It's annoying when people cry about being fat like its a disease not just a disease but like its one with no cure if you are depressed because ur fat..... why don't you work on losing it? It's not impossible ..it takes a lot of work. Do research online and you'll see obese people become skinny through hard work.... the problem is fat people are mostly too lazy..they'll rather relax and eat some more...then get depressed when people call them fat If you are fat and you have no problem with being fat, good for you.... these are the jolly ones... we all don't have to be skinny, but if you're depressed about it...lose the weight 4 Likes |

MizMyColi:mitchew, how long do the chubby ones stay at their peak. Most get ugly after first child birth and the stretch marks does not help matters. Take a slim fresh girl over a chubby one in a long-term relationship because a chubby always have a high possibility of getting over weight. Just a matter of time 1 Like |

Step off the scales: New study says overweight people live longer Published time: January 02, 2013 19:39 A new year has begun, and resolution-makers around the world are vowing to lose weight and get healthy. But a surprising new study says that being overweight leads to a longer life – providing encouraging news for food lovers everywhere. The report, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), is the largest and most comprehensive review of how weight can influence a person’s lifespan. The study consisted of a review of more than 100 past studies covering 2.88 million people and 270,000 deaths worldwide. The previous studies broke down death risk, as related to BMI categories set by the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the parameters, normal weight is considered to be between 18.5 and 24.9 body mass index (BMI), while overweight is defined by having a BMI between 25 and 29.9. Anyone with a BMI over 30 is considered obese. Body Mass Index (BMI) explained: BMI categories are based on the relationship between body weight and height, and can be calculated by using the following formula: [weight (in pounds) / height (in inches) x height (in inches)] x 703. Individuals with a BMI less than 18.5 are considered underweight. A BMI in the range of 18.5 to 25 indicates a healthy weight, while a BMI of 25 to 30 identifies overweight individuals. Those with a BMI over 30 are considered obese. For example, a person who is 5 feet 4 inches tall would have a healthy BMI if they weighed between 108 and 145 pounds. They would be overweight if they weighed 146 to 174 pounds, and obese if they weighed more than that. Source: World Health Organization, CNN.com The study examined how long people lived, how healthy they were when they died, or how they rated their quality of life. Results showed that overweight people were six per cent less likely to die during the average study period. Mildly obese people had a five per cent lower rate of premature death. The research showed that men and women hold an equal advantage when it comes to being overweight, and that the conclusion was not affected by age, smoking status, or region. It’s not the first time that researchers have suggested that being overweight may have its benefits. A similar conclusion was found in 2005, but was met with skeptical responses. "We published an article in 2005 that showed, among other things, that [being] overweight was associated with lower mortality – and we got an awful lot of negative feedback from that," Katherine Flegal, a senior research scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the study’s lead author, told Time. The previous article was dismissed as “rubbish” by many academics, but Flegal maintained her position, choosing to conduct further research and bring attention to the findings. "It is not an unusual finding. But authors tend to shy away from it. They tend to underplay it or try to explain it away," she told The Independent. But according to Flegal, the findings are not a license to run to the donut shop. "We were only looking at mortality – not health. We are absolutely not recommending people overeat. We intended our research to give a little perspective – to counter the view that if you weigh a bit less you will live forever or if you weigh more you are doomed. The relationship between fat and mortality is more complicated than we tend to think,” she said. Although the results are surprising to those who strive to maintain a healthy BMI, the study did confirm previous findings which showed that obese people die earlier than those of a normal weight. Why would overweight people have a longevity advantage? Flegal and her colleagues suggest that overweight people may receive better medical care, because they either show symptoms of disease earlier or are screened more regularly for weight-related chronic diseases. It may also be that the health risks of being overweight are declining as medicine advances. For instance, heart disease deaths have fallen as blood pressure and cholesterol treatments have improved. Some evidence suggests that overweight persons may have a better chance of survival during medical emergencies. Other possible explanations are that fat may protect the heart, and may help individuals to withstand periods of illness. The findings are more complicated than they appear, however, because the type of fat a person carries around is just as important as the amount of fat. For example, extra fat around the hips is considered to be healthy, while belly fat is thought to be more dangerous. This ought to shut the haters up 4 Likes |

Having been on both ends of the scales: skinny with ribs sticking out (teen years) and my current size (size 20, stats 45-40-48), I can say a lot about size matters. My dears, it's an issue when you're overweight because people's first impression of you is: lazy glutton. We are the cause of our social and romantic problems. Health: I've enrolled in the gym not cos I wanna lose weight but cos I began to feel lazy at some point. According to my mum, I used to "drag" myself about. But strangely enough, I added a bit of muscle, lost just a little fat, still weigh the same and feel much lighter than I used to. I run on the treadmill 1.5hrs three days a week. So it's good to be fit for health sake especially. Diet: Truth be told, the eating habits of some fat people can make you puke. Why drink 50cl Pepsi when you can drink water which is better? Why eat three rolls of fufu when you can eat noodles and veggies? The worst scenario is at eateries. It's only fat girls who buy ice cream in tubs. When I walk into an eatery, I'm terribly conscious of what I buy not because of people but because of me. I hardly even eat at these fast food places cos the snacks are loaded with crazy calories. I prefer to eat at places that serve actual meals; they're more expensive but healthier. And please stop eating after 7pm. Clothing: Now this is a big issue. Most of us fat ladies don't know just how to dress up. Why the hell would I squeeze myself into a Lycra dress and wear a pair of G-strings underneath? Just because a stick-thin girl wore it and looked good doesn't mean you'll look good as well. Clothes made with sturdy fabrics like cotton, gingham or denim sit better on a larger frame. They give structure. And one trick lots of fat ladies don't know is UNDERWEAR is key. I've always been a fan of corsets and maybe that's why my fat body has always had a certain shape to it all these years. Wear great underwear. Poise: Funny enough, I used to manage pageant models back in university days. I had a team and we basically trained the girls on everything about pageants. One snotty lekpa biyatch was looking down at me cos of my size. But boy, was she shocked to see me don a pair of 6 inch heels and catwalk! To all my fattybombom sisters, please practise walking sexy and smart until it becomes part of you. When you waddle it makes men think that you're pregnant. Character: It's better to have a beautiful heart than be beautiful. It takes a discerning mind to perceive a beautiful soul. Work on your character. Stop being judgmental. I know it's hard but it's do-able. I used to feel any man who talked to me was desperate or a user but when I changed that mentality I realized some men really don't mind you being fat. My cousin's sexy as hell model-thin wife told him to start using Viagra cos he wasn't performing to her standard (the biyatch was cheating). They say marrying a beautiful or handsome spouse is like cooking ofe owerri with your own pot in a public kitchen; people go wan stretch hand to taste am small. Marry someone with a good heart cos looks fade but good character stays forever. In general, just package yourself well and leave the rest for God. Don't be a slob; take your bath, use good toiletries not Ausa perfume, keep teeth white and breath fresh. Smile more cos life's good. Love yourself and others will love you. And please my fatabulous sisters, stop biyatching our slimmer sisters. And to our slimmer sisters, stop looking down on fat chicas. After all, if marriage material was based on only looks, no slim girl go dey single but as the case maybe na slim girls dey go marriage prayers more in my church. Haå=)) ª"haª=D "håªh=)). Cheers. komek: @OP and the pple who pity fat pple, were they fat from birth? Since the ansa is no, they will continue to face such problems as a result of there carelessness. Some pple want to eat anything they see in the name of eating healthy. Where is corn beef, where is can beans, where is fufu, where is Amala, where is burger, where is chocolate, where is this and where is that, everything inside there mouth. And later the person will expect me to start pitying them. Abeg fat pple shud just go and face the problem they created for themsefs. Your problem is far bigger dan d problem u think fat people av. 4 Likes |
