That's what subsidy, price controls are doing to our petroleum, and power sector.It is why we don't have good power supply, and why until recently we kept on having fuel scarcity, and why we don't have enough refinereis.

Your reasoning is quite sound in a sane climate, but Nigeria is not that. The people including myself have no trust for them when it comes to funds. When are they going to focus on removing government wastage of public funds the way they are focused on this subsidy issue? They remove the subsidy and use the saved funds to pay a retinue of redundant PAs and SAs and a millions other wasteful government spending. Let us see them effecting change in their own house first and people may find the subsidy removal pill easier to swallow.

When will an honest government in the Nigeria fix or privatize the refineries. They are waiting for Dangote refinery to start so they can sell us to him. It is well, I no blame those that hv cut out from this country and promised never to look back

Of course by the time the petroleum industry breaks down because they would be running at a massive loss as a result, plus the fact that we would be in serious debt to pay the subsides that result from keeping prices down....

Inasmuch as people would insult me, oil subsidy must go. Nigerian government must stop controlling prices of petrol. So that we can have more investment, more savings, less loan taking, and crucially, more jobs and refinereies, and a better economy.

If government had subsided GSM from the word go to the point that we pay N2 per minute.....I would have been typing this from an internet cafe, with a snail speed internet...like the good old days.

1.We don't have enough refienreis because subsides keep prices too low to make having a domestic refinery profitable. (which is why when Dangote finishes his refienry, which he took a heavy loan to build , prices either go up or it runs at a loss.

2.I'm not in government, so I do not give licnences to cronies to import fuel, plus all that ended when Buhari made NNPC the sole improter of fuel in 2017. (and paid off outstandig subsidy claims)

3.It is not a matter of fixing the refienries. According to NNPC it costs N165 to refine one liter of fuel domestically. We are selling it at N143 NOW. That means anyone building a refienry is going to sell at a loss.

As a matter of fact, govt has given 61 people licences to build refienries since 2011, and less than 10 are building.

You cannot refine fuel at N165 or more and sell it at N143 and expect to have funds to keep up your refienreis. Plus, now that NNPC is solely importing fuel, it is incurring a loss annually paying for keeping prices low. How do you expect them to get money to pay for refineries...when it is all going down the subsidy trap.??

You need to know the racket and what it takes to get a petroleum import license.

Secondly if our refineries were operating at 60 to 70% capacity then it wont be a so much big deal if govt pays subsidy on import of about 30 to 40%.

If the govt was fair then they should have just giving multiple coy the license to operate modular refineries.But again,we have placed all this on the lap of one man.

Reference is hereby made to the above subject matter, Jol Community Development Association (hereinafter referred to as ‘’JOCDA”) hereby complains and states as follows:

1. That Jol Community is one of the 8 Wards that constitute Riyom District of Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State.

2. That prior to terror attacks meted on it by suspected armed Fulani militia, JOCDA had 16 hamlets which were Dakar, Daku, Danjol, Darel, Darin, Darwat, Davwak, Fass, Hywa, Lotton, Rankum (Mahanga), Rot-Chun (Rafin-Acha), Tanjol, Tarai, Tashek I & 2, but now reduced to 7 by displacements of inhabitants of- Dakar, Daku, Darel, Darin, Davwak, Fass, Hywa, Rankum (Mahanga), Rot-Chun (Rafin-Acha) and Tashek 2 as a result of unabated terror attacks from 2001 to date.

3. That 3 of the remaining 7 hamlets have been partly displaced excluding Lotton, which recently returned after a total displacement in 2014.

4. That the Community has lost over 140 native inhabitants, hundreds injured, thousands displaced, valuables worth Millions of Naira to the Fulani’s continued aggression and mischievous grazing daily visited on the surviving natives. Pitiably, vast lands of the host community (Jol) has been forcefully taken over and occupied by the Fulani thereby impoverishing the victims whose economic potency crippled.

5. Among the hamlets completely sacked and taken over by the attackers is Rankum, which has been renamed “Mahanga village”, where your good offices sited a project of “Construction and Furnishing 12 Classrooms Block with VIP Toilets”, an action that informed this petition.

6. Surprisingly, the project was contracted and executed without due consultation with either the traditional ruler of Jol community, District Head of Riyom LGA, His Majesty, the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman Traditional Council of Plateau State, Local Government Council or other critical stakeholders for their information and input which would have cautioned as well as guided against siting such on land grabbed by way of armed invasions, especially as the sacked inhabitants are very much alive.

7. That JOCDA has tirelessly been calling on appropriate authorities to come to its aid with the aim of regaining possession of the land grabbed (Rankum inclusive) precipitated by terror attacks as veritable tool for acquisition of land contrary to stipulated statutory provisions, but to no avail.

8. Note also that the speed at which the construction was done within a very short time raises a lot of suspicion that the fact of this development was being railroaded in order to foist a fait accompli on the local community.

9. Going by the above sad developments, it’s deducible that the rationale behind the continued attacks on Jol and its environs is no other than ethnic cleansing and territorial expansionist agenda of the Fulani which has become routine atrocious circle ceaselessly being meted out for brazen attraction of privileges from your office and other Government institutions/agencies.

10. In the last 2 years, there were incessant aggressions on daily basis. Consequently, loss of lives and properties with attendant traumatic experiences became the order of the day, leaving the locals in a state of deep fear of another armed attack that is currently looming up in recent times, immeasurable distorted livelihood and social realities as a well perpetual fear arising.

1.Marketers are no longer importing fuel , since 2017 when Bubu made NNPC the one and only importer of fuel.(and paid off all the marketrs their outstanding claims )

2.Government has given over 60 licences for oil refienries since 2011. Less than 10 are doing soemting about it. Why? It costs N165 and above to refine one liter of fuel here in Nigeria. And we sell fuel to endusers at N143 per liter. Meaning any refienry is going to run at a loss.

It is also for the same reason NNPC does not have enough cash to fix its own refienreis, and that is why we import refined fuel

Over a month ago, oil sold for about $20 and pump price was reduced to N123. Now oil price has risen over $40 and pump price has increased. If oil price rises further to say $80, pump price would surely rise again, except we want govt to resume paying subsidy.

The title of this report is actually misleading; government didn't increase oil price, rather pump price has just increased in line with global oil prices.

It took the fuel station in my area two weeks to comply with the former price. They claimed they're still selling the old stock. But watch how they'll quickly change to the new price before I wake up tomorrow.

They said they will no longer fix the price and yet we have this.

This government isn't ready to deregulate the price. Until that is done, the oil sector can only perform at a fraction of its capacity

Next level in action. Increase in tariff. Increase in VAT. Increase in fuel prices. Increase in hardship. Increase in unemployment, etc etc etc.

Even at 2000 naira per litre some of us can afford it !!! But can Buhari supporters afford it?
