I can be corrected if am wrong but can someone tell us which of the various committees set up by the present government has had its mission accomplished and that has added value to the lives of Nigerians. Tinubu is always in opposition and so am not taken aback by his views about National Conference, he double speaks like his people. No region has called for SNC like the Yorubas and now GEJ shares same view that we need to dialogue and ask ourselves some critical questions and now same people are finding faults with that. They once said Federal Government must recognise Abiola as a pillar of democracy, last year GEJ the very first president after Abacha, Abubakar, Obasanjo and Yar' Adua to listen to this hue and cry, renamed UNILAG to Moshood Abiola University, same ACN clique criticised him for renaming such a "monument" as UNILAG after one of their own! For an average Niger Delta man like me, National Conference would afford us opportunity to ask other regions why Bayelsa that contributes close to a trillion annually from crude oil to our revenue has only 8 LGAs whereas Borno, Yobe and Gombe etc all have average of 25 LGAs. It would afford us opportunity to ask why the revenue sharing formular shouldn't recognise 50percent derivation from any resource found in a state as it was in the 60s? It would make an Iboman ask the question as to why all other regions have 6 or 7 states whereas theirs is only 5. He might want to find out whether 40% of Lagos population which is Ibo, 30% of Kano which is Ibo, 35% of FCT which is Ibo are counted as Ibo in National Census figures or classified as belonging to where they re found. It would also make him find out whether 71 % of Abuja property which according to El rufai belongs to Ibo is not enough to earn them seat in FCT administration. It would afford Yorubas opportunity to ask why Kano is always more populated than Lagos state in paper even after old Kano was broken into about 3 states. It would afford an Adisa from Kwara, Audu an Igala man from Kogi, An Ebiraman called Abu, A Tiv Tser from Benue, a man from Plateau Dunglong, A Taraba man and an Aloko from Nasarawa the opportunity to ask when the Northern minorities that make up North central would produce a president. We have issues to discuss. The real enemies of Nigeria are those who oppose NC. 5 Likes |

PLS. Recall that Mr. Jonathan had once stated that there was no need for Sovereign National Conference because the nation’s sovereignty lies with the national assembly..... DOES STILL MEAN THE LATTER that it cannot be sovereign? IF YES, the dialogue is truly diversionary. |

gudugudumeje: PLS. Recall that Mr. Jonathan had once stated that there was no need for Sovereign National Conference because the nation’s sovereignty lies with the national assembly..... DOES STILL MEAN THE LATTER that it cannot be sovereign? IF YES, the dialogue is truly diversionary. There's absolutely nothing wrong in a man retracing his steps after realizing his mistakes, the ARROGANT will not do that but the HUMBLE has it in his DNA. GEJ has his many faults and I have lashed at him many times but I also acknowledge his good decisions. You cannot beat a child for both good and bad decisions, only the insane would do that. Say whatever you like, this National Conference is the REAL DEAL. I have prayed for it many many years and every head of state/president b4 now turned it down with the help of some core northern elders. Sovereign or not, at least we will all get to know the hidden thoughts of the different groups and then take things from there; knowledge is power and this is progress, only the deep will see it! 4 Likes |

lygn19: What Do They Want? Do they want True Federalism? NO! Do they want Biometric census to ascertain our real population? NO! Do they want LG Autonomy? NO! Do they want SNC? NO! Do they want PIB to be passed? NO! Do they want equal states to all the Geopolitical zones? NO! Do they want State Police as it's obtainable in developed nations? NO! Do they want equal cut-off points for Common Entrance & JAMB? NO! Do they want Nigeria to be peacefully partitioned to end this bloodbath? NO! Who are these people? The Hausa/ Fulani Muslims! What do they really want? They want Girl-Child marriage! They want an Islamic Nigeria! They want to have the exclusive right to rule Nigeria or dictate who rules! They want a united Nigeria, yet they're slaughtering people in their region! They want ONE NIGERIA, yet they're Quota system and Federal character advocates. They want to make Nigeria ungovernable because the President is not from their region. Now you know that the South & North cannot agree on basic policies...this is one of the reasons, Nigeria is in this state of confusion and mess! But what surprises me is how Tinubu is selling yorubas to the Boko Haram, North !!! 1000 gazillion likes!! Tinubu, biko use your newly improved knee take learn how to dance Skelewu..that should keep you busy till after 2015 general elections. Inconsistent in ALL your ways |

Tinubu like every other Nigerian is just exercising his freedom of speech of the fundamental human rights to talk on national issues the ways best known to him. Let it be known that many Nigerians have patiently waited for the conference, therefore no one should be gullible to be brainwashed by some notable people who say both yes and no on the same matter at different times. We have longed for this dialogue and while it is being delayed people that could not understand reasons for their existence and define a role to play for progress of a United Nigeria have continued to show that Nigeria was never formed but merged. As regards the time of convening the conference, it is the best time, when negative actions are full to justify a positive reaction. With Sentiments removed, if you sample opinion votes from SW , SS, and SS whether yes or no for the conference, the call for YES is a voice of the majority. I would advise Tinubu to stop playing politics, this is a serious issues we must all embrace and impart diligently for its success. Kudos to Mr President for his readiness, he should not influence the outcomes against our collective interests. Also the report should not be swept under the carpet this time around. The critics should please wait for the report and resolution, because they are yet to be needed. When the report comes out they have ample opportunities to analyse it and present their recommendations. Pls let all pray for its success, SNC has come to stay. |

Without doubt, this country is known for not implementing policies and recommendations, though I'm in support of the SNC,however, this is a ploy to waste tax~payers' money except proved otherwise. I have a soft spot for GEJ,but the man has to buckle up,sit tight and be 'in charge'. God Bless Nigeria |

"i think we will talk about it (national conference) when we have a man of integrity , strong character and goodwill in charge of this country". MY QUESTION IS , WHO IS THIS MAN? Hope not Buhari, the BOHARAMIST, THE JIHADIST? If it is him you have in mine, Mr labajan, sorry, you have failed even before you started. |

[quote author=payless] This is not only about timing. Jonathan is a deceptive human being. He is trying to get NC/SNC in motion but it is all ruse. If Jonathan ever win re-election, that is where the NC/SNC brouhaha ends. [/ when your president is a scrupuless pathological liar-you know you have a national problem. |

mamiel: Tinubu has the right to question the timing of SNC, and good to know he thinks it is a necessity though, plus acknowledging that it has to be thorough when it is conducted. But I believe that at the level at which we are divided right now, any president sitting at the helm this moment won't be out of place in proposing it NOW. The obvious fact now is that the possibility of an elections are threatened by bitterness and anger of almost all stakeholders, and one begins to imagine the possibility of individual groups stockpiling weapons in secret. I mean, if I was blindfolded at the inception of a business partnership for as long as a hundred years and suddenly my sight was restored to discover that I have been cheated all along in the business, of course I wouldn't want to carry on with the business until issues are made straight. Asking that the election comes first is like saying lets do one more deal before we reset the partnership agreement. Boko Haram suddenly came up recently and said all of 'NIGERIA' must be islamize. Well Lugard, Clifford and co did not mention that in 1914. Plus, the entire structure is so messed up NOW more than ever. If it falls apart will there a Nigeria to conduct an election in 2015? Talking about 15 months being too short, I don't think we will be starting from ground zero, I think it's aimed at fixing the structure. What better way to say it...bravo man. |

If Gej is sincere then there's nothing wrong with us having a national conference 'cos its better we talk before the EXPIRY DATE to avoid a likely 2015 time-bomb. I hope our politicians will support this laudable cause than haggle 'cos of their quest for power at the centre. |
