Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by bilms(m): 11:28pm On Dec 25, 2011
Hello guys, i have been wondering why no has talked about this,or am i the only who think american artists are not any better than our nigerian artists? Let's face it, i have been listening to american music for some time before finally fallen inlove with the nigerian musics, but ever since our local artists stole my heart,i have no regrete what so ever. Comparing the nigerian artist to their americans counter part,i do not see the americans in anyway better than our artists. Be it in the rap game or singing,in the content of lyrics or anything, nigerian artists are better in my opinion. Some times when they play the american music and i compare it with ours,i found nigerian songs better in most cases now. How come some of us are always negative and feeling infirior when we are actually superior?

@Op, u must have tinkle tinkle little stars installed in your brains, how can u say naija musics is better that american musics when nigerians are copying americans?  Very soon u will tell us Naija movies are better than American movies, you are home alone
Re: Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by Nobody: 12:52pm On Dec 26, 2011
Is Nigerian music better than American (Western) music?

In my opinion, based on what I like to listen to, I'd say no.
Re: Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by Cogito(m): 12:53pm On Dec 26, 2011
It doesn't need to be a competition. You can like Nigerian music as well as American music, Chinese music, Spanish music and whatever. At the end of the day it's rather unproductive to compare Seun Kuti to Gucci Mane, wouldn't you agree?

Edit: If it's a case of which industry is more advanced, then obviously it's America.

Debanj and the other artist running to America are going there for capital. Talent is universal. However capital and opportunity is not. Musical preference also depends on your taste. Americans love rap becos they hav less challenges, and so need more content to stimulate them. Nigerians prefare dance hall becos we are poor and need to dance our sorrows away. U cant expect lil wyn to do dance hall better than terry g, and vice versa. comprehendi

D'Banj and Don Jazzy did not run to America. America ran to them. Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music mob saw the potential in the Naija music of Don Jazzy and D'Banj and as true business people signed them. You think Kanye will just get involved with a Naija artiste without seeing dollar signs. There is really no issue about which kind of music is better, it's all about taste but at least Naija music and artistes are getting better.

Nigerian music today is better than what we heard in the 90's. It's definitely a big upgrade, I'd like to be nice but I honestly doubt that Nigerian music is better than American music. U know a good music/artist when it's recognizable all over the world. We see Lady Gaga for instance perform in different  countries and everyone recogizes her songs. The same applies to a lot  American songs. That's what makes one music better than the other. With the help of YouTube and other social networking sites, Nigerian music is going places, but it's just not there yet.

What's nigerian music?. Most of em are fu*ked up. They sing trash and they make a lot of meaningless noise. I don't even have a copy of any of em at home. Don't get me wrong now, even though i hate em, i still like a couple of em like 2face, duncan mighty, mode 9 and Asa but i still got no copy of em. As for Others, it irritates.

Dnt even compare both at all.
Re: Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by BABE3: 2:28pm On Dec 26, 2011
It's arguable.

American music is equally as shitty as Nigerian music. American music is equally as good as Nigerian Music.

I can easily compare ASA to ADELE (yh, I know she's British). I can easily compare DBANJ to KE$HA . I can easily compare ELDEE TO JASON DERULO.

I can't easily compare M.I. to EMINEM.  grin We are not there yet in the rap game. It's not "our thing" anyway. It's understandable.

The only glitch about Nigerian music is inadequate female singers. Females need to step up their singing game.

IMO, Nigerian music is better. 80% of the songs on my gadgets are Nigerian songs. Nuff said.  cool

You should seriously stick to Fela, we dont want who dont know anything about musics to be comparing
Re: Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by amblors(m): 2:45pm On Dec 26, 2011
Naija music is still miles away from there even Eldee talk am.
that Dami Duro song some1 put up there is what is wrong with naija music - Zero content + dope azz beat.
beat and lyrics suppose represent to deliver good music.
Wande released 3 singles some weeks back which were so hyped but by me are extremely average, the content wasn't dope neither was it bad,
Djinee comes out with Din Din, useless song, so so Din Din full the song,
Banky W try atleast Lowkey represent, SettingP na flop

That you prefer to listen to Nigerian music like me doesnt make it better, its just what you've gotten so used to

I heard a producer being interviewed say just come and i would make you a star, weda u fit sing or not,
whats he saying in other words?
you don't need content i'll give you a dope beat and you'll hammer e.g. Dami Duro; Tonto Dike, Terry G, Timaya suppose dey hia too,

Our rappers could drop one verse and fill the rest with chorus, smh

American/Western Music >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nigerian Music.

Re: Nigerian Music Is Better Than America's by amblors(m): 2:53pm On Dec 26, 2011
No doubt there's good music out there, how many wan hear am?
how many people listen to Asa, Nneka?
How many listen to Bez, Timi, Etcetera, Adol?
How many people have heard of SDC?

this is the kinda music we shud hype, yet the blogs and in on it hyping shyt.

some1 said the music industry is more rotten than our politics #debatable.

the common man on the street needs a banger, we also need bangers,
so we're fed that, with or without content.
e.g alhaji, alhaji, as long as it rocks.

then you compare it to american music, don't get me wrong, there's plenty shyt coming from US artistes but
they've still got a substantial number of artistes putting out good music and they do get buzz.

hia na to hype Dami Duro,
abi na club jam, letz go dia,
