Doctor, i think am addicted to menthol inhaler. Ever since last yr when i took it for the first time cos i had cough and cold, been using it non stop cos i found out that i never had cold, cough nor catarrh again. These are the active ingredients.. Menthol, camphor, menthyl salicylate. Can it affect my respiratory system?

is there any screening test for colo-rectal tumour? i never heard of any. however, if u hv family history or symptomatic of the disease then BARIUM STUDIES (enema) and flexible colonoscooy r an important tests to do otherwise dnt bother urself. medical check up: Hb genotype, blood group, RBS, RVS, HBsAg, HCsAg, CXR, ECG, lipid profile, urinalysis, eye examination etc

There's a pharmacy section for ur drug enquiries. First, how old r u? Cos methyl salicylate is a member of a class of drugs called NSAIDS.. So it shudnt be used in children under the age of 12. Yes it can surely affect ur respiratory system. You may av symptoms like, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, swelling of lip or tongue, feeling drowsy, stomach pain, nausea.. Even arrhythmia. It also shud be carefully used in pregnancy, and avoided in the third trimester.. So how often do u develop d cold and catarrh?

Am 23yrs and yes you are right, I feel some of those symptoms. Its just that whenever its like am gonna get sick and I use d inhaler, it kinda goes away. And inhaler helps me sleep well and no catarrh or cold in almost a year.
Before now, catarrh came easily, like every 3months.

Hi Doctor. I am 22yrs , I'm extremely slim and I don't drink or smoke. Am having pains in my heart that some times could be felt in my left arm down to my back. I've been to one of the most reliable hospitals here in Nigeria (O.A.U Teaching Hospital) and I was asked to run various tests like ECG, ECHO blood tests and even chest x- ray. Am yet to do the ECHO cause of money. But all the test shows that there is nothing wrong with my heart according to the doctor. I still feel the symptoms especially when I am resting. I've been having palpitation and angina for about 3 years now. I noticed lately that after wakin up... the rate at which my heart beat is scary!! Am scared... Am dyin slowly!!! And have stopped growing, am too skinny

Pls doctor i need if this could be get ddone without surgery!! Am really scared and not growin atall!

Tanx in advance!

stable angina usually settle with rest while unstable angina occurs even at rest[what u seems to describe]. at 22yrs ischaemic heart disease is rare ESPECIALLY with normal ECG. relax your mind nd do the echo if it is normal then dnt bother yourself, think of STRESS as a possible cause of your problems

This is surely a case of unstable angina. The pain in ur chest is caused by insufficient blood supply through the artery that feeds oxygen and nutrients to the heart. This disorder is very serious and it's a warning sign of an imminent heart attack. I'd advise u to go for a blood test for troponin. I'd strongly advise you start treatment with clopidogrel 75mg(4 tab loading dose) 1 tab daily, with aspirin(micropirin) 75mg, 1tab daily. Don't fail to let ur doctor know about this. This is dangerous if left untreated. Cheers..

I stopped playing football long time ago, and i dont do anything stressful.

Like someone said on this forum, after doing ECHO, the doctor still cant figure what is going on with the heart.

And is there anything to do to the stop in growth??

That is exactly what the KEDI Doctor said for the first time in 2010. He said insufficient blood. And he said i shld buy drugs of over 20K. I dnt have the money that's why i went to O.A.U hoping they are goin to discover it too and prescribe a cheap drug, bt they didnt discover anything.

Someone said i shld go to Gani Faweiinmi Hospital at Ondo, Ondo State, that they are going to discover it. Am already planning to go next week.

Pls Doctor, can this be the reason why i sleep much?? And they stop in growth??

Am happy someone finally said something that i am experiencing. Thanks n advance!! Waiting for ur reply.

in unstable angina pain is relief with REST nd ST segment depression is seen on ECG but in his own case he feel pain even at REST and ECG is NORMAL . a simple ANGINA dnt show elevation of cardiac enzymes ( CK or troponins) this occur when there is MI myocardial infarction, cardiac enzymes at this stage is uncall for. he may repeat the ECG nd see a cardiologist but not cardiac enzymes

we dnt make diagnosis of pulmonary congestion, it can only occur as a component of other medical problem. she may be having congestive cardiac failure, left ventricular failure, rarely lobar pneumonia. as a nursing mother PPCF is a possiblity but u need to tell us more of her symptoms so that we may be able to picture what is wrong with her

I don't think too much... And what is ur own meaning of social stress?? is the medical doc u saw at TH a cardiologist? if he is then do Echo nd take it to him. i hv 3 possibilities to ur problem 1) rheumatic valvular heart disease, but u would hv had signs nd symptoms of heart failure by now 2) hypertropic cardiomyopathy ( it comes with serious palpitation and angina) but ECG would hv detected abnormal rhymth and an enlarged heart 3) this leave me with last option, a psychiatric problem. scary palpitation, angina at REST associated with extreme skinness and heavy sleep with NORMAL ECG point to a background psychriatric problem. pls hv a psychiatrist opinion it wunt do u any bad.

Great doc, the poster said he has had angina for over three years now, and knowing fully well that d unstable type progresses into myocardial infarction. Poster said Hez dying slowly, Hez stopped growing and u're saying he shud rest? This must be a joke.

......dying slowly ............stopped growing... these r not typical of ischaemic heart disease; it doesnt give ppl chance to say all these. these statements r typical of a person going through some emotional/psychological turbulance.

Bro, have stated all the symptoms and you shld try and tell me what's going on and the way forward. Instead of using some terms i used against me.

When i said dying slowly; i meant i dont know what's going with me upon all the tests.. and am goin thru lotta discomfort (physically).

And stopped growin; i just know am getting old in Age, no physical change.

I 'll be going to OAUTH this week.. probably Tuesday.

Thanks so much bro!!

that is your best bet. In complicated and severe cases like yours, no online doctor can help you fully. We need to see you physically. Even though medcine is mostly trial and error.
I wish u luck

That might be difficult 'coz some workers attitude are not encouraging.

I don't know if i shld walk into their Cardiology Department straight up or i shld first go the place we will que to see the Doctors before they now refer us.

Do you know how OAUTH Operates??

no I don't know how OAUTH operates. The procedure generally is, you see a MO or GP who you talk to without holding back anything. He would or should refer you to a specialist
