This lockdown is supposed to stop the spread of this virus. This would have been the case in a developed country. Where the entire country could be disinfected during the lockdown, people are provided with food and shelter etc.

But the the reverse will most likely be the case in Nigeria. Here are 5 things Nigeria will most likely achieve with the lockdown.

1) basic esentials will be on the rice.

2) more jobs will be lost

3) Nigerians will become poorer

4) crime will increase

5) more Nigerians will die from other diseases like High Blood pressure, depression, malnutrition etc due to lack of access healthcare and emergency response.

At some point violence and lawlessness will have a field day and people wont even care anymore if they are infected or not . This will lead to a wider spread.

Op why is everything negative? undecided

What about the good side of it like, cool
-Family bonding cool
-Getting closer to God cool
-sober reflections cool
-becoming fatter and healthier grin

With all my heart I wish so too. But the truth is that Covid is a very infectious disease - it's not deadly like ebola or malburg, but it is really easy to spread and fast too, that's what is so worrisome about the virus. And we don't know much about it too, that's why most countries are on lockdown. It's really unfair to lock down a place like Lagos because people with underlying health condition will die before the virus even gets to them.

Even if they're going to lockdown, they should make it mandatory for food sellers, pharmacy, medical home, delivery drivers to work because they're the real life savers here. And it should be compulsory to wear a mask before going outside. But I don't expect FG to give any thought to how this will affect the life of the common man. We're just like disposable animals to them.

That's the truth you said it all, government want people not to go to work, go for their business then you must be ready as government to provide them with those basic necessity, food, electricity, shelter and money for up keep if government is not ready to provide every single Nigeria with food, money at least they should not tell us not to go to work or do our business because that's where our means of livelihood comes from

Nigerians lacks the savings culture the more reason we are always scared of losing a day without struggle.
It's a pity bro...
If you visit brothels, clubs, beer parlor and abgoo joints at night.....you will know that Nigerians are reckless spenders ......
Especially these so called barrow pushers ,drivers and conductors

Do you need a prophet to tell you that the person that pushes Barrow in the market or the one that hawk, the bus driver, conductors etc will need to be on the streets to survive?

Even the most advanced society will have it's tipping point from which chaos will reign... Humans are d same every Whr.. The govt needs to work in such a manner that will ensure that point is not reached...

This is the what will happen, people will become hungry, food supply will run down and food stuff will become scarce and people will start losing their cool.
You can not estimate the power of hunger, people will start doing anything to survive because I know we don't have any back up plan

Dont waste your energy. Nigerians love living in denial.

I talk with more than 4 people yesterday and once you say anything on the virus or the economic effect, you just hear them saying God forbid, it will not be our portion. So personally i think most Nigerians lack simple logic reasioning.

What is coming is scary. Even countries like US is scared of what the virus will do to their economy.

Nigeria that is standing on one leg are still acting like this is a childs play.

corona had just managed to kill only one person in Nigeria. If the lockdown should continue till mid April, the death toll from hunger will exceed that of corona virus........ average Nigerian are not salary dependents, they hustle very hard to put food on the table

A country with
No water
No power
Most Nigerians are traders
Most Nigerian feed below a dollar per day
Our police are animals in uniform
The people think they're slaves
Majority are zombies

Total lockdown will do more harm than good if comprehensive stimulus packages are not provided

All these social distancing and lock down means nothing if we are not testing and isolating infected ones. Then we can go on with life with high safety guidelines especially for those within the medic and food supply chain.

It is baffling if we feel we can lock the virus down.

Social distancing means nothing without testing and isolating infected ones.

These things are inevitable. But it's rather that than millions of death. The economy can always recover and jobs restores. But human life once lost cannot be restored.

If it is only some ambiguous concept of economic setback and lost jobs, then you are right. But an economic setback and lost jobs means more than just a concept. We are talking about the very real effects of these. Coronavirus on its own cannot kill millions in Nigeria, but hunger and loss of jobs can.

This stupid government does not know the implications of the lockdown or curfew. What measures have the put in place to make the suffering less during this period?

Did they send money to those who might starve during this curfew which may last a week or more?

U don’t execute powers just because u have it. U execute with a sense of responsibility to all.

When you say the truth....a common sense analysis based on the current scenario

They will attack you

When it start happening they start calling god for help....jumping from one celebrity page to another to bg for help

But someone said it Earlier that these things are likely to happen they will say to you...OH SHUT UP, YOU HATE NIGERIA THAT'S WHY YOU'RE PREDICTING RUBBISH

OH IT WILL ONLY HAPPEN TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

And when you look at those people attacking you they are northerns....the region most likely to die of malnutrition and region with high tendency of violence....

IGBO SHOPS WILL BE LOOTED IN THE NORTH THERE'S NO TWO WAYS ABOUT IT

I WILL GET BANNED FOR SAYING IT BUT I WON'T STOP SPEAKING THE TRUTH UNTIL YOU ALL GETS CURED OF YOUR STUPUDITY
