Exactly what was said earlier. The sponsor's status, accommodation, and finances are the main aspects to focus on as stated earlier.

Hi Everyone,
I want to find out if you get an email that documents have been received. My husband just sent our documents. Thank you

Wow.... It took you ages to enter lol.... I got my visa two weeks or so after yours and I already have spent almost a week in the UK before you arrived. Well, its all good.....at least you are here now.... I was lucky not to have met a very inquisitive immigration officer like yours (maybe its because I landed in Birmingham though)....the only funny question he asked was the name of my spouse lol....then he asked 2/3 more and that's it.... didn't meet any other officer or person till I got out to the arrival lobby of the airport.

I hope you haven't forgotten that you only have one month on your vignette visa... Go get your BRP ASAP.

Good luck to others waiting for their good news

Hi everyone,
I got to the UK yesterday and the immigration officer asked quite a number of questions. He asked me when and where I got married, how I met my husband,if I had resigned from work in Nigeria and if I planned to work in the UK,if I already had a job offer here, where my husband works and what he does there, then he asked me where his office was located. Well,I knew where he worked but didn't know the location and I told him so. He didn't seem too pleased that I didn't have that info. He then told me to try and get to Southampton by Monday to pick up my BRP. Na so I run leave am o,before he'd look for something out of the blues to ask.

In my case NO MESSAGE about receipt of documents but got a generic email:

Dear ..................................,

Regarding Visa Application: .........................
For: .....................................

Your online application has been received at the UK Decision Making Centre. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer.

If you have made a Settlement application (except for applications lodged in USA and Canada): you must ensure that your UK sponsor has sent all relevant supporting documentation to the UK Decision Making Centre in Sheffield. The documents should be arranged in this order: application form and relevant Appendix* (See below); English language evidence; relationship documents; maintenance documents; accommodation documents. If documents are not received a decision will be taken on the basis on the information that has been provided..............
and so on

The main thing is you got in without issues. Usually, these questions are subjective and totally at the discretion of the IO.

In my case I wasn't asked a single question at all, I had to deliberately tell the IO to stamp the spouse visa vignette because he was looking at my visit visa instead.
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Embellish: 10:04pm On Jul 02, 2018
Lol...I travelled at exactly 2 weeks and 4 days after I got the visa cos I had give them notice/resign properly at work. Moreso, I had to see family and a few friends. It seemed as tho that immigration guy had issues with me cos I felt some of his questions were uncalled for. In all,I jumped and passed. I picked up my BRP today. Hope madam is doing good.

It doesn't matter what qualification or no qualification the applicant has. HO only cares about the sponsor. They don't care if the applicant doesn't work as long as the sponsor meets the financial requirements. All this talk of portfolio or business papers are irrelevant and I am talking from experience. You only need a portfolio when you get to the UK and are applying for jobs or looking for clients.

Except you are applying for a Tier 1 visa.

Aii thanks for the clarification, since you say you are talking from experience.

Hi all,
For those that have gotten their visas please i want to ask is it a month you were given to leave Nigeria? And what are the best airline tickets available now.

For spousal visa, the vignette in your passport will clearly state the validity duration. Yes, usually a month for you to enter England to pick your BRP card.

For best ticket based on price and travel time, try any of these sites:
1. Wakanow
2. Travelstart
3. Skyscanner
4. Travelpaddy

Simply input your travel destination and dates and voila!!!..watch the miracle happen and just select. It also allows you to be flexible with your dates. Maybe good to note that price difference is not much between a one-way ticket and a return ticket.

Good day house, ps I will like to get some explanations on this issue about a friend of mine waiting for her hubby to fill for her stay from Nigeria.

She said the hubby came to the uk as an EU spouse, the hubby was married in Germany and later the he persuaded the white lady he married to bring him to the uk, that he prefers the UK to enable him further his studies, which the white lady did, dat was in jan 2011 they came to uk. The white lady did all the immigration runnings and he got a five years stay, which he can still renew. So later in 2012 they divorced amicable bc of some circumstances , without no grudges, and the guy stayed alone. And in 2017 he applied for his permanent resident but was not given. The reason given is that he should provide a proof that the ex-wife was working in the UK bf divorce. But the problem is that he has losted contact with the lady and when contacted on Facebook, she has refused to respond . The lady av left UK. So the lawyer told him that when he is feel to apply on his own is in two years time. Which is ending of 2019. Ps house is this true? My friend has been confused and she really need to join her hubby, she is tired of staying alone here in Nigeria.

More so her husband is a surpport worker and works with diff agencies here in London. I will like to ask when he gets the permanent resident can the hubby apply for her with agency pay slips or will he need to get a full time job for this application? The man says he makes more than £18,600 in a year bc the agency pays him more. Ps any advice on this, should he switch to permanent job when he gets his permanent resident and want to fill for his spouse?

NB : After graduation, comes the tithe payment ..... 23% tithe payable ......

I have included my British passport and citizenship certificate along with photocopies of both.
I have also highlighted in bold in my support letter that I will need all my original documents
back along with others such as registry certificate, wife's and daughter's birth certificate in the
prepaid envelope included. I take it that this is okay or is it just passport only to include? Thanks

Hi @Killingmesoftly I would only be able to answer the question i bolded. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think working with an agency matters in as much as you are earning £18600 and above and you have all documents to prove this (employer letter, contract, pay slips and bank statement). When my husband applied last year, I was working with an agency and his application came through..

Like I said earlier, I did not receive any email saying my documents were received either and same for a lot of people here I presumed.

The best way to guarantee peace of mind when delivering to UKBA is to:
1. Use a "trackable & signed for" delivery service. That way you can track the delivery and have a recorded signature of the recipient.

2. Be sure you use the right delivery address, I used:
UK Visas and Immigration, International
PO Box 3468
Sheffield
United Kingdom
S3 8WA

If you have these two points checked, then you should be fine. All the best.

Good morning everyone! Please I still have a little problem here. My wife is self employed and her self assessment is not up to the£18600, due to the fact that she report less than she truly earned. Please my people what other sources can we add up to meet the requirements as personal savings can't be combined. Please anyone with useful information on how to go about this issue cos I'm really on the hot sit .... thanks all

She needs to increase her hustle or start declaring all her cash earnings etc etc etc (and start paying the right taxes), this process is got no shortcuts .....

And I hope you realise that the requirements for PAYE is very very different from a self employed sponsor?

If you are struggling to meet the £18,600 threshold, I can bet my last Naira that also meeting the self assessment documentation prerequisite, is also going to be an uphill struggle......

Thank you Justwise and Oxygyne. I will pursue as you guys have said and hope an outcome will happen. She has her passport with her so that is not a problem. She went to the centre where she did her TB test to get a new certificate and was told she needs to bring back the old expired one before a new one can be issued. We will try again and see. Here I stand, another graduate of this noble institution! grin grin I can't say thank you enough to everyone who has contributed vital information on this forum. The information is pricelessly invaluable!

I got my passport back today, with the visa!!
67 working days in total. I'm so elated and relieved. Here's my timeline;

*Online application - 31st March 18 (Non-Priority, Settlement - wife)
*Biometrics - 3 April 18
*Transferred to UKVI mail - 3 April 18
*Docs received at Sheffield - 16 April 18
*Being prepared for consideration mail - 23 April 18
*Application not straightforward - 1 July 18 (getting this after 62 working days sent me into panic mode!!)
*Decision made email from TLS - 5 July 18 (Day 66)
*Passport collected with visa - 6 July 18 (Day 67)

The last 3 months have been the longest, marked with obsessive mail/TLS status checking and counting working days. Lol. My advice, if you can, by all means, please do Priority. The wait is harrowing. Praise to God that its over and it turned out positive. I pray everyone waiting receives their good news soon too.

Congratulations!!! I can imagine but in fairness 67 working days is not bad for non-priority.

I must say priority service is nice (because I did priority) but the wait no matter how short the duration is always going to be nerve-wracking because it's more about the thought of possible refusal which will keep you away from your loved ones and ofcos the cost of the application, that weighs on your mind.

So its an opportunity cost scenario, either wait for 3 months or spend extra approx 275k.
If I was guaranteed to get the visa and I had 3 months to wait, I will not pay that extra 275k that I can use on flight ticket..lol

Congrats again
