You forgot to tell us the industry this fantastic jobs are? I'm interested in learning more because I'm in the UK where you have said the positions are, not London though. And I'm sure you know what the employment situation is like especially for 'us'.

She's asked you several times and you've been asked to prepare a CV, don't you get the hint? Prepare It!!
Send CV to both places and more (cos you're not employed till you receive an employment letter)

Since you're serving, there's nothing wrong telling prospective employers you're not available till you finish NYSC, they should respect that. Except they are in serious need and under which conditions you should receive a firm offer first before leaving where you are.

Employment is usually a process i.e Send CV --> Possible test --> Interview --> Maybe more interviews --> Employment Offer --> Employment
so don't get too excited and leave certainty for uncertainty.
Also don't be stuck thinking you need an confirmation of retention before you do your own part.

So:
Erase the word 'Retain' from your vocabulary, replace it with 'Employ'

Then, prepare a CV (that's basic).

A friend gave me his laptop computer, a good one, it used to be his from his former employer. I thought I'd just by-pass the login password with the usual tricks but it appears the firm had a robust system.

There's a Novell client software which handles login into Win XP. Trying to login to the computer itself and not the network wont work as its passworded. The administrator username is also passworded.

I've attempted to boot from CD but can't access setup config as there's an Intel password there as well.

Does anyone have any tips on making this computer useful ?

I'd say none of the Nigerian schools is worthy of the the word best, lets face it, the general standard is crap.
What indices do you rate a University with? Things like:

So how can you rate any Nigerian university when they can boast of just 50% on any of these points, and with high dropout rates?

Poster if you created this topic to know which one to go I'd say choose the one you like the most (or one that'll give you the least hassle) else I'm curious as to why you're curious? They're a far cry from what standard is.

BTW I went to OAU and as proud as I am of that, I also know that education accompanied with stress (OAU people know what 'stress' means) loses a lot of its value in the process. And what were they teaching anyway? Recycling class notes from decades past? Dictating notes which if you crammed, gave back word for word as much as possible, were guaranteed to pass? Lecturers speaking to the blackboard? Lecturers happy to fail students? Stale syllabuses that have no application to the present day?

People, education + stress is not equal to good education o! And I'm quite sure this applies to many of our Universities.
