As for demarcus the biggest fools were Portland trailblazers and indiana . Both teams require an elite big man. The problem in the league is that apart from the obvious brilliance of the warriors front office, the big boys are so stacked that there is no point trying to be competitive right now. Most teams need to rebuild.

Serious as his injury was you mean nobody could offer him a $12-15mil deal? Mozgov, TT, Biyombo are on 3 times the salary Boogie is due.

He figured if he's not going to get a big payday then might as well join the team best poised to win a ring as the Pelicans were not willing to go above the $8m exception. It literally made no sense to stay in New Orleans for an extra $3m.

On a positive note if you're a Warriors fan, Rudy Gay also suffered a torn achilles in January last year and was back for training camp. The risk is ridiculously minimal..
