Jobs/VacanciesRe: Indian Doctors At Lagos Nigeria by 1forall: 11:51am On Jul 28, 2011
You seem to have missed out the many bits of advise that you've been offered.

Looks like the wages are the major reason why you want to make the move, if you've been formally employed then you have, so relax a little. Although you sound like you haven't formally accepted the offer.

As per the money, you may have to find out from your first paycheck, the decision to make now is whether the risk is worth taking or not. Its not impossible, but I doubt if anyone is going to make enquiries on your behalf from a website, you've already been advised to contact your embassy in Nigeria.

But I think though that its a bit unfair on you two to be required to move in one blow, you should be negotiating for some flexibility in the name of reason, also to protect yourself from the possible risks.

Remember they need you as much as you want them, they are also running out of time.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Indian Doctors At Lagos Nigeria by 1forall: 1:11pm On Jul 25, 2011
If there's such a great hurry to move, then u should insist on gettin more fact from your employment agency.

Let them know your concerns and don't be shy to ask questions.

This link: http://www.wisdomjobs.com/view_job.php?jobid=34494&flag=t
seems to advertise the vacancies you got employed to fill but the salary sounds incredible I have to be honest.

Have you signed a contract? What are the terms? If you know any Indians in Nigeria/Lagos you should be phoning them for assistance.

If they are paying for your flight tickets then it may be worth the risk, but insist they be RETURN tickets just in case.

Best wishes!

Why tribalise everything for Pete's sake? Right from the APGA chairman to the posters here.

No real progress can be made anywhere as long as tribal divisions continue to play a big role in how people think.

And he wants to change constitution so he can rule for 7 years, without an agenda?

Isn't GET just a grave waste of space?

Presidential disgrace displaying his ineptitude with glee, can't express my disgust enough. With such an utterance I can confidently say that I have more 'sense' than the president of Nigeria.

For such an utterance he should be jailed without trial, but come to think of it he has said even more foolish things so hey, we're headed for doom with the way things are going.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: We Need To Curb These Scammers by 1forall:
OP you're right. The rate is quite alarming, and it is unfortunate that still people fall for these scammer tricks.

Many topics have been created to address this issue and below are a few:

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-488547.0.html

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-676504.0.html

An observation is that people appear easily tempted by the idea of reaping where they do not sow, and fall for offers which are too good to be true without really evaluating critically or rationally.

Why would you believe it when someone you do not know offers to show you how to make money out of nowhere? If he was making money from whatever scheme, why is he being so kind to share? and with people he doesn't know? EVEN father xmas only comes once a year! grin

Majority of people who get scammed are those looking for shortcuts who forget that there are REALLY no shortcuts to success.

Some people get asked by 'potential' employers to pay for recruitment processing and come back to the forum to ask what people think? Why should you even consider paying in the first place? Why would an employer who wants to pay you a salary (say, 80000/month) require N2500 as 'processing' fee? Which organization worthy of its reputation does that? huh

These con artists are stubborn and continuously creative so its nearly impossible to 'get' them all. And even when they are banned no one can prevent them from setting up new accounts to continue their 'business'.

I think the best tactic is communal where every user considers it a responsibility to report suspicious users/posts to the moderators, but its a shame that users generally do not bother to use the 'report post' link available in each post for that purpose. Therefore many of these 'oles' go unnoticed. Personally I have not received a report from any user in the past 30 days so its hard to blame moderators for inaction, but trust me; we are working oh!
What we need is more of your help to put the menace under control.

Expecting your reports > cool

Interestingly this is in today's newspaper. . .

Funmi Iyanda: To Monte Carlo with 'Lagos Stories'

Talk show host, Funmi Iyanda, has graced the 51st Monte Carlo Television Festival Award, for which her documentary, ‘My Country Nigeria', was recognized with a nomination. An episode in the three-part mini-series, ‘Lagos Stories' was nominated in the Best News Documentary category of the festival, held on June 10. Iyanda, who produced and presented the documentary, was in France for the ceremony along with her director, Chris Dada.

CelebritiesRe: Funmi Iyanda Turns Down CNN job Offer by 1forall: 2:37pm On Jun 29, 2011
If this is true then I think Funmi made a good decision because she gave a sensible justification, and even described conditions (even if hardly possible) under which she would consider such a move. . . smart chick grin

Dolemite:
From these responses it is evident that you Nigerians are haters. . .if she appeared on CNN you all would 'pretend' to be happy for her, but it would eat you up inside, why are you people like that?
Don't get it twisted, 6 sarcastic replies and suddenly all Nigerians are haters, aren't there haters everywhere?

Wonder where that idea came from? A bad Nigerian experience doesn't mean we're all evil darling wink

ABUJA, Nigeria -- Nigerian police say they no longer believe an attack last week on police headquarters was a suicide bomb.

National police spokesman Olusola Amore distributed a statement at a press conference Wednesday "correcting the report about the fact that it is (a) suicide bombing."

The statement said the investigation has not been concluded into the attack in the capital of Abuja that left at least two dead. Amore took no questions and gave no further details.

Did you apply for a Lagos-based job in Lagos lately?
Were you expecting an invitation for a test?

If not, then I'll advice you disregard the message.
Might've been different if you stayed in Lagos but trust me, its not worth travelling all the way for something you don't remember applying for.
