Ten governors gather in Lagos; intensify moves against Jonathan, PDP

Ten governors of the opposition political parties today endorsed the proposed merger plans of their parties.

The need to urgently rescue Nigeria from teetering into the abyss was the crux of an emergency meeting among some governors in the country.

The governors, who met for four hours at the Lagos House, Marina, said the merger is necessary so as to steer the ship of the country from running aground.

Rising from the meeting, the governors in a communique entitled: ‘We Endorse a Merge to Rescue Nigeria,’ endorsed and read by the governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, said the governors resolved that to rescue the country is a task that must be done.

The ten governors, who met at the State House Marina, include Babatunde Raji Fashola (Lagos); Rauf Aregbesola (Osun);
Senator Isiaq Ajimobi (Oyo); Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun); Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti).

Other governors were Owelle Rochas Okorocha (Imo); Alhaji AbdulAzeez Yari (Zamfara); Alhaji Tanko Almukura (Nassarawa); while Yobe State Governor was represented by Senator Dejere Alkali.

Five of the governors are of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), one from All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), one from (CPC) and three from All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

Besides, the governors represent three four out of the six geo-political zones of the country – South-West, South-East, North-West and North-East.

According to the Governors Rauf Aregbesola, Fashola, Ajimobi, Amosun and Fayemi, as progressive and patriotic leaders of the people across party, religious and their respective geo-political zones, they are extremely concerned about the state of the nation.

In his remarks, Owelle Okorocha of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, disclosed that the merger becomes necessary to ‘save Nigeria of the likelihood of being turned into one party state.’

He disclosed that the rescue mission, which is a necessity given the present state of things in the country, will help Nigeria get better.

Answering question from news men after the rescue parley, Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Yari, said the proposed merger of the ACN, ANPP, CPC and APGA will tell Nigerians that PDP has done less for them by performing abysmally.

He said Nigerians needed to be asked if they are happy and satisfied with the style of governance of the ruling party.

Seriously what good can come out of the conglomerates of proven toll-collecting, drug pushing, fraud perpetuating, Boko Haram nominated, terrorism sympathizing, Losers incorporated, regionally accented group of failing politicians who ran out of options. PDP is a national party, and have the biggest command of respect. With improved electricity for the masses, Glorified Airports for the middle class, and tax cuts for the upper class, UnderDogs stand no chance. By the way, the name of the New Group is called UNDERDOGS CONGLOMERATE OF THE GREEDY, UCG Party.

igbsam: I foresee trouble days ahead and it will be as a result of which group takes so so and so slots. Right now it might look so good. But Nigerians are always greedy. One party would want to rule over the other. Take for instance. ACN would claim they are the bigger part of the joined parties with a contending CPC claiming that too. APGA definately is the baby and lowest rank of the group, so they would settle for less. But its a good thing sha they merged. I hope they all agreed and signed a written agreement so tomorrow, ACN faction no go talk say na dem go bring out presidential candidate and CPC would oblige.
What does CPC have that will make them contest with ACN and how arte they bigger than APGA that has two governors and house of assembly members. Does CPC have any governor?

This is a good development for democracy, the merger is only a means to a conceive end, not the end in itself. PDP better shape in or face the public wrath at the poll in 2015.

I'll rather sit on the fence to see how things will pan out at the end of the day, some of these opposition members claims opposition in the day time and PDP in the night.

I just hope this is not the beginning of the end to the proposed merger.

GenBuhari: Assuming Buhari is head of the new party?

They need to get straight to work!

They need to immediately pencil a new bill to reduce the cost of government. immediate 80% reduction in in salaries of reps and senators both on federal and state levels, a cap to amount of expenses that could be claimed.

I expect Buhari to be behind the scene and not head anything for now. A younger and high profiled person should head the party not even Tinubu.

Buhari CAN NEVER be the new head of the party, it's time for him to take a back seat. If Buhari emerges as the head and or candidate, the party is DOA

Shut the mess up. If not Buhari, who else?

Buhari is the man that will lead the opposition in 2015 - with him, we can easily get the entire northern vote without tears and no way for PDP to break it.

With ACN in SW and producing the VP, the entire SW block is sure.

SE is not needed because they will once again vote for Jonathan, the pdp. SW will nuetralize the votes coming from SE/SS - it will be very interesting.

No you shut your fuctardious mouth, dumb fvck

Well, if Buhari emerges, whether you like it or not, the people are no fools... Woe betide people who votes for a man who has promised Baboons and Dogs soaked in blood... Same way he failed, he will fail again. The party whether merged or not will not determine outcome of votes.

Who care's about SW producing VP? Isn't that what you're good for? Playing second fiddle, just like he has lost before and before, he will continue to loose over and over again till your merged party produces a better worthy candidate.

Yes o, when the time comes, we shall indeed see how the votes count. Isn't it the same SW you claim that Igbos are running into? In that same north, Igbos are saturated? I'm laughing hard o....LOL

ACN, CPC, ANPP and APGA merge. PDP dislikes.

To be serious, I think Nigerians should try something new.

Its not enough to just merge multiple parties. Let there be sincere intentions and honest compromises to rid Nigeria and the world of PDP. So sick and tired of PDP, just when you think they can't sink any lower they surprise you with another stinker. angry

Meanwhile the senseless argument going on here had better not be a true reflection of the union of the parties! lipsrsealed
