You are right with the aforementioned locations. I have not executed any project or investment in the North so i can't tell about that area.

It's everywhere oh. I have experienced it on several occasions, even after paying youth development levy. They think they are doing us. Now, i am no longer a charity organization. If i have any project or CSR, i will go and do it in my hometown......Even the solar street light, public borehole, charity foundation and skill acquisition center i intend building, i will do it in my home town. This is beyond Buhari. The business model was faulty from day one. Hype and Vanity metrics cannot sustain a business.

I saw this coming and many more online startups are struggling to stay afloat. Please to the young entrepreneurs out there, I have an advice for you: Profits sustains business, not hype or noise. Profit in business is success, but unfortunately, the media tends to deceive a lot of people.

- Being the biggest, is not profit.
- Receive an award, is not profit.
- Being everywhere and spending millions in ads is not profit
- Raising $1million is not profit
- Signing up 1 million users in an hour is not profit
- Having 10million followers on FB or Twitter is not profit
- Rushing to establish presence in 40 countries is not profit

Nothing beats growing organically. If you need a proof to the above points, just look at Nairaland.com.
Experience in business have taught me not to be moved by vanity metrics. Just show me the money.

Why do i have this feeling that he is trying to get a pat on the back or prove to society how smart he is or prove to society that he is not a daddy's boy?? Every business man has once in his life backed a deal that didn't sail through and they never made a fuss out of it. Dangote and Femi Otedola didn't sail through with their Blue Star Consortium backed by Tony Elumelu, Cecilia Ibru, Jim Ovia and others.

Now in retrospect, Nearly does not kill a bird!!! In big deals, there's no second place. It's a winner takes all game. I understand he was trying to stay within his circle of competence which is within the oil and gas industry. But with the kind of money and circle of friends he has, he would have just bought out or back a tech startup and ride the waves.

Update: Now for those that may have opposing views, i have read and re-read the article time and again. Aside the euphoria of the write-up, i observed the "I" factor. He credited himself too much, trying too hard to make us understand how smart and brilliant he is. You paid your team thousands of dollars and you don't want to listen to them, you would have gone it all alone and save your money. He should go thank his God the deal didn't sail through. Just like one of my mentor's do say:

"If you are the smartest person on your team, you are in trouble."

2. He lacks personal business experience. He got too emotionally attached to the deal. If there's one thing every businessman knows, it's that there's always another deal opportunity coming.

Update

Someone offered to acquihire our business. We said no!

I recently read Horowitz's book, the hard thing about hard things. His theory is to never sell if you're early in a large market. So we took his advice and didn't. Well, the fact that the offer was not that great made it even easier.

We've entertained other investor interest, however, they all have differing views as to what product we should be building. I'm very fixed as to what I want to focus on so don't have much time for people who don't buy into the vision. So looks like we will be bootstrapping for a long time.

We won a Google sponsored pitch competition recently that's given us access to some mentoring training. Very useful for morale as this journey is hard and long, any pat on the back helps.


I hired a biz dev guy at the start of the year to replace the other one who left us. The new guy only stayed a few months before he left, something about family issues. Our old guy is back doing some work part time for us. I'm considering the best way to hire someone new especially as they'll largely be on their own running a more customer support/ success role.

It's all still hard, I continue to fluctuate between moments of despair that we are about to fail and moments of elation over the incredible progress we've made.

If you're working on something you are passionate about, keep believing and stay in the game, the breakthrough will come eventually.

the jealousy that lives in women blinds the reasoning facaulty to see things right, this woman's husband is of high rank and has been involved in various operations sometimes in life and death situations, the kidnappers or armed robbers he had dealt with are sprawling and would strike when they see lapses, if his family is compromised so as his job and ability to function or reason, if you know the death threats and attacks these men face from time to time you should not want to Marry a well paid police officer, you are just being intimidated, blind your impulses , you never thought of seeing yourself as being safe in the presence of these men did you?

God bless you for this unbiased comment. Most people will never understand what it means to hold MONEY and POWER. Just a slip, and you can be taken down or sold out even by your friends eyeing your position.

FACT!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially now that election year is around the corner. A female friend of mine was saved from entering one last week. She got to the wetheral bus stop by Aba road waiting to board a cab.

While standing, the touts at that bus stop were teasing her calling her fine girl. She just smiled at them and kept mute. A cab came along and she ran to board it and the occupants opened the door for her to enter, only for the touts to run after her shouting in Igbo language: " Fine girl no enter oh, it's one chance oh" and the cab zoomed off with their door still opened. If not for those touts, or if she had insulted them, they would have left her to her fate.

Still same last week, a man was chased down, caught and beaten to death at No 2 bus stop Naze / Aba road Owerri. He was alleged to be a member of the "One Chance crew." His accomplices escaped.

When i throttle my infiniti, i feel the G-force sucking me into my seat. That car is power personified. Aside fuel and availability of parts which makes it expensive, you are good to go.

Every time there's some kinda commotion in Nigerian street you see people including children running towards the commotion curiously to catch the glimpse of the commotion. Instead of staying away from it. This death could have been prevented! Surely.
What was the boy doing at the scene of the commotion?
Were was his parents?
Nigerian soldiers are like zombies on drugs stay away from them. Last time a soldier intetionally damaged my vehicle and was even threatening me, I just sat in my vehicle and kept quiet till he went away with his madness I could see that he was high on drugs. It cost me some money to replace both headlights of My AMG benz SUV but I am alive.
