Ok thanks.

Not bad for a 3.5L.v6 but since you're coming from Corolla you would definitely feel the impact[/quote]

Good evening Lexus community members, my 2007 ES350 selects only gear 1&2 mostly, but could also behave well sometimes. What could be the problem?
Two different gearbox specialist said the fiber is burnt, one suggested I change gearbox and one said he will fix the fiber issue for me, that he has mastered everything about the fiber.
What do you guys think I should do and any idea of the current price of the gearbox

Weight your options well. Personally, I'd go with the change of transmission.

Honestly, it depends on what the guy is looking for. I'm not really a fan of how the RX drives.

Sure it will be more reliable. Luxury of both cars are about par, I'd say, depending on trim levels. Design also. The ML drives considerably better, though.

By reliable, you mean RX will have a better maintenance than ML?

Hi Lexus club.
I needed mobility and settled for a 99|2000 Lexus rx300 in January.
Then I packed her for 3months and in Oct 15 started to use her again.
It's being a month of driving long distance everyday for the past one month and I have gased her a total of 50 to 60k.
I find this very ridiculous and to think I dare not use my AC otherwise I would pay maybe twice that for gas.

Anyway long story short, she's up for sale. I want to settle for a Corolla.

Also anyone knows if this gas gulping possession of the rx300 can be tammed? It's so unfair on me, no AC Usage yet I pay so much for gas.

You bought a lemon RX300, I bet you didn't hire a highly competent technician to carry out pre purchase inspection or your mechanic did some wrong works. By gas I presume you mean petrol, well, even a V8 GX470 won't consume that much amount for petrol except you did extensive road trips for the whole month.

Hi good morning, what do you mean a lemon rx300?
I bought it direct from a car sales yard (tokunbo).
I drive to and from my workplace everyday for the past one month (from home to work is 30 to 35mins drive on a free way), some days I make this trips thrice in a day and some days once and sometimes twice.
But I still find its gas gulping very outrageous.

Do you find this normal?

You failed to inform me if you carried out a pre-purchase inspection, I repeat that RX300 won't take up to such amount for fuel in 1 month doing 35min trip at 120km/h if she is okay. I can bet you, that car has some faults in it. I've driven my aunt's RX300 (now disposed) for some times in the past, I had it for 3months when she travelled and I would do a daily commute between Kubwa and Apo, or Kubwa and Airport, for a month it only took 35,000 naira.

To be honest I had no professional inspection upon purchase.
Everything was sparkly and still is, no single visible fault, engine is a beast but the consumption is shocking to me.

I have never done 100 on that car... On busy morning during school hour rush I certainly couldn't speed anywhere... After school hours I could do 60 to 80 for 10mins of the 35mins trip, then the remainder 25mins is a bumpy ride all through.

Then kingreign is right, your fuel consumotion is a little bit on the high side. Even though there a lot of variables, I was able to estimate your usage to 18mpg.

You should get it into a shop for checks before you pull the plug

18mpg is normal for that Lexus. He should tell us the actual miles he travels daily

Highway mileage in that Lexus ought to be anywhere around 20-23mpg. Now, factoring wear and tear and SAE newer testing criteria, 20-22mpg assuming all was well with that Lexus.

Thirty minutes is not an indication of distance driven. There is little we can do with such information. You can do it ten times a day, it doesn't still tell us the distance.
Now fill up your tank, zero your trip meter either A or B (your Lexus should have that), drive till your fuel reaches empty(amber light comes on). Refill your tank again. Check how many liters it took to fill up. Divide distance driven by the number of liters it took to fill your tank. Come back and we will can tell you whether your fuel consumption is good or not. It's an SUV. Do not expect it to give you the mileage of a corolla. Even a corolla driven in Ajao estate will get terrible fuel economy because of the very short distance it covers daily in a very long time. Ajao traffic na die. cheesy

Hello house. Does anyone know a competent and honest Lexus mechanic in the Lekki axis? I intend to buy a toks soon and will need to do a diagnostic scan and fix any issues that may be found. Thanks
