Celebrities6 Weird Facts You Never Knew About Pubic Hair by 247frolic(op): 2:44pm On May 02, 2016
https://dksehxhc973rn.cloudfront.net/df5b29452ba77c8ea1da67fe315770009e788f79.jpg

Pubic hair isn’t a popular topic of discussion, but it is something that we all think about privately quite often. Everyone (well, everyone from puberty age) has pubes. There have been a few studies and research done on pubes, and what has been found is kind of gross, a little alarming, and might make you reconsider everything you’ve ever done to remove it. Actually, these facts might make you wonder why anyone ever tried to get rid of it in the first place. INFORMATION NIGERIA brings to you in this piece 6 weird things you never knew about pubic hair:

Pubes Can Make s*x More Comfortable

Pubic hair can help trap and spread pheromones, which are s*x hormones. “Pubic hair may also be there to provide a buffer and reduce friction during s*x.” You definitely notice a difference in feeling down there when you’re completely bare and when you have a decent amount of hair.
Going Hairless Can Increase Your Risk Of An STD

A study done in 2014 found that removing pubic hair could increase the risk of contracting an STI or STD. There are a few reasons for this. One, studies have found that people who remove pubic hair have more s*x and more partners (this is probably because most people who remove their pubic hair are doing so because they’re sexually active. Having more s*x with more partners will always increase your risk of a sexually transmitted disease. Two, if you remove pubic hair by waxing and you don’t go to a clean place, you could get infected there. Interesting!
Having Pubes Can Help Fight Infections Down There

Removing pubic hair can be dangerous to a woman’s health. “Recent research shows that removing pubic hair can increase your risk of viral or fungal infection, ingrown hairs, or even skin scarring. You can pick things up from dirty surfaces, contaminated tools, or by introducing bacteria into newly opened pores or nicks after shaving or waxing.” This has been proven in other studies and research, so it is definitely something to consider.
Pubic Hair Is Transferred Between Partners During s*x

This news shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it’s still kind of strange. Research has shown that when you have pubic hair, and you have s*x with someone, it gets transferred between both partners. This means that if their pubes are dirty or unwashed, it gets into your body, and vice versa. Stay clean, guys!
Most People Have Complications From Hair Removal

Okay, but seriously though: removing every hint of pubic hair constantly might not be the best idea as complications could arise. The complications includes but not limited to ingrown hairs or irritation.
You Can Go Bald Down There

Interesting little fact nugget: you can go bald down there! Hair loss medical conditions such as menopause, alopecia, and an underactive adrenal gland can cause balding

SportsPHOTO: Coach Banned For Calling Nigerian Player ‘black Idiot’ In Slovenia by 247frolic(op): 7:31pm On Apr 14, 2016

The Slovenia Football Association has suspended the coach of the club first-division leader for seven matches for making a racial slur, by calling his Nigerian striker, ‘black idiot’.

Olimpija Ljubljana’s Marko Nikolic abused Blessing Eleke, after the Nigerian scored an extra time equalizer against Zavrc at home for 1-1 on Sunday and broke away to celebrate the goal. Nikolic felt Eleke was wasting time as he wanted the team to win the match.

Nikolic, a Serb, was also caught on camera as saying “look at that idiot” while Eleke celebrated.

Nikolic said he never intended to offend the player racially, and was unhappy that the long celebration meant there was no time for a winner. He apologized to Eleke.

Olimpija refused to suspend the coach, but the FA said it acted “because of clear racism.”

The suspension meant Nikolic is banned to the end of the season.

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked parents of the 219 schoolgirls stolen by Boko Haram two years ago to exercise more patience as his government explores options to rescue the girls.

Buhari said this today in a statement coinciding with the second anniversary of the kidnapping of the girls, which has provoked global outrage against Boko Haram and Nigeria’s government’s inaction.

Buhari however pleaded for more time, adding that, like the parents, he frequently reflects on the ordeal of the captives in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists and shares the pain of their continued absence from home.

“President Buhari affirms that, as a parent and leader of the country, he understands the torment, frustration and anxiety of the parents and will not spare any effort to ensure the safe return of the girls”, said Femi Adesina, in a statement issued on behalf of Buhari..

“The President continues to believe that with the total commitment of the Federal Government, Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies, and the support of the international community, the girls will be eventually rescued.
“President Buhari notes that thousands of persons, mostly women and children, who were kidnapped by Boko Haram, have already been rescued and reunited with their families. He shares the hope of the parents that the Chibok girls will ultimately be rescued and reunited with their families as well.

“The President assures the parents that the Federal Government and security agencies will continue to explore all possible options for the safe return of the girls. President Buhari urges the parents to continue to exercise patience and understanding as the government works diligently to ensure that the girls return home unharmed.

“The President thanks all Nigerians, religious and civil organizations, and the international community for their continued sympathy, support and prayers for the return of the Chibok girls.”

BusinessOtedola Diverted $232.9million To Fortis Oil- Witness by 247frolic(op): 6:41pm On Apr 13, 2016
Boniface Emenalo, the Secretary of the then House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy said Zenon Oil and Gas owned by billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola obtained the sum of $232, 975, 385.13 for importation of petrol, but diverted the funds to its sister company, AP now known as Fortis Oil.

Emenalo was the first prosecution witness in the trial of Farouk Lawan, a former member of the House of Representatives by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission,(ICPC) for receiving $500,000 bribe from Otedola.

Under cross examination by Chief Mike Ozekhome, the lead defence counsel, Emenalo read a section of the report of the Committee which was already admitted in evidence in which Zenon was indicted over diversion of $232, 975, 385.13 million in the report of the Committee in 2012.

He added that AP subsequently utilised the forex to import petroleum products.

The witness told the court that one of the objectives of his Committee was to find out companies which collected foreign exchange for importation of petroleum products, but never did so.

In response to a series of questions by Ozekhome, Boniface said the Committee also discovered that some of the companies that collected foreign exchange for importation of petrol diverted the foreign exchange to other companies and that the companies involved were referred to the anti corruption agencies.

Ozekhome asked Emenalo to read from one of the statements he made which has been admitted as exhibits in court where it was indicated that the Ad hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy had initially freed Zenon from the investigations based on presentation by the company that it is not involved in the subsidy scheme.

“You now made discovery that the consultant discovered that a particular form M given to Zenon was used by AP in importing PMS and AP was accordingly paid,” Ozekhome asked Emenalo to which he replied “Yes.”

Though Emenalo said the discovery was made by one of the consultants used by the committee, he said he could not remember the name.

Still reading from the report of the Committee already accepted as exhibit in court, Emenalo said Zenon oil was number six in the list of companies that obtained forex, but did not import petroleum products. The amount listed as collected by the company through Form ‘M’ was $232, 975, 385.13 million.
Emenalo also said he collected $100,000 from Otedola to show that the oil magnate wanted to bribe members of the Committee.Justice Ataluka adjourned proceedings in the trial to Wednesday at the instance of prosecution who told the court that his other witnesses were not in court.

ICPC is trying Lawan over allegations that he received the sum of $500,000 from Otedola after demanding $3 million from the oil magnate.

Emanalo was also previously charged with receiving $120,000 from the oil magnate, but the charges were dropped when he was made the prosecution witness.

One of the charges against Lawan read: “That you Hon Farouk Lawan (M) being member of the house of representatives and chairman house committee on monitoring of fuel subsidy regime sometime in April 2012 or thereabout at Abuja within the federal capital territory under the jurisdiction of this honourable court did, while acting in the course of your official duty corruptly asked for the sum of $3,000, 000 from Mr. Femi Otedola, chairman Zenon Petroleum and Gas LTD on account of intention to afterwards show favour to the said Mr Femi Otedola by removing the name of Zenon Petroleum and Gas LTD from the report of the house of representatives ad-hoc committee on monitoring of fuel subsidy regime and you thereby committee an offence contrary to section 8 (1) (a) of The‎ Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 8 (1) of the same Act.”

Count three read: “That you Hon. Farouk Lawan (M) while being a member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Monitoring of Fuel Subsidy Regime sometimes in April 2012 or thereabout at Abuja within the Federal Capital Territory under the jurisdiction of this honorable court did while acting in the course of your official duty corruptly obtained the sum of $500,000 (five hundred thousand US dollars ) for yourself from Mr. Femi Otedola Chairman Zenon petroleum and Gas Limited as an inducement to remove the name of Zenon petroleum and Gas Limited from the report of the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc committee on Monitoring of Fuel Subsidy Regime and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 17 (1) (a) of The Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section (17)(1) of the same Act.”

In line with ensuring that the Memorandum of Understanding between Lagos and Kebbi State on rice cultivation materializes, on Tuesday, 12th of April 2016, His Excellency Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode inspected the Imota Rice Processing Factory in Ikorodu.

During the inspection exercise, His Excellency, Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was briefed on the present production capability of the Rice Mill, which is presently at 2,500 metric tonnes/ hour. His Excellency was briefed on the inadequacies of the rice mill which includes its low capacity to Parboil and dry effectively.

He said:

“This is the only platform we can use to allow the inflow of rice paddy from Kebbi State. You will all recall that we just signed an MoU with Kebbi State and the intention is that we want a consistent flow of raw materials to come so that the era of importing rice from abroad would become a thing of the past, he said aside Kebbi State, Lagos is also looking at possible partnership with other states, saying that on the long run, such collaboration will ensure that residents can consume locally processed rice within the next six months.

PoliticsLagos State Is Removing Street Gates by 247frolic(op): 9:48pm On Apr 11, 2016
The Lagos State Government has begun the removal of gates on streets across the state following the expiration of the ultimatum to all residents to leave gates open till 12 midnight each day.

The government has marked 62 gates for removal across the state, out of which 28 were removed today in in Ajeromi Ifelodun area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The government, because of the traffic gridlock ordered all residents to leave their gates open between 5am and 12 midnight so that motorists could navigate through them in order to curb traffic gridlock.

The ultimatum has expired

Government officials along with the Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit stormed Ajeromi Ifelodun on Monday and removed 28 gates which were locked against motorists.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Affairs, Alhaji Tajudeen Quadri noted that the removal of the gated streets had to be done after series of awareness campaign by the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs on the need to adhere strictly to state government directives.

He added that series of stakeholders meeting were held with executive members of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Community Development Associations (CDAs) and the Executive Secretaries of the Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs to ensure that they were all involved in the state government policies and directives.

“There is need to remove all the gated streets and barricades due to non-compliance of the residents to the opening hours of 5am to 12midnight and to be effectively manned from midnight to 5am by security personnel who must always be on ground to open these gates in case of any emergency.

“These gates constitute obstruction to traffic, especially in areas where such gated streets or barricades are on roads meant to serve as thoroughfares or alternative link routes, it also prevents fire engines during fire outbreak, pregnant women in labour, other medical emergency, and police patrol vehicles to gain access to such streets when they receive any distress calls,” he said.

He advised other residents that had not complied with the state government’s directive to do so before the government move to their areas for demolition, adding that over 62 gates had been marked down for removal across the 57 councils, while the government had so far removed 28.

Chairman, DCD, Ajeromi –Ifelodun, Mr.Tunde Balogun said the removal of the gates was long overdue “because in the past in this area, closure of gate had led to the death of a pregnant woman that was being taken to a nearby General Hospital, but died when they could not assess the street due to the closure of the gate.

“Now that some gates in the streets are being removed, it will give assess to motorists who are being held up in traffic and will also enhance smooth operation for the security agencies during emergencies so as to carry out their operations effectively in any of the affected areas when there is any distress call.”

He advised some residents who had not complied to government’s directive on the appropriate time for the opening and closure of their gates to do so.

One of the residents, Engr. Oamen Edward, said this operation was a welcome development as it would put a stop to extortion in the area by the leaders and the landlords, adding that it would ease the flow of traffic and reduce the travelling time of people from their respective places of work.

Mrs. Ejioma Okoh, a resident, emphasized that the majority of the streets in her neighborhood closed their gates around 7pm and that this usually caused a lot of discomfort to people who got home late from work, saying that the enforcement carried out in the area was a welcomed development.

PoliticsSenate Asks Amaechi To Resign by 247frolic(op): 9:32pm On Apr 11, 2016
The Nigerian Senate has asked the Minister of Transport, Chibuike Amaechi, to resign his appointment as Minister or apologize to the Senate and Nigerians over the Lagos-Calabar rail project that has generated a lot controversies in the last 48 hours. Members of the National Assembly and the presidency have been at loggerheads after media reports alleged that the National Assembly members had removed the Lagos-Calabar rail project from the budget presented to it by President Buhari.

The reports alleged that the National Assembly members diverted the money meant for the said project to the Lagos-Kano project, favoring the Northern region. Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and Chairman House Committee on Appropriation Abdulmumin Jibrin, via their twitter handles refuted the claims while the Chairman Senate Committee on Transport, Gbenga Ashafa, in a statement he released, said although the project was not included in the original budget forwarded to the National Assembly by Buhari, Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi approached his committee to include the said project.

Read the senate's position on the matter below...

The Senate today (Monday, April 11) advised the Presidency to come clean with Nigerians on the 2016 Budget and stop engaging in surreptitious campaigns of calumny against the Senate in order to cover up its serial errors.

Reacting to claims in the media credited to the Executive arm of government on the 2016 budget, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, in a statement in Abuja, said the National Assembly had bent backwards to wring a coherent document out of the excessively flawed and chaotic versions of the budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly.

He said : "while the executive is mandated to prepare and lay before the National Assembly a proposed budget detailing projects to be executed, it should be made clear that the responsibility and power of appropriation lies with the National Assembly. If the presidency expects us to return the budget proposal to them without any adjustments, then some people must be living in a different era and probably have not come to terms with democracy."

"We make bold to say however, that the said Lagos-Calabar rail project was not included in the budget proposal presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari and we challenge anyone who has any evidence to the contrary to present such to Nigerians."

Since the beginning of the 2016 budget process, it is clear that the National Assembly has suffered all manners of falsehood, deliberate distortion of facts, and outright blackmail, deliberately aimed at poisoning the minds of the people against the institution of the National Assembly. We have endured this with equanimity in the overall interest of Nigerians. Even when the original submission was surreptitiously swapped and we ended up having two versions of the budget, which was almost incomprehensible and heavily padded in a manner that betrays lack of coordination and gross incompetence, we refused to play to the gallery and instead helped the Executive to manage the hugely embarrassing situation it has brought upon itself; but enough is enough."

"This latest antics of this particular minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is reckless, uncalled for and dangerously divisive. Apart from setting the people of the southern part of the country against their northern compatriots, it potentially sets the people against their lawmakers from the concerned constituencies and sets the lawmakers against themselves. This manner of reprehensible Mischief has no place in a democracy. We hereby demand from Mr. Amaechi a publicly tendered apology if he is not able to show evidence that the Lagos-Calabar road project was included in the budget. Otherwise, he should resign forthwith.

"Finally, by the provision of Section 81 (4) (a) and (b) of the constitution, the President is allowed to sign the budget and kick-start the implementation of the other areas that constitute over 90 percent of the budget where there is agreement between both arms, even as we engage ourselves to resolve the contentious areas, if there were any. We therefore maintain that even this contrived discrepancies are not sufficient excuse not to sign the budget into law."

"We therefore urge President Buhari to sign the 2016 budget without any further delay. For every additional day that the president withholds his assent from the bill, the hardship in the land, which is already becoming intolerable for the masses of our people gets even more complicated. Certainly, as primary representatives of the people we shall not vacate our responsibility and watch the people continue to suffer unduly."

Signed
Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi
Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs

PoliticsPirates Kidnap 6 Crew Members Of Turkish Ship In Niger Delta by 247frolic(op): 5:40pm On Apr 11, 2016
Six crew members of a Turkish cargo ship have been kidnapped by pirates in the Niger Delta, according to Nigerian Navy spokesman, Chris Ezekobe.

“All the six Turkish crew members, including the captain of the vessel, the chief officer and the chief engineer, were abducted by the attackers,” Ezekobe confirmed.

The pirates attacked the vessel in the dead of night while it was steaming through the oil-rich Niger Delta, added the spokesman.

The pirates attacked the Turkish cargo ship in the dead of night while it was steaming through the oil-rich Niger Delta, a spokesman for the Nigerian Navy said

Ezekobe said the ship — a merchant tanker — was used for crude oil operations and the navy was working with Interpol and Nigeria’s secret police to secure the crew’s release.

Turkey’s Deniz News Agency said the ship, the M/T Puli, was owned by Kaptanoglu Shipping.

Both the kidnapped crew and those who remained on the ship, were “in good health”, the company was reported as saying.

It was unclear how many crew members were aboard, which was carrying chemicals, when it was attacked. Company officials said they have had no contact with the pirates.

Dirk Steffen, director of maritime security at the Denmark-based Risk Intelligence firm, said the vessel was en route from Port Gentil in Gabon to the Ivory Coast capital, Abidjan, at the time.

“The attackers had possibly already attempted to board another ship in the vicinity the previous day,” he said in an email.

“It is extremely busy outside the Niger Delta at the moment and we had three attacks against tankers before this one between April 7 and 10.”

At the end of 2015, pirates kidnapped and later released crew members from Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland in separate attacks in the area, increasingly a piracy hotspot.

Ship hijackings have become more frequent since President Muhammadu Buhari took office in Nigeria last year and started winding down an amnesty to former militants in the delta region.

Payments were offered in exchange for an end to violence, which included kidnappings of oil workers and sabotage of pipelines that plagued the region in the 2000s.

The Control Risks consultancy in February told reporters in Lagos there had been 24 cases of “piracy and armed robbery at sea” since the turn of the year — double the number in the final two months of 2015.

Attacks in the Gulf of Guinea have increased while incidents of piracy off the coast of Somalia in eastern Africa have significantly fallen in the past three years.

Patrols by international warships and armed guards aboard commercial vessels have significantly reduced the problem in what was once the global hub for high-seas piracy.

PoliticsBorno Set To Employ Civilian JTF Members by 247frolic(op): 3:50pm On Apr 11, 2016
The Borno Government said on Monday that it had produced a blue print for full engagement of an estimated 20, 000 local vigilantes, called the Civilian JTF, after the Boko Haram insurgency.

Alhaji Kakashehu Lawan, the Commissioner of Justice stated this while speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri.

Lawan was reacting to fears expressed by residents of the state that the unemployed vigilantes may become another security threat during post insurgency era.

“His Excellency, Gov. Kashim Shettima has developed a blue print for the post Boko Haram insurgency era in the state.

“One of the agenda on the blue print is youth integration, which encapsulates all youths in the state including members of the civilian JTF,” he said.

Lawan said that the blue print made provision for the creation of a youth empowerment agency to cater for the members of the civilian JTF.

“Already, a law has been passed by the Borno House of Assembly known as Youth Vigilante Empowerment Agency Law 2015, to cater for job creation particularly targeting members of the group.

“The agency is expected to engage members of the group by providing different kinds of jobs for them,” he said.

Lawan added that the state government had also made contact with the Nigerian Army authorities to enlist those qualified into the service.

“What we have done as a government is to liaise with the Nigerian Army high command to have a large chunk of them recruited into the army,” he said.

Lawan said that government also planned to recruit some of them as fire fighters in the state.

“We are also working on plans to recruit between 500 and 1, 000 of them as fire fighters in the state department of fire service.

“We also have plans to engage about 500 of them as Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO),” he said.

Lawan said that those who possessed higher educational qualification will be absorbed into the state civil service.

“Those who are graduates and National Certificate In Education (NCE) Certificate holders will be absorbed into the State Civil Service,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Civilian JTF which emerged in 2013 had helped greatly in developing effective community policing and enhancing the fight against Boko Haram in the state.

CelebritiesPHOTO: If You Google 'unprofessional Hairstyles For Work' Only Black Women Appea by 247frolic(op): 12:29pm On Apr 09, 2016
If you Google 'Unprofessional hairstyles for work' ...images mostly display black women with natural hair

A lot of black women with natural hair are a little outraged that Googles images for “Unprofessional hairstyles for work” only displays natural black women. After the cut is an article from The Guardian

Recently, an MBA student named Rosalia discovered something alarming: Googling “unprofessional hairstyles for work” yielded image results mainly of black women with natural hair, while searching for the “professional” ones offered pictures of coiffed, white women.

Often the hair styles themselves were not vastly different — only the hair type and the wearer’s skin.

Rosalia’s tweet has since been retweeted thousands of times – more than 6,200 in the first 24 hours, she says – as her discovery sparked discussion on implicit racial biases against black people in the workplace. Can an algorithm itself be racist? Or is it only reflecting the wider social landscape?

PoliticsPHOTOS: Kano State Governor Visits Sabon Gari Market Gutted By Fire by 247frolic(op): 5:42am On Mar 28, 2016
Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje earlier today visited the scene of the inferno at the Sabo Gari market. The market was gutted by fire yesterday morning destroying property worth billions of Naira.

The Governor has also stressed the need for Nigeria to be more proactive in terms of emergency management, a statement by his Director-General, Media and Communications, Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye, reads

"He made the call while receiving top officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA who visited him in his office, in respect of the inferno at Sabon Gari market in Kano metropolis.

The fire incident, whose cause is yet to be ascertained, started around 1.00 a.m. and raged until late evening, destroying property worth billions of Naira. Governor Ganduje recalled that immediately the fire was reported to him, he contacted the Federal government to assist the state with fire fighting aircraft, in view of the enormity of the inferno, but was told that the only such facility belonging to NEMA was not in the country.

He added that he appealed to the Lagos state government for assistance but sadly, it had no such aircraft, adding that even the Nigerian Police Force was contacted but could not oblige because it does not have airborne fire fighting facilities.

Even Julius Berger was contacted. They have a small fire fighting aircraft but it was ot in good condition. We did all we could to quench the fire but the circumstances and the environment made it difficult", the governor lamented, adding that the state Fire Service had to seek the assistance of firemen from the private sector as well as firemen from neighboring states to handle the situation.

Governor Ganduje announced that the mandate of the recently inaugurated Commission of Inquiry into the cause of Singer market in the state has been extended to cover Sabon Gari market, in view of the government’s determination to address the issue promptly.

The governor further revealed that the mandate committee set up to pool assistance for victims of the Singer Market has been broadened to cater for Sabon Gari market.

He commended men of the state Fire Service for their resilience despite the operational challenges and expressed appreciation to NEMA for speedily deploying equipment and personnel to help in dousing the fire at Sabon Gari market."
