65 EARLY YEARS TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW.

1. Develop your child's writing skills by encouraging them to make a mark with crayons, chalk even sticks in the mud.
2. Lead by example and show how important it is to wash your hands thoroughly.
3. Ask young children to find objects for you or name body parts and objects.
4. Sudden, loud noises often startle toddlers. Try to explain the cause of noises to keep calm to reassure them.
5. Develop your child's writing skills by encouraging them to copy you when you write.
6. Remember to teach action words(verbs) as well as the name of things (nouns).
7. Develop your child's maths skills by getting them to find everyday objects which are squares, circles or triangles.
8.It is easier to enjoy your new baby and be a positive, loving parent when you are feeling good yourself.

13.Engage with children on their level, not yours.
14. Encourage your child to tell you his name and age.
15. If you are concerned about a child's speech, refer to speech and language therapy sooner rather than later.
16. Place toys slightly out of reach so your baby has to stretch to get them.

JGracious:

Keep giving him what he likes but don't stop trying out new foods with him especially when you are eating.

You can equally sneak some of those foods e.g banana into his cereal in little quantities.(pls do this only when you are the one feeding him)

In addition, stop combining foods for now, one food at a time. If trying potato, let it be potato only not with egg or chicken. If giving egg, let it be only egg (fried or boiled) like you mentioned.

If his weight is becoming much of a bother, see a pead/nutritionist.

Cheers

THANKS MA, I WILL TRY THAT. CONCERNING HIS WEIGHT , WE HAVE SEEN VIRTUALLY ALL PAEAD IN LAGOS OOOO. WAS TOLD BECAUSE HE IS SO ACTIVE. HE IS FINE. BUT I JUST WANT HIM TO ADD A LITTLE FLESH.

Please my 11 weeks old daughter just won't take formulae she wants only breast milk, I was advised here to get other types and which I did but after first trial she won't take it again.
I'm so bothered right now cos I'm resuming work next week Monday. Been having issues with mil cos she wants us to force-feed her which I feel the baby might get used to and in turn cause problem when they start crèche.
Her twin bro takes between 75-100 mls which my daughter struggles with 25mls. Please what can I do about this

Loool @ sensei. When the pap is on the fire break the egg inside. Cook for at least 5 mins while stirring, chikena. Do it once or twice a week. Eggs are very healthy for babies

What else is your back useful for? Abeg give her food let her add more weight grin grin grin

I love using Chicco range of products because it makes the baby's skin beautiful and soft to touch I.e if ur baby is fair, u'll love the fairness. If ur lo is dark skinned,u'll love the ebony color. Secondly, it's skin friendly. I'v not seen or heard any baby react to the product EXCEPT it's the fake (which is now rampant) that's purchased.

maybe because I grew up in a house dat I and my siblings don't lyk food and we were force fed but I don't see anything wrong with force feeding a child that don't lyk eating ...my baby is a foodie but at a stage she just rejected food I force fed her and I had issues when I visited my Mil she told me to stop and I stopped but in her presence my baby leaned down to d extent my hubby who was supporting d mother even force fed her.... d side effect is dat eating tym will b crying tym which she later got used to and started eating again and she regained her weight and am happy force feeding her because I don't want to hear stories of malnutrition..force feed her if it is all it takes for her to eat
my humble suggestion

This force feeding matter just reminded me of something funny that happened in the class.
So there's this Black French boy in my class (doesn't understand what we say in English but speaks French (mom) and Yoruba (dad) well cheesy). He doesn't like food at all, just water and play....rough rough play angry.
So my partner decided to feed him by force cos he spits on your face or vomits all over you lol! She carried him and held his hands and chook the spoon in his mouth but this boy is strong mehn! And she was barely hanging on so she called me to help hold his legs, at first I didn't understand and I held his legs merely on impulse but sth just lit the bulb on my head and I heard myself say "force feeding is illegal and I can actually be jailed for this!!!!" I left the leg with immediate alacrity and told her "there's CCtV! There is evidence, you can actually be jailed for this! Me I'm not there o" . they were all looking at me like what's wrong with this one but I was actually scared for real cos his father looks like one do or die kinda person. Please I'm too stubborn to go to jail, dem go beat me die for there cheesy

He still doesn't eat (only his yoghurt and apple sauce) , we package his food for him like that and he looks so buff and big for his age o (clocking 2 this month).

found this great article, I think it's for mothers not fathers lol
Everyone loves a chubby baby — there’s something about a roly-poly belly and thighs that is completely adorable. “Baby fat” is something people don’t worry about. Not only do we think of it as cute, we think of it as healthy — and temporary.

Unfortunately, it’s not healthy or temporary. Which is why parents need to be mindful of their baby’s weight.

It used to be that baby fat was indeed healthy and temporary. In days when infant mortality was high, a little heft meant some extra reserves for the baby. And until recently, most children lost their baby fat once they got old enough to be active outside. But modern medicine has made babies far more likely to survive — and modern technology and other societal factors have made children far more likely to be sedentary. The reality is that baby fat turns into child fat, which turns into adult fat.

Luckily, there are some simple things that parents can do to keep their baby at a healthy weight and set them on the best path to stay that way.
