Further, what of the complaints, here, that the man died ONE MONTH LATER in hospital in Ondo State? The pictures of his arrival at hospital indicate that he was severely beaten about the head, but was alive and kicking, then. What did he ultimately die of? SEPSIS? Kidney failure? Malnutrition? The state of medical practice in public hospitals throughout Ondo State is simply atrocious. Isn't the State at fault, too, for having murdered this man? What kind of medical care did he receive? What incompetent doctors and nurses allowed this man to die ultimately of flesh wounds to his scalp, one month later?

Finally, what of the deep-seated homophobia of the average Nigerian? Virtually everyone on this thread wishes to see LGBT people punished as and for being LGBT. Well, dudes ....... I've got news for you !

ALL human sexual orientation and gender identity -- be it straight, gay, bi or tran -- is INHERITED, the product of one's genes and one's development in the womb, fixed at birth, immutable thereafter, and quite beyond the choice of the individual. NO ONE DECIDES TO BE STRAIGHT. But those who are straight simply discover their interest in the opposite sex as they mature into their teenage years, some even before then. No one has to be "convinced" to love the opposite sex, who naturally does so. No one is "seduced" into loving the opposite sex, nor taught to have such feelings. All of this comes quite naturally to the heterosexuals amongst us.

What quite many people don't understand, or don't wish to understand, is that the very same processes which cause the majority of people to be heterosexual from birth ALSO cause a minority to be homosexual or bisexual, and a tiny minority to be transsexual. Certainly, the Churches and Mosques don't wish to understand this, because it runs contrary to their self-serving interest in seeing their flocks grow (LGBT people have far fewer children than promiscuous heterosexuals!).

Jesus, in particular, although he well could have said something on the subject, said precisely nothing about it.

And where the Qur'An speaks on this, it speaks only to the "sins of Lot", meaning, particularly, the inhospitality of the people of Sodom. The Qur'An never mentions the subject of homosexuality. How could it? The concept simply didn't exist at the time of the Prophet when no one stopped to parse other people's sexual conduct as being straight or gay.

Indeed, the concern with other people's sexuality was injected into Nigeria by the British after 1913. Prior to that time, Kano, in particular, had had a flourishing gay subculture for hundreds of years. It is not homosexuality BUT HOMOPHOBIA which was foisted on Nigeria and Nigerians by the British!

Brothers and sisters, put aside your fears! No one can change your sexuality or seduce your children into being someone other than what they naturally are. But only 55% of men are straight, 35% are bisexual and 8% are gay from birth; and 85% of women are straight, 10% are bisexual and 2.5% are lesbian from birth. This means that some 20% of Nigerians are LGBT from birth, some 34 MILLION NIGERIANS !!

Isn't it high time that we stop oppressing our brothers and sisters and start loving and caring for one another !!??

You want freedom but at the same time you want to deny others freedom. Who the hell are we to decide what is acceptable in someone's personal life and what's not? This individual was killed not just because he was Gay only but because he was poor and unable to defend himself both physically and economically. If he was rich, that is, a first class citizen or a family member of the political elite, would anyone even attempt to touch a hair on his head even if he raped another guy? Anyway i do understand your point of view but just remember, if you want freedom, you must also be willing to let others have that same freedom. Today they are killing Gays, tomorrow it will be virgins another day it may be unbelievers.

The best thing God did for me last year is leaving that country where important issue are not priority. When would the youth mob a politician for stealing or under performing. Na gay be their problem. He probably would have changed if he had the chance.we need to appreciate life more, people dying in very mysterious and unnecessary ways and it's painful.
