You described it as pretense dude, not me. I don't see it as pretense but rather as the guy doing his job as a public servant. Heck he may not even like the fact that he has to do so every now and then, but it's part of the requirements of the job he signed up for. I'm not pro-David Cameroon (apologies to Salomon Kalou  ) or pro-whatever-he-stands-for, I just don't agree with you that:Rossikk: The western leaders are no less removed from their people than African leaders.when there is a glaring difference in political and leadership cultures and a resulting difference in the level of accessibility to leaders open to ordinary citizens. Try writing a letter to a local representative in the NASS and see whether you get a response OR Can a public servant in the UK for example ever hold the opinion of his superior as his 'Oga at the top'?  |

Because if a leader is bothered enough to 'pretend' to be a public servant, it would indicate a level of accountability to those he leads, and also a concern about their opinion, at least more than the flagrant abuse of position which the African ones are well known for {e.g "I don't give a damn!"} would ever indicate. In other words, you don't do eye service for someone you don't give a hoot about. PS: 'You are wrong' is too conclusive to begin to make a point with, we're exchanging opinion here and not tussling for who's right or not. When you start an argument that way, you make it look like you've already concluded your view, and in that case there's no point coming onto a forum where you'll be faced with various differing ones. |

The African leadership culture is completely different in that it pays a lot of attention to separating the leadership figures from those it's supposed to serve - high fences, bulllet proof vehicles, security personnel everywhere they go. As long as the poor are in majority don't even bother to expect this from any Nigerian politician. 3 Likes |

There are many topics that have discussed this already, have you bothered to search that company name or address here on NLand? There's a search bar up there [img]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d4/U%2B21D1.svg[/img] use it! There's also a phone number there, call it, ask them questions. Next time don't be reluctant to take steps to find these things out for yourself, it costs little effort. That way you could have come here to enlighten people and add to knowledge based on your experience rather than creating another query over something that has been previously discussed. |

ifyalways: Nothing ventured,nothing gained.The eventual jobs would be in Lagos, no overseas travel oh If they wanted to recruit for London they wouldn't need to come to Nigeria/Ghana, my guess is that BAML want to setup or already have a presence in Nigeria & Ghana which they are interested in recruiting for. |

It's one of the preliminary stages of recruitment or did you not notice that the instruction says to send your CV? They would have limited spaces for the event and so they would invite only those they consider as the best candidates. Obviously not everyone who wishes to attend shall actually be invited. I doubt BAML wants to hire people who are lazy to read as is evidenced by some comments here. The purpose of the event is described clearly in the flyer posted by the OP so I wonder where the misconceptions have come from. IF you're interested, read and follow the instructions carefully. These type of recruitment events are an opportunity for candidates to interact with company staff, ask questions and show interest in working with them. If you are invited, dress and behave formally because it's their own opportunity too to assess your fitness with the organization. Don't just go there to listen and follow instructions but be prepared to interact, remember you would be 'selling' yourself. Expect a lot of information about the company, maybe some snacks and who knows, they might throw in an exercise or two to test your ability. Google "recruitment open day/evening" to learn more about this kind of recruitment events. 2 Likes |
