Another problem is that he actually invoke Allah's wrath upon him if he is lying, he even cursed Ali r.a, yet u see the rafidies calling him martyr,

Hassan Shehata then responded by saying that Aisha the WIVE of the Prophet (he LITERALLY ADDED THAT!) was a Fasiqah and criminal who hurted the Ahl Al-Bayt and unjustly killed Muslims, so may the curse of Allah be upon her/the wrath of Allah be upon her or the WRATH of Allah upon me (Shehata), if I am a liar.

Someone swear and asks for God's wrath to descend on him if he is lying.you go ahead to lynch him, parade his body and then jubilate that that is the wrath of God.are you salafist criminals claiming to be God who aportion divine wrath on fellow humans? Well such criminals are definitely not God but a curse to humanity and human existence.abu lahab could have conviniently claimed that it was God's wrath when the holy Prophet (s) was stoned in taif.or as yazeed claimed that the killing of the Prophet's (s) grandson-Imam Hussein (as)-in karbala was revenge for what the Prophet (s) did to his elders in badr.same criminal jahiliyyah ummayyad thinking!

Even Egyptian Christians do not behave in such a manner yet some cultist did what non muslims would never do in the presence of other Muslims! Something is wrong with these people indeed!

Oh yeah try to seek sympathy of non-muslims to justify your support for criminals.but again you have failed in your claim.check youtube for videos of Father Zakaria Boutros, the egyptian coptic priest who appears on the evangelical arabic al-hayat satellite channel, and listen to his pure and plain insults on islam, the Prophet (s) and muslims.your salafist sunni brothers in alqaeda went as far as placing a 60 million dollars bounty on him.

After the bipolar individual huffing and puffing, the above remains undeniably true, true to the extent that hezbo boys are praticing in Syria, true to the extent iran police chief restates, true to the extent that shia criminals gangs in Iraq repeatedly practice, true to the extent that in hezbo boys recently practiced in lebanon, true to the extent that Iran have repeatedly executed sunni scholars in Iran, true to the extent that criminal gangs in pakistan do the same, yes bipolar individual with multiple I'd syndrome keep playing ostrich unless offcourse, u simply prefer watching press tv and deprive yourself of varied sources of news that would be quite shameful indeed!

Iraq-Shia fight against alqaeda "sunni" terrorists.

Iran-fight against foreign interference, and anti-regime "traitors".due legal process is applied.also fight against Sunni separatists/terrorists in Balouchistan, who are sponsored by foreign intelligence bodies.again due process is applied.

Lebanon-fight against western agents of the March 14 alliance, dominated by the Future Movement (a "secular" party led by Sunni politicians),who want Hezbollah to disarm and give up its weapons, which has driven the Israelis out of Lebanon and liberated Lebanese land that was occupied by Israel.

Syria-fight against Sunni terrorists, including alqaeda ones (referred to as al-Nusra front in Syria),who are sent in by NATO countries and their middle eastern puppet regimes like Saudi Arabia, turkey, qatar, and Jordan.

stop beating around the bush.give one instance where a Shia went into a Sunni mosque or a Christian church to do suicide bombing and kill innocent civilians, simply because those innocent civilians share different beliefs (from the Shia beliefs).you will not find one instance in the entire world.even when the Shia are pushed to the wall to retaliate in like manner after the Sunni salafist/Wahhabi terrorists use suicide bombing against Shia mosques/neighborhoods filled with innocent civilians, the Shia exercise restraint (thanks to their wise scholars) and come out high in their Islamic conduct, morality and humanity.but of course someone who has chosen ignorance as his path and blindness as his drive will not be able to differentiate.your case is hopeless.you cannot be helped until you start to help yourself by first attempting to think.

After all the noise no coherent respond to the above, what an absolute pity!!

you are still bent on missing the point, arent you?

whether Shia regard sunnis as muslims or not, killing of civilians/non-combatants in islam is forbidden even if they be non-muslims.fighting is only against the aggressors and those who have gone on the offensive against muslims.this is the shia stance and that is why you don't see "shia militants" or "shia suicide bombers" bombing sunni civilians and their mosques,as the salafists do to shia civilians and places of worship.whether Imam Mahdi (aj) would return to fight or to share candy,he is going to follow the same approach and sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (sa).he will only raise his sword against the aggressors who have attacked muslims.anything other than this is forbidden.agression and using force for other than defensive purpose is not permissible in islam.with all the bombings in Iraq and Pakistan targeting shia civilians, the shia have not resorted to random killing of sunnis and collective punishment for retaliation.that is because collective punishment and killing the innocent soul is forbidden in islam.if the Shia are even to lose their Islamic principles and retaliate in places like Pakistan and Iraq,no one would really blame them even if their acts would be condemned in principle of prohibiting killing of civilians.

it is so silly that someone is bent on forcing the shia to admit that shia regard sunnis as non-muslims,even though the shia deny.yet this person does not find it unpalatable to declare shia as "mushrikeen" (worse than being kuffar),and does not condemn salafists/Wahhabis for killing shia and Christians because they are "kuffar" even if they are innocent civilians and non-combatants.why does it shock you if you are considered "unbelievers",when those criminals and terrorists you are beating around the bush to conceal their criminality clearly and plainly accuse other muslims (i.e. the shia) of being "kuffar",and use that as justification to attack and bomb shia civilians? what sort of nonsense is this? you can propagate such nonsense online that even you don't believe within yourself, but in real life if you make such views in public you'd be driven away like a mad man.

Do sunnis have something like "sunni genocide in Azerbaijan, lebanon, bahrain, iraq or iran"? but we have evidence like this (in a sunni majority Pakistan, which of course got its independence thanks to a Muslim statesman who was Shia,Muhammad Ali Jinnah-the founding father of pakistan) :

"Genocide Of Shia Muslims In Pakistan"

do sunnis have instances where "Shia suicide bombers" blow themselves up in the midst of sunni worshippers,in sunni mosques or sunni populated areas with harmless and defenceless innocent civilians? well we have this, and the instances cited happen almost every day around the world thanks to wahhabism/salafism that some people are beating around the bush to hide very hard:

Iraq car bombs kill at least 50 in Shia areas of Baghdad

140 wounded in apparently co-ordinated attacks on markets and busy streets across capital

Agencies

theguardian.com, Saturday 10 August 2013 17.55 BST

A series of car bombs in mainly Shia areas of Baghdad have killed at least 50 people and wounded more than 140, police and medical sources said.

Nine separate explosions on Saturday targeted markets and busy shopping streets, the sources said. The bombings, which appeared co-ordinated, were similar to attacks in Baghdad on Tuesday in which 50 were killed.

Attacks have multiplied in Iraq since the start of the year, with more than 1,000 people killed in July, the highest monthly death toll since 2008, according to the UN.

Sunni Islamist militants have been regaining momentum in their insurgency against the Shia-led government and have been emboldened by the civil war in neighbouring Syria, which has stoked sectarian tensions across the Middle East.

Police said the deadliest of Saturday's attacks took place when a car bomb exploded shortly before sunset near an outdoor market in the south-eastern Baghdad suburb of Jisr Diyala, killing seven people and wounding 20.

A series of car bomb attacks against cafes, markets and restaurants in Shia areas of the capital killed another 33 people and wounded dozens.

Outside Baghdad, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in a car on a busy street in the town of Tuz Khurmato, 105 miles north of the capital, killing at least 10 people and wounding 45, medical and police sources said.

Tuz Khurmato is located in a particularly violent region over which both the central government and autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan claim jurisdiction.

Police believe the bomber was trying to reach the local headquarters of a Kurdish political party but was unable to reach the building because of increased security in the area, a police source said.

Tue Jul 30, 2013 4

Iranians are commemorating the anniversary of the martyrdom of the first Imam of Shia Muslims, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him).

Imam Ali (PBUH), whom Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) declared as “Amir al-Mo’menin” (The Leader of the Faithful) was martyred on the twenty-first day of Ramadan over thirteen centuries ago.

The first Imam of Shia Muslims was saying his prayers two days prior to his martyrdom when assassin ibn Muljim hit him in the head with a poisoned sword in the Mosque of Kufa.

Imam Ali (PBUH) was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s highly revered son-in-law and cousin as well as the first Imam of Shia Islam. He was the leader of the Islamic Caliphate at the time of his assassination.

The night before his passing is considered the second of the three holy nights - each being known as Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Destiny). Muslims throughout the world spend the nights worshipping God.

The martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali is commemorated in Iran as well as other Muslim nations around the world.

Wave of car bombings targets Iraqi Shi'ites, killing 44

Mon, Jul 29 02:45 AM EDT
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Twelve car bombs exploded across Iraq early on Monday, killing at least 44 people in predominantly Shi'ite areas, police and medical sources said.

At least 10 people were killed when two car bombs blew up near a bus station in the city of Kut, 150 kilometers (95 miles) southeast of the capital, police said.

Four more died in a blast in the town of Mahmoudiya, about 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad.

The rest of the bombings took place across Baghdad, in Sadr city, Habibiya, Hurriya, Bayaa, Ur, Shurta, Kadhimiya and Risala neighborhoods.

A relentless campaign of bombings and shootings has killed nearly 4,000 people in Iraq since the start of the year, according to violence monitoring group Iraq Body Count.

The violence has raised fears of a return to full-blown conflict in a country where Kurds, Shi'ite and Sunni Muslims have yet to find a stable way of sharing power.

In recent months, Sunni Islamist militants have regained momentum an their insurgency against the Shi'ite-led government, striking with a ferocity not seen in years.

In July alone, more than 810 people have lost their lives in militant attacks.

Sectarian tensions across the region have been inflamed by the civil war in neighboring Syria, which has drawn Shi'ites and Sunnis from Iraq and beyond into battle on opposite sides.

why not open a thread and title it "bash Khomeini",so Maclatunji can also sticky it? grin grin grin grin grin

kazlaw2000: this is just a fiqh issue and nothing else. this kind of fatwa could also come from a 'Sunni'(sorry to use this divisive term) sheikh. Who knows, some of them might even concur. on a side note, i have learnt that its usually fatally wrong to discredit in haste any 'strange' ruling. Body of Islamic knowledge is so vast. I can only have a definite position on this after reviewing his evidences. Meanwhile, i would still be proclaiming that drinking intentionally invalidates fast.

Death toll from Iraq attacks reaches 75

Sun Jul 21, 2013 4:6AM

The death toll from a series of car bombings and shooting attacks in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and other cities has risen to 75.

Twelve car bombs and a roadside bomb struck different commercial areas in Baghdad’s predominantly Shia districts on Saturday.

At least 65 people died and about 200 others were wounded as blasts went off after the breaking of the daily Ramadan fast or Iftar.

In the deadliest attacks, two car bombs claimed the lives of 12 people in Karrada, central Baghdad, while two car explosions and a roadside bomb hit Zafraniyah, southwest Baghdad.

Earlier in the day, gunmen shot and killed Bassem Mahmoud, a leader of the anti-al-Qaeda group Sahwa, and two of his bodyguards near the city of Baqouba, the capital of Diyala Province.

Meanwhile, a bomb blast in Madain, about 20 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of Baghdad, killed five people.

In the northern city of Mosul, an explosion killed one woman and wounded 25 others.

According to the UN, about 2,500 people have been killed in Iraq in the past three months.

Iraq has been experiencing a surge in deadly attacks since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan in early July. Iraqi officials say the acts of violence are being committed as part of a foreign-backed plot to foment sectarian strife in the country.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says militant groups and remnants of the ousted Baathist regime are responsible for the carnage.

Iraq: Baghdad car bombings kill at least 33 people

BAGHDAD (AP) — A coordinated wave of car bombings tore through commercial streets in Baghdad on Saturday night, killing more than 30 and wounding dozens as insurgents kept up a relentless offensive during the holy month of Ramadan.

The blasts struck in Shiite Muslim areas of the Iraqi capital. Although there was no claim of responsibility, coordinated bombings against Shiites are a favorite tactic of al-Qaida's Iraq branch.

The explosions were all caused by car bombs timed to go off after the breaking of the daily Ramadan fast when many people are out shopping or relaxing in coffee shops, police said.

Bombings and other attacks have killed more than 230 people since the start of Ramadan on July 10. The violence is a continuation of a surge of bloodshed that has been rocking Iraq for months, reviving fears of a return to the widespread sectarian bloodshed that pushed the country to the brink of civil war after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

Saturday's blasts began with an explosion in a busy shopping street that shook buildings in the central Baghdad neighborhood of Karrada. Police say that attack killed nine and wounded 17, and left several shops and food stalls damaged.

It was followed by similar car bombs that struck the northwestern Tobchi district, killing eight and wounding 29, and Baiyaa in western Baghdad, killing thee and wounding 13, authorities said.

Another blast struck Zafaraniyah in southeastern Baghdad, killing six and wounding 15, officials said. Yet another exploded near a bakery in the New Baghdad neighborhood in the southeast, killing three people and wounding 11, authorities said.

Another car bomb exploded in a Shiite part of the religiously mixed western neighborhood of Shurta, a mainly Sunni area, killing four and wounded 12, authorities said.

Hours before the Baghdad blasts, gunmen in pickup trucks shot and killed the local leader of a local Sunni militia opposed to al-Qaida and two of his bodyguards near the city of Baqouba, 60 kilometers (35 miles) northeast of the Iraqi capital, according to police. Baqouba is the provincial capital of Diyala.

The official, Bassem Mahmoud, headed a Sunni group known as Sahwa, which joined the fight against al-Qaida during the height of Iraq war.

Police provided details of the attacks, while hospital officials confirmed the death tolls. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to media.

These attacks came only a day after a deadly bombing at a Sunni mosque in Diyala killed 22 people and wounded dozens.

Associated Press writers Adam Schreck and Qassim Abdul-Zahra contributed to this report.

does every Shia Muslim have to be seen as an "agent" of Iran? there are many Shia who disagree with the Islamic Republic, and even dislike its leaders.but because we are Shia and we are taught the morals of the Ahlul-bayt (as) we do not have to turned every disagreement into a fight and quarrel.we can disagree and differ with you without either criticizing you or fighting with you.we are not Wahhabis/salafists.

the Iranians were majority sunnis up to the 16th century.most of your sunni scholars from Bukhari to Muslim,Abu dawood, ibn majah,to tirmidhi are Persians (Iranians).yet no one hear a word that sunnis have Persian character or whatever accusation.accusing a Shia or having ties to iran or being an "Iranian agent" is like Christians accusing every muslim of being a promoter of "arab culture" and possibly a puppet of Saudi Arabia or the arabs.this is illogical and misleading.

That's really interesting. So instead of ascribing to Sunnism ( sorry never heard that before)is there a particular madhab or school of thought that they consider themselves? Do most people not distinguish themselves as one thing or another do they prefer to just say Muslim.
Sunnism= Sunni Islam.

when our ancestors became Muslims, they were simply told it is Islam they are following.the Sunni arabs who converted them never told them that what they brought was Sunni Islam, which is only one face of the coin.Sunnism was the official religion of the (sunni) caliphate and the Shia were persecuted.so while the middle east was divided, the official version was what was exported into West Africa and elsewhere.as for north Africa,it has a long and early history with Shia Islam.

I hope I'm not asking too many questions its just that I am fascinated about it all. BTW Are you Shi'i yourself?

apparently yes based on practice,or for the fact that the majority of Muslims in Nigeria are not Shia.but nominally no,the Sunnis are not more because the majority of Nigeria's Muslims (who practice Sunnism) do not actually know they are Sunnis.they are ignorant of their practices and beliefs which are peculiar to the Sunni sect.ask any Nigerian Muslim who isn't Shia whether he is Sunni, and he wouldn't know what is "Sunni",while he practices it. grin

Hassan Shehata then responded by saying that Aisha the WIVE of the Prophet (he LITERALLY ADDED THAT!) was a Fasiqah and criminal who hurted the Ahl Al-Bayt and unjustly killed Muslims, so may the curse of Allah be upon her/the wrath of Allah be upon her or the WRATH of Allah upon me (Shehata), if I am a liar.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=29PPYf0l3Wk

In fact, after the famous Mubahila, Shehata appeared on ‘FADAK TV’, the channel of the rabid Yasser Al-Habib. He reconfirmed all his slander and responded to some rumours that after the debate he was struck by cancer or other illnesses. He dismissed all these rumours as ‘lies of the Wahhabis and Sunnis’ and to confirm that there is nothing wrong with him he repeated his insults against the Sahaba and the Mother of The Believers Aaisha:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=29PPYf0l3Wk

whats the point of bringing up these? are you trying to question his character or what?

it is part of being Shia to dislike Aisha and certain companions.to the Shia, the so called hadith of the ten promised paradise is fabrication,as life is a continuous test till death.the concept of "saved" in this world is a Christian concept alien to Islamic belief, and particularly as expressed in this verse:

"[29:2] Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe," without being put to the test?"

are you justifying the killing of Sheikh Shahata because of his animosity to Aisha and some sahaba? that is the entire point of the incident and this thread.this man was killed because of his belief.the Shia dislike Aisha.the Shia do not believe in the just and unquestionable character and faith of all the companions without distinction as Sunnis do.if having certain beliefs promote the idea to be killed, then that is not part of Islam.

you can take a look at the below video to see what I am talking about (the confused/ridiculous Sunni position making all the companions beyond criticism) :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEc25Tys1_4

His own son (hamza Shehata) exposed him on air and mentioned how sick his father was and how (even whilst being a Sufi!)

he started cursing the Sahaba

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lwsudZHGUBM

there is no where the son stated that his father was ill in the link you provided.you can feel free to quote the words in Arabic if you think otherwise.

The botttomline is Shehata was wrong to repeatedly provoke and denigrate others, but only the govt. of ay country reserve the right to undertake executions of people only after they have been tried and sentenced, hence the mob must be brought to justice

Sheikh Shahata by Shia standards and morals,he was too aggressive in his methodology.regardless,he never called to harm any Sunni.his aggressive method or his conflicting views should not be excuse to kill him.the Christians say God "begot" a son,and the Quran describes that in Surat Mariam as something very heinous to say upon which the skies and the earth could tear asunder.however it is forbidden to kill the innocent soul based on differences in beliefs, claims or approach.

as for his son being Sunni while the father is Shia, there is no compulsion in religion.i have heard also that the son of chief Wahhabi/salafist Sheikh in the world,Yusuf al-Qaradawi,is Shia.also, you should remember that the Shia honor Muhammad (ra) Ibn Abu Bakr while they dislike his father, abu bakr who was the first sunni caliph.Muhammad (ra)Ibn Abu Bakr was a Shia/follower of Imam Ali (as) and he opposed his father.is that something wonderful too that you should take into consideration especially that abu bakr (your first sunni caliph) was his father?

please stick to the topic and stop derailing.if killing any soul for its beliefs is forbidden,no matter what this man said with his mouth (without harming anyone),he does not deserve to be killed by the salafist/Wahhabi terror-mongers.

The tyrannical regime of Iran and it's hezbo boys are stoking sectarian tension in the middle east by supporting and sponsoring murderers to roam Syria, the earlier they and other Govt. in ME realize that their games will lead to the calamity of them all, the sooner incidents like these will disappear! Unfortunately the rafidhi regime of Iran and it's Hezbo boys would not see reason and rather would side with oppressors who murder civilians and dame the backlash. at the end one hopes govt. across the ME would take proper precaution in preventing the needless death of minorities in their country and in cases where a police chief encourages murder of people who do not share similar ideology with them, the appropriate action in taken to deal with such rhetoric!

oh yeah, now its the fault of iran and hezbollah (because they support the popular and legitimate Syrian regime of assad against terrorists and foreign backed rebels) for salafist/Wahhabi vampirism and headchopping.there is no Hezbollah or iran supporting assad in Pakistan, but the salafist/Wahhabi terrorists (backed by the authoritarian, fascist, tyrannical and opressive Saudi Wahhabi regime) have committed a genocide in Pakistan against Shia Muslims.whats the excuse? there is no Christian group supporting assad in Nigeria, but your Wahhabi/salafist boko haram have committed massacres against innocent Christian worshippers and civilians.what is the excuse? the salafist/Wahhabi ideology is deadly,un-islamic,barbaric,monstrous,inhumane and silly, even if you want to cover for it because salafist/Wahhabi claim to associate with Sunni Islam.

you can condemn all you want and call Hezbollah and iran names.if the salafist/Wahhabis have an issue with Hezbollah and iran for supporting assad, they should (as men would do) face Hezbollah and iran in the battlefield in Syria, instead of killing civilians everywhere.in Hatlah (Syria),Shia civilians got their throats slit and the excuse was avenging the defeat the Hezbollah back Syrian army gave to the Wahhabi/salafist terrorists in qusayr.you are not only finding excuses for injustice and terror, but you are also supporting cowardice against civilians.your Wahhabi/salafist terrorists should not have abandoned Qusayr, and should have stood their ground to battle Hezbollah.why did they flee?

whatever you say, hezbollah have made it clear it will not allow takfiri salafist/Wahhabi groups-affiliated with alqaeda- to prevail in Syria, even if the US and the entire world of arrogance, disbelief, hypocrisy and terror are supporting the terrorists and the rebels against assad.as putin (pro-assad president of Russia) asked Cameron (british pm who supports terrorists in Syria) : are you supporting those who eat human organs? a video surfaced of a terrorist eating the heart of a Syrian soldier.

Iraq violence: Dozens killed in Baghdad bombingsAn Iraqi policeman stands guard at the site of a car bomb attack in Baghdad

A series of car bomb explosions in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, has killed more than 30 people, local officials say.

They say that dozens of people were injured in the blasts that targeted mainly Shia areas of the city.

No group has so far said it carried out the attacks.

There has recently been a surge in sectarian attacks across Iraq. Last month was the bloodiest since June 2008, with 1,045 civilians and security officials killed.

The deadliest attack on Monday was in Baghdad's western district of Jihad, where at least eight people died in twin car bomb blasts on a busy road.

At least five people were also killed in the central Karrada district.

Officials also reported deadly attacks in several other parts of the city.

Elsewhere, at least three people were killed in violence in the northern city of Mosul.

Tensions between Iraq's Shia Muslim majority, which leads the government, and minority Sunnis have been steadily growing since last year.

Sunnis have accused Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki of discriminating against them - a claim the government denies.

vedaxcool:
here is the chief of police in Iran calling for the murder of those who reject the clerical system of Iran, a man who is supposed to secure life and property. shocked

what a joker you are.

lets assume the reprt you're referring to is true.so a police chief warning against troublemakers, political dissidents and those wanting to spread strife against the regime is the same as salafist aka Wahhabi terrorists blowing up themselves in shia mosques and Christian churches and lynching people of different faiths? in authentic Sunni hadith: rising against the legitimate ruler equals to apostacy, and anyone who rise up against the legitimate muslim ruler should be killed.you are comparing a law enforcement official who works for a legal and official Iranian government institution to riff-raff salafist/Wahhabi terrorists who blow up themselves.how do you think O son of Aisha? if you support Sunni extremists (the salafists/Wahhabis) killing innocent people for believing what they believe in religion (not related to politics, crime or offense against the law) then say so without derailing the thread and covering your shame with silly arguments.

Shias are more dangerous than naked women: Salafist MPs

Nour Party MPs argue that Iranian tourism to Egypt threatens national security and will undermine the country's 'Sunni doctrine'

Ahram Online, Monday 13 May 2013

Members of the culture committee of Egypt's Shura Council discussed their concerns on Monday about the possibility of Iranian tourism to Egypt, with some expressing fears that it could spread Shiism in the country.

According to Ahram's Arabic news website, members of the committee called on Tourism Minister Hesham Zaazou to discuss the issue in the council, the country's upper house of parliament which is holding legislative powers until a house of representatives is elected.

The committee, headed by Fathy Shehab El-Din of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), engaged in a heated argument on the effects Iranian tourists could have on Egypt.

"The Shias are more dangerous than naked [women]," MP Tharwat Attallah of the Salafist Nour Party said during the meeting.

"They are a danger to Egypt's national security; Egyptians could be deceived into [converting to] Shiism, giving it a chance to spread in Egypt," he added.

Attallah also called upon the current ruling regime to limit Egypt's relationship with Iran, as the previous regime of ousted president Hosni Mubarak had done.

Similarly, MP Abd El-Galeil El-Qassem, also of the Nour Party, said that Shiism would undermine the "essence of religion and the [Sunni] doctrine."

He said that Egypt should put restrictions on Iranian tourism in Egypt because, according to him, Iranians aim to create strife in the country.

However, MP Yehia Abo El-Hassan from the Islamist Al-Wasat Party disagreed with their concerns, saying that "the countries that cut off relations with Iran are the US and Israel." He added that tourists only come to Egypt for a limited time.

The Salafist Call and the Nour Party, its political arm, held a conference in April against the spread of the Shia doctrine in Egypt.

The Salafists and several other Islamic groups have expressed their concerns recently at potential Iranian Shia influence in the country.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were cut following Tehran’s Islamic revolution in 1979, but relations have improved since the election of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in 2012. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Egypt in February 2013.

In April, more than 50 Iranians – the first official group of Iranians to visit Egypt for tourism in decades – arrived in Upper Egypt amid tight security. The visit came as part of a bilateral tourism agreement signed in February.

Rebels kill 60 Shia Muslims in Syria

As many as 60 Shia Muslim residents of a Syrian village in east of the country have been massacred by foreign-sponsored militants.

On Tuesday, the militants attacked the village of Hatlah in eastern Deir Ezzor province and took control of it and killed 60 Shia residents, AFP reported.

Nearly a dozen militants were also killed as a group of local residents took up arms to defend their village.

The insurgent attack and the subsequent violence forced the residents of the village to flee their homes.

The Syria crisis began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of government forces, have been killed.

Damascus says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

The Syrian government says the West and its regional allies, such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants.

In addition, several international human rights organizations say the militants operating in Syria have committed war crimes.

Iraq car bombs kill 15

AFPBy AFP | AFP – 3 hours ago

Three car bombs, including two blasts by suicide attackers, killed 15 people in Iraq on Friday, the latest in a spike in violence that has sparked fears of all-out sectarian war.

Two suicide car bombs struck a police checkpoint near Ramadi, the capital of mostly Sunni Anbar province, killing at least five policemen and wounding eight others, officials said.

And north of Baghdad, a parked vehicle rigged with explosives detonated in the restive town of Muqdadiyah, killing 10 Iranian pilgrims and wounded 30 others.

The blast occurred as the pilgrims' bus passed through the town en route from the Iranian border to the Shiite holy city of Najaf.

Najaf, which lies south of Baghdad, is home to a shrine to a revered figure (Imam Ali) in Shiite Islam.

Shiite Muslims visiting shrines and religious sites form the backbone of Iraq's tourism industry, with the vast majority of pilgrims coming from Iran.

When completing a tour of Iraq's key Shiite religious sites, pilgrims typically visit Najaf, nearby Karbala, Baghdad, and Samarra, the latter of which lies north of the capital.

Sunni militants, including those linked to Al-Qaeda, view Shiites as apostates and often target them. However, no group immediately claimed responsibility for Friday's bombing.

Attacks in Iraq have risen sharply, with May the deadliest month since 2008, as persistent political disputes have given fuel and room for militants to increase their activities.

There has been a heightened level of violence since the beginning of the year, coinciding with rising discontent among the Sunni Arab minority that erupted into protests in late December.

The UN envoy to Iraq has warned that the violence is "ready to explode".
