experimentist: It was in Ghana in 2010 when I went to visit a friend somewhere in Accra. One morning we woke up and decided to prepare a cat-fish pepper soup. Me and my friend decided to hit the market so we can buy the fish and some other ingredients. In no time we got to the market where one very black dude was selling the fish. I asked the dude a simple question "bros you get cat fish?" I said looking at d busy guy. Before you know this guy started cutting some other types of fishes. I concluded he was cutting them for other customers. As soon as he's done cutting em he handed em over to me.. I was like "wetin be dis? I asked wether you get CAT fish?" He looked at me and I said in Ghana accent "I thought you said I should cut('cut" was pronounced as 'CAT') it. I said "no, I didn't say u should cut it, I said I want cat fish) I couldn't help it I laughed my ass all the way home..OMG! The moderator that brought this to the FP is a hopeless, senseless, tasteless, lifeless & humourless goat. Last Bullet: Op, you thought this is so funny to be posted online. Chai! Smh for you. You don't v a tangible thing to think about (Apo ironu e ti faya). 1 Like |

LOOOOL the "debates" if I may say are funnier than the joke ! Anyways, PERSONALLY, the Ghanaian accent is EASIER for me to understand when compared to the Nigerian accent. This is coming from someone who has neither of these accents. It doesn't mean the Ghanaian accent is better, it's just more well pronounced. BTW, I'm Nigerian 3 Likes |

I just dey laugh ooo the pot calling the kettle black, huh? Nigerians know the Ghanaian accent is better, they'll just never admit it The OP is suffering from hallucinatory aria pronouncing cut as per cat is closer to the correct pronunciation than kut or kout as a nigerian would say it nigerian accent smells like a fvcking cat piss https://www.nairaland.com/481921/most-annoying-nigerian accent https://www.nairaland.com/673608/nigerian-accent-killing-opportunities-usa fake accent, gbegri accent https://www.nairaland.com/1336823/nigerians-fake-accentfuckeduppedness just watch a Nigerian TV station and see how newscasters and even announcers fake accents. All of them- NTA, AIT, Channels etc are all the same It is as if they are competing to know who will fake accent the most It shows deep down most Nigerians know their accent is horrible and are simply not proud of their accent. why would they fake one if they are proud of what they have? whack a con |

Re: Cat Fish: My Funny Experience With A Ghanian Guy by soulglo: 9:09pm On Dec 12, 2013 |
I love GH: Cut and cat are absolutely not pronounced the same. Even within English speaking populations those words would be pronounced differently. Rather than just take the joke for what it is and the fact that some English speaking Ghanaian's pronounce the both words similarly you decide to spin it. There are a million accents around the world. In Ghana you guys happen to pronounce cut like cat or breda as brother. Big deal. Does not mean that the average English person walks into a grocery store and asks for "cut fish". That's just ridiculous. |

common sense should hav apprised the retailer that the buyer meant ''CAT'' not 'CUT'' it's redundant to correlate ''get'' and ''cut'' side by side in that sentence. You 'get' 'cut' fish? As a rhetorical sentence doesnt make any sense. meanwhile, only peeps wit hidden sagacity n intelligence wld understand wat i mean! |
