There is nothing doctored in it. It is as clear as crystal. Jn19:25 actually called that mary "his mother's sister". See Matt 27:56. This makes those people Jesus cousins, little wonder they were referred to as his brothers in the passage you read, as they would have done in my own language.

Mary does not pray to the Almighty Father for Catholics,she intercedes before her son for us.The Son(Jesus) intercedes before the father for all men. Just as you tell your pastors to pray to Jesus for you,we tell her to pray for us.
