Why can't we train hyenas or African hunting dogs? Be different, unique and pioneering. Before anyone laughs derisively, has it been tried? Some northerners, as depicted in those photos that went viral a few years ago , seem adept at handling Hyenas and baboons.

Anyway, I just want Nigeria always trying to be different and innovative for the sake of Africa....

The uniforms you're seeing are USED by the AFSF: there are about 2-3 defferent types used by the AFSF.
The Nigerian Military presently uses the types of camouflages. The universal and woodland camouflages respectively.

PRESS RELEASE

NORTH EAST BECOMING UNBEARABLE TO TERRORISTS AS TROOPS INTENSIFY CLEARANCE OPERATIONS, *Neutralise 3 terrorists
*Capture 2 Gun Trucks
*2 Anti Aircraft Guns and
*1 Motorcycle

Following sustained robust and aggressive clearance operations, in recent days, troops had recorded tremendous successes in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East. Dozens of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters were annihilated, large cache of assorted arms, ammunition and so many variants of gun trucks and other fighting vehicles were captured.

Additionally and most importantly, the operation resulted in the rescue and eventual liberation of over 100 women and children from the grip of the criminals/terrorists.

Therefore, in order to consolidate on the numerous
successes so far achieved, the rugged troops of 112 Task Force Battalion deployed at Mafa in Borno State had effectively dealt ruthlessly with members of BHTs/ISWAP terrorists in Mafa, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State, when some terrorists attempted to attack Mafa on 24 June 2019.

The terrorists failed attack on Mafa was as a result of available intelligence indicating the desperate longing for food and other logistics by terrorists necessitated by the recent, incredibly tireless and ferocious troops' operational exploits.

During the failed attack, terrorists in 5 gun trucks and several motor cycles were seen. Consequently, the troops reacted swiftly with heavy fire power forcing the terrorists to scamper for their dear lives, and recovered 2 Gun Trucks mounted with Anti Aircraft Guns and a motorcycle and the extermination of three (3) terrorists. There were indications that some of the insurgents members were wounded in an exchange of fire.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu had since visited the conflict location with reinforcement.

While being conducted round the camp to assess the situation, the GOC urged the troops to remain focus and not to be carried away by the successes. He directed them to redouble their efforts and doggedly maintain the momentum until they win the war on terrorism for Nigeria through total victory against the bandits.

Similarly, he assured them of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai's continued appreciation and support in the collective struggle to crush the insurgency.

You mean the captured BHT, Honestly the only suffering he gets was when his been captured by troops and civilian task force. Once his been handed over to the Military police/intelligence is been treated well and deradicalized under Operation Safe Corridor, a military facility on the outskirts of Gombe Nigeria, that houses ex-jihadist fighters for the deradicalization programme under the Federal government amnesty offer. Hence these facilities that houses this convicts in Borno and Gombe are of best standards and practise.
The Nigerian Counter Terrorism Strategy recognised that force alone was not enough to combat violent extremist elements in Nigeria and that a multi-faceted approach was required to counter the threat of violent extremism. The Office of the National Security Advisor (ONSA) was tasked with developing an ambitious countering violent extremism (CVE) programme consisting of three elements: community-based counter radicalisation; strategic communications; and de-radicalisation. The de-radicalisation element of the CVE programme included establishing a prison based de-radicalisation programme for sentenced and pre-trial prisoners.

NAF IMMORTALIZES LATE COMBAT PILOT AS PERMANENT SECRETARY MOD COMMISSIONS NEW ACCOMMODATION IN ABUJA

In keeping with its tradition of immortalizing fallen heroes, especially those that paid the supreme price while serving the nation, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has named a newly built block of six 3-bedroom flats at the NAF Base, Asokoro, Abuja after late Group Captain Ubong Nnamso Akpan. The late senior officer who was a combat helicopter pilot died while on a combat mission in counterinsurgency operations in the Northeast on 13 November 2014. The building project, which was commissioned today, 26 June 2019, by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence (MOD), Mrs Nuratu Batagarawa, was executed in furtherance of the Federal Government’s determination to meet the residential accommodation needs of officers and men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Permanent Secretary assured the NAF of the commitment of the Federal Government towards ensuring adequate provision of basic infrastructures for AFN personnel through befitting office and residential accommodations as well other welfare incentives. According to her, given the statutory mandate of safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation, the AFN deserves befitting welfare packages. "Therefore, we are determined to continue to accord due attention to the welfare of our troops and continue to pursue these projects steadily, within the limit of available resources", she said.

Speaking further, Mrs Batagarawa used the occasion to acknowledge the robust support and encouragement of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, without which, she said, the numerous projects and operational feats being celebrated would not have been possible. She added that the Ministry would not relent in its efforts to continue to boost the morale of personnel of the AFN for enhanced professional performance. The Permanent Secretary also expressed her appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, for the cooperation extended to the Ministry by the NAF towards the successful implementation of the project.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Administration (COA) Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal Kingsley Lar, noted that the new block would not only provide the needed comfort for the beneficiaries, but also augment the numerous ones being provided by the administration of Air Marshal Abubakar in ameliorating the accommodation challenges of NAF personnel in Abuja. The COA recalled, with nostalgia, the enormous contributions of late Group Captain Akpan to the Service and the nation, particularly in the counter insurgency operations. He noted that the late senior officer paid the supreme price while in active duty, hence the need to immortalize him. He expressed NAF’s continued commitment to support the families of all fallen heroes in all respects, while urging all serving personnel to remain unwavering in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. Highlights of the occasion included the reading of the citation/Service Record of late Group Captain Akpan and presentation of keys to the beneficiaries of the new accommodation.
