Hmmmm! Nigerian soldiers lack professionalism wallahi! Since the day I saw a drunk Nigerian soldier in from of the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, I lost hope in the Nigerian military.

What they are doing here is against the military norm all over the world. There's something called espirit de corp which shouldn't let one soldier disgrace another in public no matter what. In fact, if the soldier has erred, he can't be arraigned in a civilian court because of this espirit de corp. Instead, he'd be court-martialed in a military court.

If you dig into the event in this video, you will discover that it's a case of tribal hate.

Yes, even if he might have done it, it is still unprofessional to have disgraced him in this manner. The military, I believe, have rules.

How about taking the person to the court to prosecute the suspect like civilized organization?

I have same opinion here. If someone does something that contravenes the law, you should take the person to court, not humiliating the person mentally and physically. It is barbaric.

if the science and technology come, you will also complain. There is a law in Nigeria that says civilians shouldn't wear camoflauge. Everytime this law is enforced, everyone complains. The same ppl will later complain that they want 'rule of law'.

If it contravenes the law as you have claimed, is it not proper to arrest him, hand him over to the police for disobeying the laws of the land? Is the Nigerian army not under the same laws of the land? Telling someone to lie inside the gutter is not the primary duty of the army and it is barbaric.

See the moment Nigerian army officers apprehended a man on the street and humiliated him for putting on camouflage trousers. What do you think about this? Do you think such an event should still be happening in Nigeria, in 21st century where the world is focused on science and technology and sustainable development?

Buhari secured their protection before handing over i guess. If that's not the case, tinubu wont try to bend the people to accept harsh conditions. He would have gone after the so called bandits terrorizing the majority. I wonder what the livestock ministry has achieved if they are still causing havoc under the guise of neglect.

I wonder how security operatives were so quick to track EndBadGovernment protesters but cannot track down these bandits/terrorists. Which way, Nigeria?

This is before the society became so influenced by the ways of oyibo people. I remember how it was back then. Life was simple and people didn't see it as a do or die affair.

Today, to celebrate birthdays, special photographs must be snapped, clothes borrowed or rented and different activities must be involved. Even if there is no money, we must borrow to celebrate the birthday.

See how life was simple.

Crime / Man Killed And Dumped In A Gutter In Nkwelle, Anambra State (Graphic) by Rapmoney(m): 6:49pm On Sep 07
Here is the body of a man murdered and dumped inside a gutter close to Nkwelle Community, Oyi LGA in Anambra State. It seems he was murdered elsewhere and dumped inside the gutter. The blood that was dripping from his head was still fresh as at the time his body was discovered. His legs were tied with ropes.

The video is very graphic and YouTube may not allow that but I have posted the Facebook link to the video below so you can watch it.

In my own case I sell car ...sometimes I would love to show my clients the video..instead of the picture . My video don't upload ...I looking for a way to compress it so that it will show .

Nairaland doesn't support that. If you want to post videos of the cars you sell, create a YouTube channel, upload videos there, copy the video links and paste them under your posts on Nairaland.

Crime / $53,000 Scam: Court Jails Graduate For Impersonating Singer, Flavour by Rapmoney(m): 9:46pm On Sep 04
Justice Dehinde I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos,on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, convicted and sentenced one Ikpaka Courage to two years imprisonment for presenting himself as Chinedu Okoli, also known as Flavour, a Nigerian singer, to dupe a United States of America citizen, Mrs. Yvelte M. Thompson, of the sum of $53,000.

Courage, a graduate of Philosophy, was arraigned on Tuesday by the Lagos Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a two-count charge bordering on cybercrimes and money laundering.

Count one reads: “That you, Ikpaka Courage, sometime in April, 2021 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, directly made a false statement, wherein you held yourself out as a Nigerian entertainer by name

"Chinedu Okoli a.k.a. Flavour N'abania" on your Telegram account, knowing the same to be false and with intent that the representation is relied upon for the purpose of procuring the issuance of financial instrument to yourself and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 22(3) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015.”

Count two reads: “That you, Ikpaka Courage, sometime in April, 2021 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, indirectly retained the sum of $53,000 (Fifty-three Thousand USD) in your Access Bank Plc account number 0108866415, which sum you reasonably ought to have known forms part of the proceeds of your unlawful activity to wit: dishonest conversion of the said sum, property of Mrs. Yvette M. Thompson and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18(2)(d) and punishable under section 18( 3) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act,2022.”

He pleaded "guilty" to the charges when they were read to him.

Following his guilty plea, the prosecution counsel, S.I Suleiman, presented a witness, Azibagiri Dan Ekpar, an operative of the EFCC, to review the facts of the case.

The defendant, Ekpar said, was arrested in Lagos on June 10, 2024.

He added: “Upon his arrest by operatives of the Lagos Directorate, he volunteered his statement.

“In his statement, he confessed to have been involved in a dating scam, and that he used his platform to impersonate Chinedu Okoli a.k.a. Flavour N'abania.

“He also confessed to having obtained the sum of $53,000( Fifty-three Thousand United States Dollar) from one Mrs. Yvette M. Thompson under the pretence that he would perform on her birthday in Washington DC in July 2021.

“The money was transferred through a Bitcoin wallet he created in order to receive the proceeds of crime.”

In his further review of the facts, Ekpar said: “He also admitted to have forged the Nigerian international passport data page of

Mr Chinedu Okoli a.k.a. Flavour N'abania and also created a fictitious email address, which he used to communicate with the victim.

“He had restituted the sum of N7, 900,000 (Seven Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira) by raising a managers’ Cheque.”

Suleiman, thereafter, applied to tender, in evidence, the defendant’s extra-judicial statement, and bank’s statement, printout of chats between him and the victim as well as the Bitcoin wallet statement from Binance.

Justice Dipeolu admitted them as exhibits.

Counsel to the convict, Bayo A. Phillip, prayed the court to “temper justice with mercy”, adding that “he is a first-time offender and he did not waste the time of the court.

“My Lord, he did not channel the proceeds of his offence into living lavishly; rather, he used it to further his education and is now a graduate of Philosophy.”

Consequently, Justice Dipeolu convicted and sentenced the defendant to one year imprisonment on count one, with an option of fine of N1,000,000 ( One Million Naira).

He was also convicted and sentenced to one year imprisonment on count two, with an option of fine of N1,000,000( One Million Naira).

The Judge ordered that the money be forfeited to the petitioner and also remanded the convict in the EFCC custody pending the fulfillment of the order within 21 days.

Courage's journey to the Correctional Centre began when he was arrested by operatives of the Lagos Directorate of the EFCC for internet fraud. He was charged to court and convicted.

Romance / Ladies Who Don't Have Up To ₦500k Should Stay Off Marriage by Rapmoney(m): 11:31am On Sep 02
Nigerian men compromise too much in relationship and marriage. A man who is educated and financially stable can marry an uneducated and financially handicapped girl but the reverse can never happen. Only in the dream or Nollywood movies can a financially stable and educated Nigerian lady marry a broke and uneducated man.

If Nigerian men follow the same pattern women employ in relationships, then many women will clock 45 in their parents' homes.

Ladies should have up to 500k in their bank accounts for a start before they dive into marriage. At least, such can serve as backup so that they don't depend on their partners for every little thing they want. And they should also be working or doing business. No man deserves a liability as a wife. If you don't have up to 500k and above, then go and work or start a trade and leave marriage alone. You are an adult and not a toddler that should be spoonfed.

Don't crucify me. It's my opinion.

Education / Re: Why Are Talented And Innovative Young People Neglected In Nigeria? by Rapmoney(m): 12:40pm On Aug 28

Excellent reasoning..

Some time ago, a Nigerian woman got huge donations from members of the public for cooking and taking care of her husband, because she didn't want the husband to eat from his female colleague. Mind you, she cooked for her own husband, not for orphans or homeless people. Imagine Nigerians donating to a woman who cooked for her husband!!! These same Nigerians will never drop a kobo to encourage a young talented citizen who has invented something useful.

God Bless You !

Thanks a lot.
Education / Why Are Talented And Innovative Young People Neglected In Nigeria? by Rapmoney(m): 9:37am On Aug 28
I have been pondering on this for some time now. I have observed that young talented and innovative people in our society are usually neglected and none of these socialite, celebrities, wealthy folks, business moguls, social media influencers, etc care to support them in their innovations. I mean, I have seen young people invent things and got no financial support to advance their innovations. The ones that can access opportunities to travel out have since left the shores of Nigeria, while those who cannot afford the cost have had their dreams destroyed or suspended indefinitely.

Some days back, I read how a meat pie seller got millions, house, and other kinds of support. In as much as I have no hard feelings towards him, I would really like to know what special talent he has because for me, I see none. What he does has no relative effect on our economy and the socio-economic life of the society. This goes a long way to show that most black people in this part of the world render help just for self gratification and recognition and not for the sake of mankind.

How many celebrities, social media influencers or members of the public would give material support to a lad that has invented a useful machine in Nigeria? Your guess is as good as mine. We fail to realize that encouraging young people like this can in turn encourage more young people which can boost industrialization, science and technology.

These same Nigerians will never drop a kobo to encourage a young talented citizen who has invented something useful.

We can create a better society by paying more attention and giving more support to causes that can enhance education, innovations, science and technology and industrialization.

Nigerians promote too much mediocrity and run after unnecessary recognition.
