I blame the man for 2 reasons: 1. He is heartless. 2. He didn't argue his case well. The same way he kept silent before his wife, he also kept silent before the law. So, he paid for his silence by going to jail. |

Ratedgang:Believe it or leave it, that was a bribe. You are hoping to have him treat you well another day. Otherwise, I'd ask you, why give him money? Is it because he is jobless or crippled? There are people who need your charity more than a police officer who is already paid from our common wallet to do his job. |
Tookool:The millions may not be assured which is why I said "could have". However, as for whether it's a national treasure, I say, yes. It's in Africa that wildlife is not valued. |
Simplyleo:Oga, patrol van is not for Hauling foodstuff. There should be another vehicle for that. You're saying this because we've lost every sense of decency in Nigeria. Wrong things now look right. |

A man from Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State killed a bird known as peregrine falcon and, after close observation, he discovered that the bird must have flown all the way from Finland as it has a ring around its ankle with an inscription that reads; "Museum 200L Helsinki, Finland". Apart from the fact that this is against wild life preservation (which is a crime), this guy could have made millions of dollars by delivering this bird to the Embassy of Finland. Please, Nigerians, let's reduce our tendency to kill animals any how. These animals want to live just like you. Honestly, I'm weeping. Former President Goodluck Jonathan says pictures of his mock coffin displayed in the media during the anti-fuel subsidy removal protests of 2012 traumatised his aged mother who had lost eight children. Jonathan said this in his recently published book titled, My Transition Hours. The former President said, “The protests continued unabated. In all of these, one woman I pitied most was my aged mother who was with me in the State House.Jonathan said during the protests, several notable Nigerians visited him, asking him to reverse the increment in the pump price of petrol. Some of the prominent Nigerians who visited him include: General-Overseer, Living Faith Mission (Winners Chapel) Bishop David Oyedepo; Primate of the Anglican Church, Rt.Rev Nichola Okoh and eight other clerics. He said what was more disheartening was the fact that the opposition in Lagos had hijacked the protests. Jonathan added that even the Nigeria Labour Congress which had been briefed on the matter before the subsidy removal was announced was co-opted into joining the protests. The former President added, “In Lagos State for instance, it was like a carnival. Musicians, comedians and other celebrities were engaged by opposition elements to join the protests. Refreshments were served to protesters.See Also:THE TOP 10 CLEANEST CITIES IN AFRICA, 2020 (Unbelievable Photos and Vids) Jonathan further stated that the House of Representatives, which was led by pro-opposition Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, decided to exploit the situation. He said the House accused him of fleeing the country in a bid to exploit the situation for political gain. “The House of Representatives whose Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, was hobnobbing with the opposition (he eventually defected to the opposition) did not help matters.Lifted from Joe Chidolue Udodigbo's Facebook wall

One of the greatest burdens any country's economy can suffer is a backlog of debts. Servicing those debts keeps weighing on the economy, making it difficult to achieve economic milestones. When Obasanjo was Nigeria's President between 1999 and 2007, one of his biggest achievements was that he, with the help of Dr. Ngọzi Okonjo-Iweala, made sure that Nigeria became debt-free. That was responsible for the speedy development experienced by the Nigerian economy between 2002 and 2014. The Jonathan administration crowned it all by getting Nigeria to overtake South Africa for the first time as the fastest growing economy in Africa in spite of the adverse effects of Boko Haram which was essentially North's style of attacking Jonathan's Government. At last, they succeeded in using violence to boot Jonathan out of Aso Rock. Since this Buhari Government took over, Nigeria has lost all the positive economic indices built under the 3 PDP Governments that preceded it. For instance, Nigeria has fallen off the MINT nations. Again, Nigeria's debt-to-GDP ratio has continued to widen. The problem is not that the Buhari Government is a serial borrower. It's rather that we are not seeing serial development that's proportionate with the debts. So, where is most of the borrowed fund going to? Surely, it's partly going into private accounts and projects and partly into developing Niger Republic and indirect sponsorship of terrorist cells like MACBAN and Boko Haram (yes, I've said it and I stand by it. If you want my phone number I'll give it to you). So, what has all these to do with the APC governors' visit to Goodluck Jonathan? This is it: They have plundered the economy and have mortgaged its future by borrowing and stealing the fund. Now, they are looking for those to inherit the mess, so that they will have the joy of blaming them (as they're known to do). They're asking Jonathan to join their party and contest for president in 2023. What they told Jonathan is that they need him to restore the country's unity. But that's a lie. The Nigerian economy is now on a precipice. In a year's time, the Naira will be exchanging at no less than N1,000 per dollar even as our oil economy is running ever low. I really pity the next administration of Nigeria's Federal Government because they will have nothing to fall back on. The situation is so dire that even the North might support an Igbo to become the next president in case Jonathan refuses (he told the delegation to give him time to think about it). The reason why someone like Dave Umahi joined APC is also not far from this. I'll be right back with part 2 of this revelation because this is getting too long.

RenaissanceGuy:Yes, this thread is about Buhari and others. See how: There are two classes of coup plotters. 1. Those who overthrew a democratically elected government. 2. Those who overthrew another military junta. Those in group 1 are much much more guilty of a crime against the state than those in group 2 because they overthrew the will of the people. In fact, those in group 2 are almost guiltless when compared with those in group 1. Now, Buhari is in group 1 and he is the only coup leader in group 1 still (supposedly) alive. So, yes, it is about Buhari, mainly, and others. Do you have any issue with this? Cc: Agbegbaorogboye |
DMerciful:It's not the job of the President or even the Parliament. We're the ones who should push for it. |

DMerciful:Don't you see how everyone is avoiding this thread? But the same people who will not promote this viewpoint will be all over the place whining like babies about bad leaders. I used a former Nairaland account I had in 2014 to raise the same issue to see if people would support it and probably use it to stop Buhari from emerging in 2015. They ignored it the way they just did. Now, they are crying. Sorry to say, but Nigerians deserve Buhari and his like. Yes, I agree with you that IBB is not half as guilty as Buhari when it comes to this issue. |

It is a crime of no mean degree for any individual to overthrow the constitution/democratically elected government of any country. But, in Nigeria, we worship those who did that instead. Ex-coupists like Buhari and IBB should be hanged (or, at least, be in jail) instead of attending council of state meetings. Even worse, the masses validate them: See how Buhari has cult following. Today, I saw an article by a foremost newspaper calling IBB 'military president'. Our mumu in Nigeria no be here. |
Food items are very costly now. But there is a secret people are using to get food cheaper. It is a channel that connects farmers (such as this onion farmer here) directly with consumers to sell their farm-fresh produce without the middlemen who hoard the items and raise food costs sometimes unnecessarily. This way, the farmers sell higher and faster while the consumers buy cheaper and yet fresher. For instance, if you are buying a Painter of garri at N1,000, the farmer must have sold it at N400. Middleman A bought it and sold it to middleman B at 600. Middleman B sold to middleman C (the retailer) at N800. Then, the retailer sells to YOU at N1,000. But, you could have bought it directly at N500 instead, paying less and making the farmer earn more for his efforts. Not only does the existence of middlemen add a lot to the cost of food but they can also affect your health. This is how: Many of the middlemen store the food items away in warehouses, waiting for a time to sell at higher prices. During this period, the food does not only get dirtier (through stuffs like rat droppings), they also lose nutrient. So, the benefit of buying farm-fresh food via this network is very high. I don't know if the admins would allow me to share the link to the channel on this post. But, to be safer, if you are interested in the link, just indicate and I will reply to you. MEANWHILE, how much do you think this guy can make from this onion heap here? NOTE: We also use the platform to educate the farmers and buyers on a wide range of topics such as healthy handling of food items (like telling this one here not to sit on the onions). Thanks.

donphilopus:My problem with the story (and the prayer) is the callous uncharitable attitude it is promoting. There is nothing wrong with asking for unmerited favor. But I believe that, even God would expect you to be sorry even if he lets you have what should have been another's. Jacob did it, after taking Esau's birthright. |
About 3 hours ago, Pastor Adeboye of Redeemed Christian Church of God posted this story with a prayer that ended it. No matter the fame of any pastor, Prophet, Reverend or whoever, the standard of Jesus Christ remains paramount for Christians. So, I honestly don't think that Jesus Christ would have supported the lesson from the story and the accompanying prayer. However, let me hear from other Christians here. Years ago, I think it was in 1956, I was living with my uncle who was poor but I was poorer. If he had anything, we shared and when there is nothing, there is nothing. There was this day we were very hungry and there was no way food could come at all. Suddenly, a young girl came and said, “My sister said I should give you this pounded yam, vegetable and chicken.” My uncle said “I don’t know your sister. Are you sure”? The girl insisted so we took the food and my uncle said he would look for a gift to give her some other time and she left. |
Eagle is one of Nigeria's most important national symbols. Today, for the first time, I realized how much meaning we should attach to that as a people. A Facebook user identified as Rose Onah shared a post entitled "SIX SUCCESS PRINCIPLES TO LEARN FROM AN EAGLE". After looking at the POWERFUL LESSONS, I found myself growing up in 3 minutes more than I probably did in 30 years. Then, I imagined, "what if more Nigerians learn these lessons, how wonderful would that be?" (because, you know, communal change will always boil down to the cumulative of individual changes in a community). So, here are the 6 lessons as I have adapted them for Nigerians: 1. EAGLES FLY ALONE AND AT HIGH ALTITUDES - They don't fly with sparrows, ravens, and other small birds. MEANING - Stay away from narrow-minded people, those that bring you down. Eagle flies with Eagles. Keep good company. For instance, if you are a tribal or religious bigot, you can very hardly ever make any impact beyond your tribe or religion. You can't be a Nairaland or Facebook founder. 2. THE POWER OF FOCUS - Eagles have the ability to focus on something as far as 5km away. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it. MEANING - Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacles and you will succeed. Imagine that a sizeable number of Nigerian young people had this quality, We could become resolute enough not only to turn around our personal fortunes but also to lead the national economy. Today, the Silicon Valley tech gurus are leading not only the American economy but also the world. They are all young people. 3. EAGLES DO NOT EAT DEAD THINGS - They feed only on fresh prey. MEANING - Do not rely on your past success, keep looking for new frontiers to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past. We should learn to do this both as individuals and consequently as a nation. 4. EAGLES LOVE THE STORM - When clouds gather, the eagle gets excited, the eagle uses the storm's wind to lift itself higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagle uses the raging storm to lift itself above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the branches and leaves of the tree. MEANING - Face your challenges head on knowing that these will make you emerge stronger and better than you were. We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid of challenges, rather they relish them and use them profitably. 5. THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING - They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young ones get uncomfortable in preparation for flying and eventually flies/ when it becomes unbearable to stay in the nest. MEANING - Leave your Comfort Zone, there is No Growth there. 6. THE EAGLE REINVENTS ITSELF - When it gets old, the eagle's feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast and as high as it should. This makes him weak and could make him die. So he retires to a place far away in the mountains. While there, he plucks out the weak feathers on his body and breaks its beaks and claws against the rocks until he is completely bare; a very bloody and painful process. Then he stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, new beaks, and claws and then he comes out flying higher than before. MEANING - We occasionally need to shed off old habit no matter how difficult, things that burden us or add no value to our lives should be let go of. Final secret: (whisper) If you read to this point, you are a wonder waiting to happen. |
oyatz:I don't understand you sir. |
