BusinessRe: A Brazilian Company Offers To Buy PHCN For $100 Billion by 1forall: 2:42am On Aug 26, 2011
Going by the history of public sector privatization in Nigeria, I don't expect it to work. The saboteurs are real and powerful institutions. . . they're like principalities by themselves.

Till today NITEL's status cannot be explained. If someone has an idea he should please explain.

Irresponsible leadership, we have nurtured a culture of shifting away our responsibilities and now we just can't do ANY thing right.

I sure say na that $100b just dey scratch all of dem ear with no bother about what happens after the deal is sealed, and that is if it happens 'cos I don't trust the major beneficiaries of this national darkness shall take this move standing.

Isn't an entire nations electricity supply too strategic a resource to just handover to a foreign organization?

And what's the plan for the $100b?

CareerRe: He Wants To Quit Because He Earns 'only' 160K by 1forall(mod): 7:53pm On Aug 06, 2011
His justification for his planned action is not rational enough in my opinion.

He should take a business perspective on his employment and give justifiable reasons why he prefers 0 to 160k/month.

He should bear in mind that his financial obligations won't go away if he quits. Business wise, it is still preferable to make enough to cover costs, than to begin to run at a loss so he should think well. Even if he's got savings, he wont be earning income till he manages to somewhat replace his current source so he ought to critically consider his plan.

What does he plan to do to earn after quitting? How mature is his 'hustle'? I mean if he's had the hustle going on for a while alongside his formal employment then maybe he won't find it too hard to cope with the loss of his current source because he'll have more time to face it. Even at that, its not easy esp in our Naija where the conditions are hostile. But If he's planning to quit just to start this 'hustle' then he's onto a looong thing.

Let's face it, there are simply too many people looking for too few jobs and I doubt anyone will sympathise with your friend's complaints. The easiest impression to make of his plan is that of a 'foolish' one.

The situation is more delicate because he has people depending on him, or is he planning to depend on his wife?
CareerRe: What Are The Chances Of Getting A Good Job With A Degree In Systems Engineering? by 1forall(mod): 5:43pm On Aug 01, 2011
Why are you needlessly worried for the guy? Is he the last of your siblings?

Systems engineering is a great course, you should google it.

Please respect the guy's choice and offer him your support instead of worrying for him.

The best person to speak about this with though, is him. Try and learn what the dude's aspirations, plans and expectations are.

If as you say; the course isn't common, then it means there may not be many qualified systems engineers in Nigeria, don't you think that brightens his employment chances?
