3. It was only when the APC coup plotters could not come to NASS because of the tense situation having sense that the coup have failed, then Osibanjo quickly sack Daura just to save the face of the presidency.

With recent happenings in our country in the political arena, I am sensing a possible come back of the military.
The umpire of elections in Nigeria, the Independent National electoral committee claimed that lack of funds might cause a possible setback for the 2019 general elections which Nigerians are desperately clamouring for.
However with a sudden recess announced and embarked upon by the hollow chambers of the Nigeria Senate, this claim by INEC may become a reality as it has timetable for the elections.
Without the 2019 elections in Nigeria, the military may stage a come back which spell dooms for the nation and may make the labours of the hero of democracy futile.
Regardless of party affiliations, all Nigerians should appeal to the Senate to come back from recess to review INEC budget for the 2019 elections. The failure might cause a lot of crises.
To the Nigerian masses, we should desperately appeal to the Bukola Saraki led Senate because when the chips are down, they will fly overseas to meet their children and wives and leave us to face the brunt of the the crisis they are brewing.

Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, has declared that Nigeria will soon celebrate the end of Boko Haram insurgency.


He said this while receiving the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who paid him a courtesy call at the weekend, at the Government House, in Owerri, the state capital.

Okorocha said what the nation was currently experiencing was part of the history that will be written for unborn generations, adding that many nations of the world had gone through the process before getting to their point of their greatness.


He commended efforts of officers and men of the Nigeria Air Force in fighting insurgency in Zamfara, Borno, Adamawa states and other parts of the North East.

According to Okorocha, “We sincerely acknowledge the efforts of the officers and men of the Air Force in fighting insurgency in the North East.

“These are sacrifices ordinary people could not make. I commend your officers for defending our nation at this trying times without counting cost of returns. We would always pray and support you.


“We as a State have dramatized our love for the Air Force. You are the first military organization that received two big gifts from Imo State Government.

“First, the 200-bed hospital and headquarters of regiment 211 we did so to appreciate you for choosing Imo State as the centre for your regiment for the South-East.

“We in the Southern part of the country feel with a heavy heart what our brothers in the Northern parts are passing through and we will continue to pray and give help when needed and soon we will celebrate the end of the insurgency.

“The Imo State Government is ready to continue in the partnership we are having with the Air Force. We can offer you our Imo College of Advanced Studies for you to use for your Artisan School. I am ready to put up the structure for Air Force Secondary School in Imo State.

The United Kingdom authorities have rejected a consignment of agricultural produce from Nigeria worth N5 million for failing to meet up with the expected requirements.

Head of Inspection at the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) in the South West Zone, Dr Moses Adewumi, made this disclosure at a news conference.

He disclosed that the consignment contained bitter leaf, wrapping leaf, pumpkin leaf, waterleaf, native pear, backyard eggs, amongst others.

Mr Adewumi, however, emphasised that the goods were rejected because they did not have phytosanitary certificates.

Business Post reports that a phytosanitary certificate is an official document issued to indicate that consignments of plants, plant products or other regulated articles meet specified phytosanitary import requirements and are in conformity with the certifying statement of the appropriate model certificate.

Mr Adewumi informed reporters at the briefing that the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) requires that within the movement of agricultural produce or commodities around the globe, the commodities must be free from pest.

According to him, “On this case, now we have as much as about 41 Worldwide Standard For Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM), which guides the transfer of commodities.

“When you find yourself sending commodities beyond the shores of the country, the worldwide process is that it should be accompanied with a phytosanitary certificate, that’s the well-being of the commodity being exported.”

He said, “Any commodity not accompanied by the certificates is against the law,” explaining that, “That’s the reason all these consignments have been returned to the nation (Nigeria) due to the fact that most of them weren’t accompanied with phytosanitary certificates.”

But Mr Adewumi said NAQS was making efforts to ensure exporters and non-exporters know about these requirements to prevent such from happening in the future.

Recall that last year, some consignments of yam exported from Nigeria to the USA at a ceremony in Lagos attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Audu Ogbeh, were rejected on account of poor quality.
