Politics › Re: Pastor Yemi Osinbanjo Is Disgracing Christianity by 2oby: 3:31pm On Jan 01, 2015 |
MarshRiley: I just stumbled on this article In this piece posted on Daily Post, Bayelsa-born Kali Gwegwe criticizes the political activities of the Vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo. Read the article below: I have deep respect for pastors not necessarily because I am a Christian. I do so because they are Messengers of God. Nevertheless, truth is just. Truth is correctional. It does not cover up errors or weaknesses. These are the fundamental basis for this piece. It has no political undertone. Following his nomination as the running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential flag bearer of APC in the February 14 polls; Pastor Yemi Osibanjo has been seen riding in public buses and having two-way engagements with the downtrodden. This is traditionally what is expected of Servants of God. Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is probably among the legion of Christian leaders that criticize Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) for screening his works of charity on Emmanuel TV. They have deliberately refused to acknowledge the fact that T.B. Joshua is simply following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ to show love and compassion for the less privileged. It is owing to his deep understanding of Scriptures that the General Overseer of SCOAN caters for the poor, weak, sick, neglected, rejected, and vulnerable in society. It was therefore curious that Pastor Yemi Osibanjo suddenly realized the important position the downtrodden occupy in society and in the heart of God. In all his years as pastor, Yemi Osibanjo has never been highlighted in the media preaching the Gospel in public buses or taking the message of salvation to personally and directly to the downtrodden. Only God knows how many souls he would have won for Christ if he done so. Many Christians were therefore shocked that he could do the unusual because of political power. My worry is this: Pastor Yemi Osibanjo has sent out a wrong message to the larger society. He has indeed succeeded in making people believe that POLITICS- NOT CHRISTIANITY CAN HELP BRING OUT THE BEST IN MEN. It is sad that desire for political power is what is making him to do what he could not do as a pastor. This is not good for the Christian faith. This piece does not seek to crucify Pastor Yemi Osibanjo. Rather, it is a challenge to all Christians to live up to their callings. Christianity is the pillar of hope for the hopeless, shelter for the vulnerable, and balm for the wounded. Christianity has no season. I just hope that Pastor Yemi Osibanjo will never stop riding in public buses and spending quality time with the downtrodden whether he wins or loses in the February 14, 2015 polls. For those who will rush to accuse me of judging Pastor Yemi Osibanjo, I have a question for them: Is it right for us to hold our leaders accountable for their actions? Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is a Christian leader. What I have done is holding him responsible for his actions. More than that, it is written in Proverbs 27:17 that “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Like any other person, Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is my friend. Gwegew’s criticisms are a bit out of place as he would rather attack the personality of the professor rather than stick to issues. Wat is dis 1 saying? Not making sense to me. |
Politics › Re: Alhaji Mujahid Asari-dokubo Under Fire From Northern Politicians by 2oby: 3:08pm On Jan 01, 2015 |
naijaman20: Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, an ex millitant from naija delta region, has incurred the wrath of some leaders in the North over his statements that President Goodluck Jonathan has already won the 2015 presidential election and threats that the country will be on fire if he did not win.
At a news conference in Abuja yesterday, one of the northern leaders and Patron of the Middle Belt Forum, Ambassador Yohanna Margif, warned Asari-Dokubo to be careful with his utterances, saying his statements were capable of setting in more sentiments and crises that would not beneficial to the country.
He said Asari-Dokubo’s threats to Nigerians over President Jonathan was a slap on the faces of other Nigerians, noting that as much as he had the right to support Jonathan for Presidency as a South- South militant, many other Nigerians too had the right to do so for any of their candidate but should not be threatened by Dokubo.

kel4soft: This thread is open for Civil Engineers and other related fields who are in highway doing what you know how to do best.
I want to know, does your company use rainmakers in projects? or is there any chemical (science) that suspends precipitation?
In 2007-2009, I noticed something, when Julius Berger was constructing Eleme Junction Interchange here in Port Harcourt, the rains didn't pour as usual. It is either falling everywhere except at Eleme Junction, or the duration of rainfall is minimal when compare to other areas in the state. It was like the dry season was stretched some folks believed JB actually controls the rains.
Is it a fact or fiction?
Discuss! a friend of mine who is a geographer told me something sometimes ago. She told me rain doesn't fall wen d rainbow appears. She said d construction companies have machine dat projects artificial rainbow to stop d rain wc most time obstruct quality result. |

Education › Re: Federal Universities Should Have Tuition Fees - Pro-Chancellors by 2oby: 8:36pm On Jul 06, 2014 |
iwonbaoko: Please name one country with a population over 100 million that gives free university education. Only one example please.NOTHING in this life is free. The handwriting has been on the wall a long time.Nigerians have an attitude of ENTITLEMENT and that explains partly why you see 27 year olds living at home with their parents collecting pocket money. We need less university education and more vocational TRAINING. Are those people in universities better than those who learn trades? Does government contribute anything to the training of tailors, mechanics,Bricklayers,Vulcanizers etc How are those cultists in universities claiming to be studying economics and politics etc more deserving of government funding than those training as hairdressers and butchers or poultry farmers?? I believe that education should be free up to the age of 18 i.e secondary school or Vocational training. University education of good quality cannot be free.We should not compromise quality because we want everyone to have it This is how universities should work: The universities should operate like a petrol station. No pay no admission They should be stand-alone entities independent of government. They should determine the actual cost of educating each student .Without this information we are deceiving ourselves. Sometime people just refuse to look into the mirror because they are afraid of what they might see. Having determined the cost we can now have a discussion about how to pay for it. That way the issue of underfunding universities will not come about . Government will then declare how many students they can afford to pay for and how they are going to allocate those resources. Otherwise government forces universities to over-admit and we end up with students sitting on the floor and aisles. u sound lik som1 well educated. U r either frm rich home or poor. If u r frm poor home, den it means u might neva had been previlaged to b as educated as u r nw. Let others get dat previlage too. Bsid, we wer prayin d gov do 1 tin right, rather, dey r undoin d few 'right' done by past leaders. #njesuswept |

Politics › Re: Iyabo Obasanjo's Letter To Her Father by 2oby: 4:14am On Dec 18, 2013 |
Wow! Like father, like daughter. Iyabo just confirmed what many of us know about her father. Obasanjo is a self centered man who takes no prisoner. Obasanjo is a provocative and vindictive man. He forgives no one that offends him. A trait common with the people of Owu. Sorry as no disrespect to any Owu.
What I see here is a daughter who is looking for relevance in public eyes. She did not address the allegation her father made about Jonathan. Did Iyabo benefit from the largesse stolen by her father? Iyabo is a beneficiary of so many juicy positions due to her father's status in Nigeria. She couldn't have been a commissioner of health or senator without her father and Maurice Iwu manipulating results in her favor. Iyabo herself is well known by her peers as someone who possesses the same traits as her father. Iyabo became a Senator through a cooked result by Maurice Iwu. This is the same Iyabo who jumped over 7-foot fence to evade arrest in 2008. This is the same Iyabo that has a pending case in court on corruption charges. She also needs to re-write this epistle again and tell us how much she benefited from her father being Nigerian President.
Having said all that above, Jonathan still owes Nigerians an explanation about allegations made by Obasanjo. These are valid allegations that must be investigated. If the allegations found to be true, Jonathan deserves to be booted out. If those allegations found to be untrue, then he deserves an apology from us.
Someone needs to authenticate this open letter......................
Did Iyabo truly write this open letter?
you are intelligent. you spoke my mind |
