fellow president Diezani was looting and sharing national resources with her boy friends. Even a Ghanaian guy took part in the heist.
So did she fail or succeed?

Is that what is in contention here? He did not fail but you're too blinded by sentiment to see, you talk as if a minister is given a carte blanche to do whatever, how about governors uniting to empty the excess crude account, those governors and their cronies are now the ones throwing stones, when it comes to this Nigerian pathetic situation, I support nobody, but let's leave this pretending one person is better than the other and see things beyond our noses.

That guy wasnt wrong; just about all the great achievements NOI made under OBJ were reversed under GEJ, and that was because GEJ as the boss couldnt hold things together.

Is it in terms of national debt?.. is in terms of the ECA or the foreign reserves?... NOI cleared all the nation's debts under OBJ and was able to accru national savings up to $60bn. But in a period when Nigeria enjoyed the largest unprecedented oil boom, national debts grew steadily to higher levels than it was before being cleared and no defined projects can be pointed out which those debts were used for. Similarly for foreign reserves and ECA, under OBJ NOI supervised these accounts growing from about $5bn to over $60bn. But under GEJ, the same NOI saw that same $60bn vaporize down to $30bn at a time when Nigeria earned its largest income.

Talking of economic indices all looking good under GEJ, that was just a function of high oil prices, high oil income and indiscriminate spending. When excess money is in the system and it's being spent indiscriminately, it tends to show positively on the economic indices like GDP growth rates et al. The real report card on whether the money was well 'spent or not usually shows up when the excess money supply dries up; and that takes us to late 2014/early 2015 when contractors started being owed, billions of dollars were being borrowed to pay salaries, next to nothing was being budgeted for capital expenditure in 2015 etc.

Some might pop up the "biggest economy in Africa" story, but that certaintly isnt an achievement which could have happened under a year of GEJ's rule; it is something which was built up over several years prior to 2010. In a nutshell, like I said before, all the great achievements of NOI happened when she was under obj, and those achievements were largely reversed when she served under gej.

If the economy was doing fine as you claim, why did they have to borrow money just to pay salaries? Why were 21 states unable to pay salaries of their workers and meet other financial obligations? Why did Buhari have to bail out states as early in his administration as June 2015? Why did contractors have to abandon all federal projects due to the lack of funds? How many capital projects did they execute despite oil boom? Where is the second Niger bridge that Jonathan swore to deliver when he was campaigning in 2011? 450 billion dollars from crude oil receipts alone in six years and not even a single functional refinery, what did they spent all that money on? can you show me pictures of any federal project commissioned by JonathanI Worth 20 billion naira in six years? Did Okonjo warned of an impending economic crisis or not?

This is not how to calculate what Nigeria earned under Jonathan. The figure you've mentioned is a gross amount based on OPEC prices. It doesn't represent nor take into consideration, deductions that would be made after the major IOCs take out their share from these figures, it doesn't take into account deductions for cost of operations, etc. Take for example, OML xyz is operated as a JV between chevron oil exploration and the nnpc with a sharing formula of 51-49% or 60-40%. If that field is producing 100,000 bpd and OPEC's selling price is $60,that would amount to about $6bn. $6bn doesn't go to the federal government but would be shared in agreed sharing formula between the fg and the ioc. Fg via the nnpc would still deduct their own cost of production before arriving at a net figure that would be remitted to the fg. There's a lot of misinformation out there in the media and it's killing us as a nation.

Because it cannot be a unilateral decision.

It would need the approval of the House.

Also, it is a decision that can be made when there are adequate alternatives e.g. Dangote refinery.

One man owning a refinery for a country of almost 200 million people is dangerous. Very dangerous

Sowore writes for the highest bidder. I won't give him my vote even at gun point.

That ridiculous market women list he called a manifesto even made it more stup!d to consider him a worthy candidate. Donald Duke is just another pi$$ of sh!t living largely on hype especially from people who don't know him. He has a pretty face so the sentiments are quite understandable.

My only worry is that Nigerians might repeat the same mistake in 2019. We have never voted with facts and statistics. We only make judgements base on sentiments and emotion. This is the same country where some persons voted Buhari because he drank N50 Milo/Bournvita. I'm really scared that some persons will use sentiments to enslave the whole country in the same dimension.
People like Sowore shouldn't even be mentioned in the realm of politics. He's far from being intelligent, he looks confused, like he doesn't know what he's going there to do.

Duke then lacks the moral capacity to steer this nation with the neutrality and high standard required cos what we need is a leader that can step on toes and even match heads if need be

In your quest to garner likes from likewise foolish minds like yours, you failed to know that states getting bailed out was a direct reflection of the scam being perpetrated by the state governors! Abi na FG dey pay state salaries? Has there ever been a time when states didn't get their monthly federal allocation? Even upon the bail out, how many states today are debt free? Why did states like Anambra not apply for the bail out funds?

One thing the APC during their opposition days successfully did was to make all and sundry focus all mishaps in the country on the FG, forgetting the state government and governors had their roles to play! Amaechi and Co were systematically ruining their states and pointing their fat corruption dripping fingers at the FG and they had a lot of people fooled! Just see how the so called bail out funds were misappropriated! It was a scam right from the beginning for only the discerning minds!

You can never connect the fact that for every dollar stolen and not remitted from oil sales, the states get less allocation. When Diezani and her boyfriend's made huge kill from crooked oil deals less money reaches the federation account. Almost all MDA's were not remitting anything to the account under Iweala. Jamb remitted almost nothing in 3 years and suddenly 8 billion in a single year to the federation account. And you still wondering why states were unable to pay salaries?

There are other players in refinery business in Nigeria such as Petrolex.

My friend, go get ur fact correctly, the least Jonathan sold crude oil was at $80 a barrel yet he was borrowing to pay salaries. Have u asked him what he did with d excess crude account left by his predicessor. Equally ask him how much he invested and or saved in his time that will answer ur question whether he was a saving president or a wastage and or a liability of a president.
This is a pure lie. Oil prices fell up to $70 in 2010 and Jonathan wasn't borrowing to pay salaries then.

Nigeria wasn't borrowing money to pay salaries in 2012. Get your facts right.
deomelllo:

1. The incompetent woman warned us about recession back in 2012. Why? Was this under PMG or Jona?

2. The same incompetent and Jona introduced austerity back in 2014 when oil was selling for $78. Why? Was this under PMG or Jona?

3. The same incompetent woman and Jona borrowed money from 2012 till Jona's last month in office/May 2015.

She was practically borrowing hundreds of billions to pay workers salary.

4. The same incompetent woman was the economic coordinator, but she was so dumb, clueless and colluding with looters that she left a battered and unversified economy.

5. The so-called finance minister couldn't even account for every kobo of public funds. The whole economy was leaking funds from NNPC and other money-generating agencies looting funds and refusing to remit funds into federal accounts.

6. Madueke opened dozens of illegal accounts and looted billions of dollars under her nose, but the incompetent woman looked the other way.

7. The same incompetent and clueless woman and Jona stole $2 billion and gave it to DASUKI ATM to share with their crooked and corrupt PDP cronies.

So, the useless woman managed our economy so good that she was prescribing recession, introducing austerity, borrowing hundreds of billions till her last day in office to pay workers salary.

She was so good that she left us with a battered and undiversified economy, depleted ECA and foreign reserves.

You people are just too ignorant and clueless, you think we arrived at this stage by accident.

This woman introduced austerity measure and asked you to get ready to suffer when oil was selling for $78, but you want to like like a king when oil is selling for $27.

You ippbs are just too mentally clueless and lazy
