I live in beautiful southwest England but I order my smoked goat head, hard chicken, pomo, shin meat etc online. I envy those that can go to all this markets o. No shame in loving my food...Tesco only just started selling gari, beans and malt and Morrison okro and rodo...in the past they were not catering for the minority market so ....
Lets not over posh ourselves I shop at waitrose alot because they have high quality organic food but someone needs to cater for my ogiri needs and if loving my food makes me backward....oh well!

this aint even about poshing. all those things you mentioned ? i have stopped eating because of the inconvenience of it all. hey in tesco get meat, get canned tomato puree, get dry pepper, oil and fresh spinach. then get cornmeal or semolina. then get orange juice or ginger beer. what else do you need ? why do you feel like you need smoked goat head and pomo and shin meat and all the other stuff you mentioned ? all that is unnecessary. you eat to live, you dont live to eat.

buzugee: by good job i hope you mean anything over £100,000 per annum. anything less than that and you are struggling in the uk. you may have little disposable income but trust me you are not balling.

shyttt i was earning close to that once. first of all my agency opened up a limited company for me that i work through. then the agency uses an umbrella company that does the income. when the agency and umbrella company done steal my money finish, next is taxman. when you earn that much you are on a higher tax bracket. so tax man will rip you a new azzhole. then next is on these assignments i am all over britain and you pay your own hotel fees. when you are not at home you eat and drink more. etc etc. lets just say 100 grand has a way of turning to 0 grand easily. anything less than that, unless you are sending the money to naija, you aint balling oooooooo.

I have also seen business executives earning 15,000 per month struggling with debts from credit cards and store cards and won't even get a 30,000 loan due to commitments and expensive lifestyle. High risk clients even though their earning power is high.

So, much depends on your lifestyle.

To say one is cheaper than the other you must compare like with like
Makoko and VI are not the same neither are Peckham and Chelsea. If you travel to Nigeria from the UK and you want to stay in a decent hotel,use a mobile phone,internet,cable TV,buy a car electronics,buy comparable clothes,"provisions",go Nightclubbing etc you will find Nigeria several times more expensive. Petrol is cheaper but you will need to run a generator and if you fall sick you pay out of your pocket!!
Rent comparisons are meaningless because all the examples here are isolated are they the mean median or what?? Besides no one will ask you to pay FIVE YEARS
I believe taxis are more expensive if you compare like for like e.g AC taxi from Leeds to Heathrow £300 about 75000 probably distance of Lagos to Benin.
So, expensive depends on which specific products/service you consume as an individual.
we have different tastes/priorities.
Personally I think Nigeria ie Lagos and PH are more expensive

naija men and food as a whole. its a disturbing pattern i have noticed. especially if you go to nigerian restaurant in the uk. you see men sweating like runaway slaves while eating. beads of sweat forming all over their bald heads and foreheads and all over their body. then while chewing they simultaneously are wiping the beads of sweat with their hanky while using the other hand to loosen their belt. quite a hilarious sight really, and an ecstatic look on their faces as they chew naija too like food sef.

From what I understand 3 families come together to buy goat, now I don't know how much a live goat is in the UK but knowing a little about Econiomics, I can safely say the stores usually make ten times more than the original price of the goat.

So if these 3 familes decide to buy the goat and share it in three parts, it goes without saying that they will be getting infinitely more than what they would have gotten had they gone to a regular store.

How did this become something NOT to do?

Please what exactly is wrong in buying things in bulk?

And why must one forgo what they like to eat just because it is not sold in the "regular, more acceptable" stores?
