This is shocking! The bank used to be known for a high level of due diligence and compliance with local regulations. |

Canadian immigration website crashes as American voters watch Election Day results The one-stop shop for Canadian hopefuls slowed to a crawl late Tuesday as droves of disenchanted Americans inundated the immigration website. The Immigration and Citizen portal sputtered, repeatedly crashing as Election Day results showed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump snagging wins in Ohio, Florida and Missouri. An attempt to access the site prompted an "internal server error." A spokesperson for Canadian immigration did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the website problems. Left-leaning voters have threatened to ditch the United States for their northern neighbor ever since the real estate magnate kicked off his White House bid by disparaging Mexicans, Muslims and women. The immigration portal worked for a brief moment before coming to a halt. The immigration portal worked for a brief moment before coming to a halt. Cape Breton Island officials begged Americans to consider a move to their northern island in the Atlantic Ocean should Trump wins. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/www.nydailynews.com/amp/news/politics/canadian-immigration-website-crashes-american-election-article-1.2865105%3F0p19G%3De |
bellong:*modified This is heartwarming! ![]() Thanks for the piece of information. I have BSc (Banking & Finance) from OOU, almost 10 years of experience in banking, a professional certificate from Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and an MBA (Finance) that I got 3-4 years into my working life. Do you think I stand a chance of getting a positive assessment from VETASSES for Financial Institution Branch Manager? |
kike100:*modified Before the gurus come on board, let me share my "learner's" insight with you ![]() What is his most recent experience? Accountant? Even if his most recent experience is that of Internal Audit, he may still get a positive assessment from one of the accounting bodies i.e. CA/CPA/IPA His IELTS result is not bad. Note that IELTS Academic is required for the purpose of skills/qualification assessment by most, if not all, the accounting bodies. You may refer to page 0 of this thread and consider other factors such as age, partner points etc to make an informed decision on whether to go for visa subclass 189 or 190. Interestingly, "Accountant" as an occupation appears on both SOL and CSOL. That gives you an opportunity to check if partner points will work. Also note that you can submit EOI for both 189 and 190 with the same application on Skillselect. Looping: angiesteve, kubbiebrownie, Bimpsy99 |
coolhayor:As noted earlier, this question has already been answered on this thread. There is little benefit in repeating questions that have already been dealt with; they tend to crowd out other important questions/issues. Let us make effort to read through to avoid needless repetition. I will attempt to search for an answer given by dupyshoo recently. Cheers! |
fados4sure:Ok, will check it out. Thanks |
fados4sure:Really? Source/link please ![]() |
malel1:Why use an agent when you can do it yourself with the vast amount information on this thread? ![]() Dedicate just one day to read the whole thread and thank me later...unless you have lots of money to spare ![]() |
@PhoenixReal, tunene66 You cannot really blame them. Banks rarely educate their personnel on how Treasury Bills works, to put it mildly. They tactfully discourage their staff from championing it. The emphasis is on growing deposits/liabilities a.k.a "DDA", since that would earn them higher income. The relatively few bankers who know how TBs works got that knowledge on their own. |
temitope06:This has already been discussed on this thread. Look out for previous posts of dupyshoo. Cheers! |
NgcoboP:*modified It's true o...you think his action was due to the "bashing" that guys gave him? ![]() |
@sammywemmy, wafer247 Thanks for your responses. |
@angiesteve Thanks for your advise and also for sharing your thoughts. @all My next question may seem a bit premature but I would like to know nonetheless. ![]() -If my spouse is eventually granted Australian PR, would I as a partner need to do a skill assessment before I can secure a job in Australia? -When you get the PR, how much time do you have to relocate to Oz? |
Sharon6:The weight seems to be a minus. How have you been coping please? |

oknee:Thanks, she actually selected NSW for the 190 subclass visa. We just want to boost her chances of being invited to apply since Accountants are selected on a pro rata basis. |
charix:I understand lower prices but security? @Gptech, GrandMufti, NgcoboP, Kulimart, 2kurupt, vosquare, Nsonaso, Iheanyi4u, ibawon, others, what do you have to say to this? |
Bnimz:Sorry, by "applied", I meant she submitted an EOI for visa subclass 190. Thanks @sunvick ![]() |
*modified Good evening gurus in the house. My wife has submitted EOI for visa subclass 190 with 65 points hoping that the additional 5 points from state sponsorship will earn her a total of 70 points. In view of the highly competitive nature of her nominated occupation (Accountant: General), we have been thinking of how to increase her points and position her for an ITA. I noticed that her occupation appears on both SOL and CSOL lists; the closest occupation that match my current job role is "Financial Institution Branch Manager" which also appears on CSOL. My questions; -Has anyone on this forum gotten a positive assessment from VETASSESS on "Financial Institution Branch Manager" or a closely related occupation? What documents did you submit to get a "winning" application? -In view of the acclaimed tough nature of VETASSESS, is it worth it to stake AUD810 on their skill assessment and hope to get a positive assessment from them? What has been flashing through my mind for the past few days is the possibility of her getting additional 5 points from "partner points" since both "Accountant: General" and "Financial Institution Branch Manager". -If I am going ahead with VETASSESS, would it be necessary to go through their Skill Assessment Support (SAS) which includes Document Checking and Consultation Services and spend additional AUD330 on that? Any special benefits? -Beyond the advertised timeline, how long does VETASSESS assessment takes in reality? Please drop your comments/observations/suggestions/recommendations. @tyosho I refreshed this thread just now and saw your response. Thanks for validating what we just did- created a new profile with 190 subclass and chose NSW. The new profile gave her 70 points. Once again, thanks. Shall contact you if we require further clarifications. Now the waiting begins ![]() |
